Does anyone else think there's the teensiest chance that one or all of the Judgment Wishes could be reprinted in 11E, perhaps even as Mythic Rares?
A core set never ever has brand-new cards in it, and imho not many monocolor non-creature cards have the pedigree or the "whoa, awesome" factor that may mark them as Mythics... the Wishes are clearly some of the few that do.
There is a wish I would like to see in 11th: glittering wish, but alas, it is not of the five classic wishes.
I see it as the most useful in this environment, with there being so much gold/multi-colored cards. Also, since there are many ways of searching through a players library and removing a powerful gold card, the Glittering Wish is a great way to have a strong card, like the Conflux gold Mythics, available, but still protected.
Which brings an interesting question to this thought:
If you (the community as a whole) had a card effect that allowed you to search and remove card(s), like the classic Jester's Cap, would you remove a wish card if it was in the deck, or just go for the biggest threat/their combo breaker (like the last two counter spells in their deck, or their only artifact removal)?

Reprinting wishes would be cool, but there are some issues.
For starters, burning wish was broken in half and should never be reprinted.
Cunning wish was also pretty powerful and probably should not be reprinted.
The rest are printable, but death wish and golden wish were pretty awful.
I'd say if anything, golden is the most balanced, reprintable wish.
- Stooge, in answer, what I would remove depends on my deck. If I'm playing some difficult to deal with threats I hit a wish, because wishes offer very flexable removal options. If they are playing threats that are tough on my deck I just go for those.
The main problem is that Core Sets do not use any cards including the "RFG" or "OoG" zone. So unless that changes (which it very well may, given tip cards and all) don't expect to see them.

Ah, too true. I'd forgotten about that whole 'complexity' issue.
I don't think the Wishes would be too overpowered in the current Standard. It's a format almost totally devoid of any combo decks. Cunning and Burning might be problematic though, as long as the skeleton for the current TEPS incarnation is viable in Extended.

The wishes already exist as far as eternal formats go, so there's no taking them back. The question is whether standard/extended have any targets powerful enough to make them overpowered. It's not like they're reprinting Yawgmoth's Will, so the fact that Burning Wish is restricted in vintage is irrelevant since, like I said before, it already exists. Also, since there are no restrictions in any other format, running something as a 4 of makes it likely enough to hit it without wishes. That makes them only really useful for searching narrow answers, combo pieces, or expensive cards. I can't think of anything that really fits that criteria, that would warp standard if you could run it in a wish board. Extended isn't really an issue unless there's something overpowered in Alara since the wishes existed there until it rotated in.

That's the issue; whether or not Wizards would want to put TEPS back in extended.
I personally never much cared for the wishes, but I wasn't playing during Odyssey/Onslaught and I've never played TEPS in extended, mainly because I just don't like combo decks. So I really hope they don't get reprinted.
Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.

I wouldn't rule this out considering Wizards put protection and trample in the Core Set.
When I started playing Magic, I got used to the RFG concept pretty easily. That's just me though, and it helped that I started when Odyssey just came out.
It's not particularly likely, but it doesn't seem impossible either. They wouldn't be out of control in Standard. As for TEPS... Extended is already broken in half as it is, and nothing they do is likely to change that for a couple of years at least.
Can we please not bring them back. They're reasonably powered for tournament play but for casual play they're just silly. Wishes are definitely a card I have no desire to ever see again.
Oh, come on. Broken in half? Where? Even in Vintage Burning Wish was restricted accidentally.
I'd love to have Living, Cunning and Burning back in T2. We've been lacking good tutors for to long.
Well, in Vintage, it's restricted because of Yawgmoth's Will. It's just like how Crop Rotation is restricted because of Tolarian Academy. Yeah, a good portion of the restricted list is because of a couple stupidly broken cards.
The wishes have no chance of being reprinted in a Base set as they are too format changing and even though Base set is no longer set as a starter set its still VERY advance rules for them that shouldnt be there unless in a major set.
I would just like to point out that Wizards has said the Core Set is no longer a noob set. So RFG and OOG may not be out of the imagination for it now.
Edit: Climbing into the 'geddon tent along with jylichan. Hey look! I brought a bag of Marshmellows and s'more stuff! Yum.

Mulling over the complexity issue, this very argument could have been made two years ago to the day about Legends being in 10th Edition, and well looky wha happen.

Actually, Burning got restricted as an effect of LED becoming an effective Lotus 2-5. It's widely accepted that forcing Will out of the main board is a big enough drawback to allow for a full set.
So, exactly how did Lion's Eye Diamond get Burning Wish restricted? A sorcery tutor isn't exactly going to matter to an artifact.

well, unless that is when MaRo decides to contradict himself about great utility spells at that rarity.
