I'm a big fan of the legendary cards. While all of the 8 tribes of Lorwyn got multicolor legends, only two tribes got additional monocolor legends: Brigid, Hero of Kinsbaile and Ashling the Pilgrim.
Usually wizards likes to balance things out, so it's possible that there will be six more monocolored legends in Morningtide. As I haven't read the book yet, I looked through the flavor text from Lorwyn for names that could be put on legendary cards:
Boggarts: Auntie Flint Auntie Grub (though she seems to be more of a historical figure) Borb of the Squeaking Pie warren
Elves: Eidren, perfect of Lys Alana Desmera, perfect of Wren's Run Fiala, Gilt-Leaf winnower
Faeries: Oona, queen of the faeries
Giants: Galanda Feudkiller
Kithkin: Calydd, kithkin farmer Deagan, cenn of Burrenton
Merrow: Neerdiv, fallowsage Lianda of the Stonybrook school Minnarin, merrow reejerey
Treefolk: Colfenor, the Last Yew
Other than Oona and Colenfor, none of these seem likley. Are there any characters from the book that stand out?
Another thought I had was that Giants and Treefolk don't have a card with he champion mechanic. This might have been because there aren't many weenies to champion for those tribes, but it still seems odd that they didn't get one.
slightly off-topic but your last comment made me think of a possibility. Maybe inter-tribe champions. Flavor shows that the Kithkin are liked by the treefolk what about a white treefolk that champions Kithkin.
What about Rhys as a Legendry Creature, possibly with a Champion ability that champions either treefolk or elves? Course I wouldn't know what color he would be since he does become an eyesblight...GB maybe?
Well, let's see. There's already been a monocolored Kithkin in white, and a monocolored Flamekin in red. I thus predict that Morningtide will see Oona, Faerie Queen as the blue legend, and Colfenor, the Last Yew (good name, Javelineer) in black. That still leaves at least a green legend, and merrow, giants, elves, and boggarts. Elves would be green. Boggarts would be red. Giants would be white. Merrow would be blue.

I would say the best chance here would certainly be a mono-green Rhys. When he became an eyeblight, he actually became more green I think then black. As his journey continued, he became more in touch with the others and in sense became less about himself. Just my 2 cents though.
The obvious ones seem to be Colfenor, Oona, and Galanda. Kithkin already have two legends, so I doubt they'll get another. Rhys, of course, is an option (monogreen), as is Maralen (monoblack).
I haven't ready the book so I'm just going by the comments of others here. For those who have read it, any chance Rhys could be Green/White?
It's not exactly the colour of most Elves in Lorwyn, but then again if he's an outcast maybe he shouldn't be easy to fit into an elf tribal deck anyway.
Rhys would be mono green or mono black imo. The queen of the Fae would be a good choice for a mono blue legend. Colfenor would be a decent mono black legend. Mono red wont likely see another legend, nothing from the novel stands out anyways.
I thought it was interesting how most of the legends were represented in the novel.

The [name], [race] [something] are just normal flavor text legends ( see Bucky, Flavor Text Writer ), that usually do not get cards for them.
As for the possible story-based legends:
Rhys - probably monogreen elf, possible treefolk connection, because of:
Colfenor - black and green treefolk
Rosheen Meanderer - sister of Brion Stoutarm, giant vagabond sage.
Oona...she's something like race-soul (like Gaea, but just for faeries), half-mythical figure on the power level of Myojins...well, maybe possible.
There's a possible planescrawler who could get a planeswalker card in MOR, an elvish gal named Maralen. Her true status is uncertain, though.
Galanda Feudkiller was mentioned in Nakazawa's article and at the Amphitheater, so she may be an option. I only fear whether her true card was not taken by Arbiter of Knollridge.
Of course, there may be a load of other Dorans, Wydwens and Worts, cool-sounding legends with no story role...

Doh, I forgot about the main character from the book. I could have at least looked at the book description.
From what I've heard, I think it's most likely that we will see Rhys and Colenfor.
Multitribe championing seems possible, especially if Morningtide tries to be different by pushing dual-tribe intereactions (like Kithkin Greatheart, and Cloudgoat Ranger)

I wish I could take dredit for the names, but I pulled them from cards. "Colfenor, the Last Yew" is from Rootgrapple.

