There was a post around here somewhere that made a lot of sense to me:
"~Phyrexian Counter
3(P/U)(P/U)
Remove / discard a card from your hand to reduce the casting cost of ~ by 3.
Counter target spell."
That seemed pretty feasible.
@ raptor, use [ mana]{PW}{PG}{PU}{PB}{PR}[ /mana] = (P/W)(P/G)(P/U)(P/B)(P/R)
It really needs to exile a Blue card, because giving every color Force of Will at a marginally steeper life cost is stupid good.
I think a (P/U)Force Spike seems the most likely. Maybe make it non-Creature only. It'd still see play in legacy as a supplement to Daze and a way for non-blue decks to Daze, but it wouldn't be stupid good. If it's a harder counter than that, it's going to have to have some sort of blue requirement like exiling a blue card as an additional cost or "Counter that spell unless they pay 1 for each island you control"

I really doubt they will print a counter, even if it's not a hard counter that requires no blue, either by pitching a blue card, or paying at least 1 mana.
If they made a (P/U)(P/U)(P/U)(P/U) counter, I would play it in my mono-red deck in my sb against control. Paying 8 life to prevent a gideon, wurmcoil engine, or grave titan, or a day of judgment is easily worth it.
I would even consider it if it cost 5 (P/U) or even 6.
I just hate the idea of giving all colors access to color specific type spells. Kind of ruins each colors identity if all of a sudden every color can extirpate you at the cost of 2 life or counter your spell for X life. I hope they don't but wouldn't be surprised after seeing the neo extirpate.

The card he's talking about actually read like this:
3(P/U)(P/U)
You may exile a card with cmc 3 or greater from your hand to reduce the cost of ~ by 3.
Counter target spell. You get a poison counter.
Out of all of these, this seems easily the most likely. It has symmetry with FoW and feels incredibly flavorful. I could see wotc potentially printing this. It has a significant draw back--4 life, a card and a poison counter (more relevant to standard, but still not completely inconsequential)--and is design space they are definitely trying to explore aggressively. I doubt we will see phybrid and regular mana costs on the same card.

The problem if they printed this card is that it would be horrible in every format, except maybe EDH.

We're kinda getting a bit closer to Yu-Gi-Oh! aren't we? I never played the game much, but I know that except for your life and cards in your hand and graveyard, you have no resources, which makes good cards bonkers. EDIT: Also, this means that decks are just compilations of the best cards in a given format. I wouldn't be surprised if we'd receive something like this:
Universal Disenchant 1(P/W)
Sorcery
Destroy target artifact or enchantment.

People who said 6 life for a FoW type spell without pitching a card is better than force are mistaken. In eternal life totals matter greatly I don't know what you guys are talking about. 6 life against storm combo is very ugly; imagine paying 6 life for that oh look you also have fetched twice putting you at 12. Then all the storm player needs to do is have tendrils in hand with a few rituals/spells to go 5 spells, cast tendrils at you. You lose. Sweet game.
On a force of will variant, whoever said they don't print countermagic that doesn't cost at least 2 mana are mistaken. They printed mindbreak trap which if memory serves costs 0 mana sometimes. So don't say they won't print a force of will variant; I would see it as pretty flavorful if they did do one that required you to pitch a card and lose 6 life or something. Because force and the new card would be card disadvantage.
On a sidenote someone mentioned a phyrexian force spike. That would be sweet I would love it if they did that.

Yeah but Mindbreak Trap costing 0 only happens when your opponent does something degenerate, generally speaking. Either way, it's dependent on your opponent's actions. Force of Will (or variant) is only dependent on you having enough life and cards.
Just because it's card disadvantage doesn't change the fact that it's among the most powerful cards ever printed. Losing 6 life and an extra card is a hefty price, maybe even enough to be fair I dont know, but it's still an amazing deal if it allows you to say "No" to whatever game-winning threat the opponent tries to play.

Just think of it as a fixed Channel. It's balanced because you can control exactly what spells you can cast with the "mana" and it also costs twice as much life. It also doesn't warp commander where we have color identity to keep off color cards out of decks.
(P/U)(P/U)
You may only cast ~ if you control a land that could produce .
Counter Target Spell unless that spell's controller pays
----------
Weaker than mana leak in lots of circumstances, but stronger in others... pretty powerful in standard, being able to counter Stoneforge Mystic on the draw.
Probably on a similar level to daze in legacy? Bit more powerful perhaps?
In extended... who cares?
Maybe the cost to opponent could be (P/U)(P/U)? Would make for some really awesome counter-burn decks, that's for sure.
MaRo hinted on Twitter when someone tweeted about a possible cycle for Phyrexian Mana only cards in NPH. What types of spells would everyone like to see if this cycle is actually true?
For blue... A hard counter for three blue phyrexian mana. It'd be powerful but not broken since 6 life is a lot for a 0 costed counter. Alternatively they could make it closer to force of will and have it be two blue phyrexian mana and you have to discard a card... or something along those lines.
For red... some form of shock would be good. 2 instant speed damage for one red phyrexian mana?
Blacks is known and good...
White i imagine will play with exiling creatures again... maybe two white phyrexian mana to exile a creature? Maybe 3 actually... 2 might be OP
Green is the tougher one as i can't think of something to fit flavorwise... for example, paying life for a ramp spell seems odd...
I haven't seen anything like a 'hint' in MaRo's twitter feed. Post the posting you're talking about, please. From what I can tell, this is baseless speculation, although it would be rather like WotC to produce a cycle of cards similar to Surgical Extraction.

I think I'd rather play Cancel or Stoic Rebuttal then play that. That's really bad.
Besides being a Phyrexian card has no rules meaning just like the guild symbols on cards.
Edit: I didn't see your edit. 3(P/U)(P/U) is possible. The rest still stands though.
