One of the things I look forward to every month is seeing what the new FNM foil will be, since I love seeing old cards in the new face. I thought it might be fun to take a stab at guessing what some of them might be next year, given that almost all recent fnm foils have been either:
a) new face reprints of current extended commons/ uncommons, or
(e.g. counterspell, FoF, duress, therapy, flametounge)
b) new face versions of current standard reprints, with original art
(e.g. juggernaut, kird ape, and now icy)
Also note that block or set mechanics, well not frequent, are sometimes used (e.g. blastoderm, therapy)
From this, my top three picks for the extended cards most likely to see print as FNM foils next year are, in no particular order:
1. Wild Mongrel (If they'll print counterspell, why not this?)
2. Goblin Warchief (not so hot in extended right now, but could also help promote legacy)
3. Force spike (would be sort of cute, much better than most other things they could put in its place)
Which brings me to my second point: Wizards seems to be running out of "space" from which to select these foils. I've thought over this issue pretty thoroughly, and it is only the first two of the above cards that I'd actually be wiling to bet on. This leaves wizards with four options under the current paradigm:
1. Increase card quality, offering better uncommons (As much as I'd Love to see a new Fire/Ice, I find this to be very unlikely.)
2. Decrease card quality and start printing chaff again. Tournament attendence would probably go down quite a bit if they started regualrly printing $2 bills instead of the $10-$15 range they've been hitting pretty regularly lately. They seem to be moving away from this, so I'd say pretty unlikely too.
3. "Waste" chances to give the new face to old cards by just giving out promos from mirrodin onward, or even current T2. This seems as if if would be really rather pointless, and is against precedent.
Which brings to the final option, which seems actually rather likely in light of the previous analysis:
4. Move to foiling out legacy commons/uncommons
Of course there would have to be significant restrictions on just what they could do (e.g. secondary market, current color pie, etc), but how hot would this be? (I'm imagining a Dark RItual with the beta art right now, and I doubt that would cause the prices of non-foils to drop by much ) Not to mention Hymn to Tourach, or maybe even Jackal Pup and/or Fanatic (nevermind that they were foiled in the old face) Even with all the factors to consider, the number of possibilites would take a very long time to exhaust.
Well, that was my first serious post here, and I wanted to get that off my chest. Sorry if it's been said before. Anyway, what do you all think?

I think we'll see some Mirage FNM Promos; simply because online they have erata, and there's no reason not to print SOME of the cards as FNM promos with the same art, new face, and new wording.
However, I'd like to see nice, playable, staple cards. Which means a Llanowar Elf, a Sakura Tribe Elder, a Hearth Kami, a Hana Kami (hell, just about anything from Gifts is probably okay).
Still, getting Counterspell and Cabal Therapy's solid. Maybe Wild Mongrel and Disciple of the Vault... oh, wait, that's banned. Silly me.
I personnally don't see the sense in FNM'ing cards that are already available in the current face without alternate art. I wonder if they might start putting alternate art on FNMs, or possibly even printing new cards under the old face. I know I'd be all over old face foil Skullclamp, even if it is banned in everything.

STE is a JSS foil this year, so I highly, HIGHLY doubt they would print another STE promo in the same year.
Elves of Deep Shadow are what I hope gets done. I hate the new art so to go back and do the old art in the new frame would be great.

The reason I play black according to CrovaxtheCursed:
I can't believe I didn't think of elves of deep shadow. That would be probably the only "look, the old art!" reprint that I'd really be psyched about. Steel Golem would be sweet too, if they went the mirage block route. However, the fact that most of the noteworthy, viable fnm foils from mirage block have already been made so [ (fireblast, impulse, ophidian, dissipate, gaea's blessing), and gemstone mine, which would have seemed like a good candidate, is now going for $100 on ebay as a judge foil ! ] makes this seem a little unlikely in my opinion, though I would love to see those old foils redone, especially ophidian and the blessing. Circular logic seems like it might make the cut, though I'm sure the DCI will wait another two months or so after counterspell to parcel out another piece of blue goodness.
also, to gwendly:
while overall that was a great list, as much as it would be "cute" if ol' (hur)loony were made a player rewards foil, I would be sorely dissappointed as it would essentially be a waste of what could have been a much better card (at least on par with tog or specter) , not to menton he's lost nearly all of his iconic status for players that started 7th ed or later (i think?) It's bad enough that I'm almost crying whenever I look at the prices on the new judge foils floating around, (deed, angle etc) but If the rewards can't even vaguely compare, well that will just be sad. (i hope this isn't considered a flame, trying to be polite here) Now, if they were to give it out in place of the textless spells or somesuch, that would be pretty cool. But he's not worth 20 events. true, but I was thinking that putrefy/helix, etc would actually be much cooler as textless spells, as those are already always current type 2 cards, and it would be a nice way to highlight the "goldness" of ravnica

I agree that most people wouldn't first of all get what the hype of hurloon is about, and then they would just sob that they missed out on a wasteland/powder keg/psychatog/hypnotic spectre quality card. I personally would find it hilarious And the only reason why judge foils are so much more expensive is because they don't give out as many and it's always the hottest cards. Even hermit druid is like $15+ and it's only allowed in vintage where it's hardly playable :/ Btw, don't worry I didn't feel your whole talking about hurloon as dissin'. I understand that it'll never happen I just thought it would be neat. I guess it's one of those things that I'd more likely to get across irl with facial expressions etc

Second rule of the FNM club... reprint $5+ uncommons only once or twice a year (Fact or Fiction, Cabal Therapy...)
Third Rule... reprint crappy, or semi-famous uncommons about 10 out of 12 times
so my suggestions:

There are still some neat mirage block cards that haven't been foiled out yet. Mystical Tutor, Dwarven miner, Wall of roots, Wordly tutor, Honorable passage, Tithe, Funeral Charm, Abeyance, Disrupt (ok foil in Invasion), Doomsday, Firestorm, Goblin Vandal, Null Rod etc.
Ok some of these are not that hot anymore but they are all decent.
