M10 had 15 Mythic rares, 7 of which were reprinted in M11. If the 50% reprint approach holds true, which Mythics do we think will make it to M12? I'm hoping that they keep the Titans and ditch the original Planeswalkers.
It would just suck if we only got the Titans for 1 year, and the walkers have been around since Lorwyn!
So my picks for the re-printed Mythics in M12 would be:
The 5 Titans,
Time Reversal
Gaea's Revenge
Planeswalkers are too iconic for them not to be printed in a 5-card cycle. We may see different ones, but we won't see two reprinted cycles that's for sure! Since the planeswalkers in core sets won't be new walkers, they'll all be reprints. Basically, the titans don't have room to be in the next set unless WotC is okay with 10 reprinted mythics, or cut back on the walkers. Which I don't think they are.
Reprinting mythics is counter-intuitive too. Their supposed to be mythic, rare spells, and the result is that we'll probably rarely see any mythic reprinted (outside of Baneslayer).

If they keep to the 50% reprint policy they'll be good mythics.
Baneslayer Angel will probably be in since she has become the new "staple" angel, the original PWs will be in since they are the "core set" PWs, as to what else would be in, we don't know yet, could be another cycle similar to the Titan cycle, or it could be random splashy spells, we don't know.

I haven't changed by signature since Mirrodin Besieged spoilers started!
It would be interesting if they take another stab at Ancestral Recall. Do you think UU Each player draws 3 cards would see play?
I can't think of any way to balance it other than just reprint Jace's Ingenuity.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I'm guessing baneslayer will not be reprinted as one of she or lightning bolt was initially going to be cut from m11. I'm guessing now that both will be cut for m12. I'm really hoping the titans stick around. However, bighaben's logic seems very sound... i'm going to have to agree with him

Go Habs Go!
On a trade break. Getting ripped blows...
My guess is that the titans are gone, because they were designed to sell M11. They did what they were supposed to do, and for the next set they'll need to be replaced.
They also said that one of either Baneslayer or Lightning bolt was almost cut from M11, I expect they'll cut one, and that it'll be Baneslayer. Right now control is strong, cutting the titans and Baneslayer would certainly start swinging the pendulum back towards cheap aggro decks.
If I had to bet, I'd put the original 5 walkers back, and the rest will be replaced.
I suppose that makes sense... Maybe they'll be brought into one of the upcoming expansions... With the expansions, cards see play for 2 years, but with the core sets rotating every year, then some cards will get just the 1 year of play. I think the Titans have become too iconic for them to drop completely. I suppose like the Leylines, maybe they will bring back one or 2 of them in another set, but then add in a few new ones.
bighaben: Reprinting mythics is counter-intuitive too. Their supposed to be mythic, rare spells, and the result is that we'll probably rarely see any mythic reprinted (outside of Baneslayer).
I would agree with you except for the original 5 Planeswalkers which started in an expansion, and have been printed in 2 core sets now. Then add in the various duel decks and 4 of the 5 have seen 4 reprints! I realize that the Lorwyn versions were rare, not Mythic... but 3 mythic reprintings of 4/5 Planeswalkers goes against that sentiment.
We only have 2 core sets right now that have even had Mythics, so them reprinting 7 from 2010 to 2011 doesn't mean that they will do the same thing for 2012... maybe we'll get 15 all-new mythics! That would be pretty cool.
Still, we're 8 months away from that, so not too much to go on right now. I was mainly wondering if I should invest in titans as a casual/sometimes FNM player or wait until they rotate? If they were going to be constructed playable for 2 years then I may as well invest sooner, but if they are only in for 1 year, then I may as well wait until they rotate and drop in price.
I'm fairly certain Wizards stated somewhere that the original five PW's were here to stay for a while. And I highly doubt they'll reprint something as dumb as big Jace or Primeval Titan. My guess for m12 is that they'll reprint the 7 that were reprinted from m10 in m11. 5 PWs, Platinum Angel, and BSA.
What I would like to see is a cycle of big, stupid sorceries. But that's another topic. ::awaiting ensuing infraction::

No real point. If the cycle ticked you off that much, whatever mythics show up to replace it will likely tick you off similarly. ...me too, for that matter...

The franchise MtG most resembles is Battlestar Galactica. Why? Its players exist in, at most, a dozen different models at any given point in time, with perhaps up to 3% variation, 5% if you're lucky.
The titans had better rotate. We don't need years of valakut titan decks.
The original planeswalkers will probably be in every core set for the next few years- wizards is much too attached to the idea of planeswalkers to drop them and the originals are the ones that play best in mono-colored decks without being too powerful. Though if core sets had elspeths and jace 2.0s they would sell like mad...

I think Magic is a pretty cool guy. He brainstorms every turn and doesn't be afraid of anything.
I can see em reprinting baneslayer and newer walkers like jace 2.0 and gideon I grow tired of the 5 original walkers being in the core sets
That will NEVER happen. Wizards reprinting Jace? Nope. Same with Gideon. They like sticking with the cycle of 5 and adding new ones. I hope they don't reprint Titans or we'll have the most boring meta ever. I am betting on a baneslayer reprint though.
I think the 5 original PWs will stay as we already have Chandra's Phoenix confirmed for M12 and BSA will be out as I understood from MaRo's article Magic Goest To Eleven
At first Lightning Bolt was removed, but there were fans in the Pit that lobbied for its return. Then Baneslayer Angel was removed but there were concerns that it was wrong to take a card that's valuable in so many decks and only allow it in Standard for a single year (okay, fifteen months). In the end, the development team decided that both had their reasons to return and kept them both.

They've sort of done that already. It wasn't that great, unless you happened to have Psychic Possession in play. (And it's just about the only time Psychic Possession is good.)