Sygg's the only merfolk of note in the story?
Yes I'm aware that flavor text personalities often don't get made. I just thought it wasa good place to start looking for possible legendary personalities. Way back in Fallen Empires I really wanted to see Marshal Volnikov or Ailis Connaut, but it never happened, but at least after all those years we got Jaya and Saffi. There's still hope.
But I think I'm in the very small minority who would like to see Fallen Empires 2: Return to Sarpadia...
Rhys- monogreen
Colfenor-monoblack (Colfenor is reeeally Eevul!)
Oona-The next monoblue ridiculously powerful legend, or she may be blue-black, who knows
Maralen-Planeswalker? If yes, by what she does in the book, she'd probably be blue-green.
The Clique that accompanies them: maybe a champion?
Velis Vel-Who knows, the cave may be alive... In that case, overpowered 5-colored impossible to play changeling FTW!
Any other Shapeshifter- really unprobable
Galanda-Arbiter of Knollridge
Also, Ashling may have only appeared because she's the main character, so we may not see a lot of story characters. Also, we may see a new tribe in 'Tide, ala Dragons in Scourge, so who knows?
Those are pretty much the only major characters that would have a chance to be printed. But what interests me is if you guys have any guesses as to what there abilities might be or card names.
A good name for Rhys I think would be: Rhys, Ascended Daen
Or something to do with his seedguide journey, which also proves he would be mono green.

Colfenor is dead by the end of the first book . . . .
Right, but he talks of plans that involve him surviving the changes Lorwyn will have. So he produced a seedcone, which I thought was his clone.
Plants, self-aware or not, usually dont have the ability to self propagate.
Unless he was holding onto some Yew pollen from his long lost sweetheart, or simply holding onto the seedcone from ages ago, he produces the cone A-sexually, which would have all the same genetic material the original would, maybe including the mind-part. I really dont know treefolk biology, but I assume that Colfenor's Seedling was just at least anonther part of himself.

Even though I've read it, spoiler tag much, Arson?
Hm. Maralen might just be a guise for some random legend we'll see in MTD. The mother of all Fae, Oona, stands a good shot of being legendary (though not PWy, I think).
I think Maralen would be an interesting card, though there is too much that is unknown about her...Maybe she'd have a built in fog ability or a upheavel similar to the magic she uses against Daen Gryffin, something like this.

Maralen the Mysterious

Of course this could a little too broken, but it kinda reminds me of Teferi's Moat.
The only character who MUST get a card in MOR is Rhys. He is too pivotal to the central plot not to gain that recognition. WotC has occassionally in the past waited until the last moment to print a key character in card form (think Gerrard, Raksha, Jhoira).
I'm also going to take a stab and guess that Velis-Vel will get a card too, probably in all colours. It will be the new Mistform Ultimus, only much cooler. An alternative to that is a land or atifact whic ceates a Legendary creature token named Velis-Vel, which would actually seem more appropriate.
There are a bunch of characters who might get their own cards, but probably won't, such as:
-Maralen (though I doubt it - more likely to reveal a Planeswalker possessing her; plus Rhys is already the mono-colour legendary elf)
-Oona (though I'd love to see her as a Planeswalker, presuming she is one)
-Rosheen (already a legendary giant, and R and W are one legend up at the moment)
-Colfenor v.2 (too young, will probably be rooted to same spot all throughout MOR)
-the Vendilion clique (they do lots of annoying things but aren't really focused)
-Gryffid (again, already a legendary elf in Rhys)
That said, WotC will probably go and print all of them just to annoy me. I just hope they don't make mirror versions of the Planeswalkers (eg. Jace in WB), because they would be a horrible and cheap rehash of Planar Chaos.

Isn't Velis Vel a cavern? correct me if i'm wrong. I think good candidates for any giant legends would be Brion Stoutarm's siblings Kiel and Rosheen as they were recently mentioned in an arcana.

Rosheen is probable, judging by the frequent mentions at the WotC pages. In the book, she is mentioned only indirectly. I'd like to see Colfenor printed, but I remember that Terashi did not get his own card even in the legend-crowded block, and we were left only with his Cry, Grasp and Verdict. Oona is not a walker, IMHO. Maralen can be one.
