They've never really shown his midsection before, but has Tezzeret been made of that much etherium? Or was he given a bit of a makeover? I thought he just had an arm of etherium, previously...?????

Actually, from the art on the Shards of Alara fat pack box, it seems only his head isn't made of Etherium...
Yeah, I just read over the article again, must have missed that part...
Still as of the events of AoA Tezzeret merely has his arm made of Etherium, and hopefully for those that read the book, this shows the return of our artifact alligned friend.
Tezzeret was "Killed" as far as we were "shown" in AoA, but this proves he survived Bolas' insane power crushing thing. which is a good thing, that and the original art for tezzy done by the artist (off the top of my head i cant recall) but he was originally done elderly and they changed him to fit to the more young-old crowd (myself included)

My guess from looking at the two arts side by side is that this is what Tezzeret looks like after Bolas was done crushing him. Looking at the fat pack art he could already have the etherium waist. The two things about him now (assuming he is older in the new art) grey hair and no glowing thing on his shoulder.
kspaeth123 I don't remember AoA saying anything about him loosing it.

Tezz only ever had an arm until this art. The fat pack merely shows him doing what all other poor esperites do, wearing armor to make it look like he has more etherium than he does.
In AoA he had one arm, this would be post Nicol Bolas/ Jace removing arm, his other arm is crude, not a well constructed arm, any chance it isn't even etherium? And the right arm looks like the original, put on again?

Also... check the flavor text:
"What separates us from mere beasts is the capacity for self-improvement."
I think this suggests that this Tezzeret is a new and improved version of his former self.
Or he could also be meaning it literally and the flavor text just shows a little humor with the twist on philosophy. I think it makes more sense than hinting that Tezzeret is turning over a new leaf. I guess it's possible though.

This kinda opens the can of worms as to which Walkers will be in Zendikar. For all we know, Chandra/Sorin/and-or Nissa might not get into the block until Worldwake or later...

The way they portray planeswalkers are interesting indeed. Normally characters come and go.. and forgotten. But Planeswalkers really go from one plane (set) to another. They are always there.. who knows who we meet again during one of our travels....
Its also nice that they could literally be reprinted with the flavor that they too traveled in the plane "we" currently are travelling in.
Looking forward to Tezzeret (among others) returning and or evolving.
I was one of the group that really liked the elderly Tezz art originally created for his card. I like the idea of a grizzled Walker among the group of fledgling walkers and hope this signifies that the next time we see him, he'll be an older, more improved version of himself.

Hopefully they'll continue the 5 walker/block ratio. Actually, I wouldn't mind if they increased it.
3 random things i noticed:
1. the etherium seems rusted
2. the whole background seems out of place
3. the blue glow coming from his hand. does that have any significance relating to the books?

I don't believe this to be Tezzeret but some other Esperite.
The article heavily implies that it is, indeed, Tezz.
