with the hippie leak one of the art is called "dwarf" anyone might think that they will show up in ravinca? if it supposedly the cross of of all the planes could that mean odd blcok showing up again? or dwarves being there in general?
as we found out that the picture is for a magazine....this doesnt really apply...but dwarves...yay?

Somebody found the speculated "hypnotic specter" art at Greg Staples' site. It was even called "Hypnotic Specter." Along witht this art are quite a few old cards, and 2 new ones, including the 9th edition Mahamoti Djinn art. The other was a picture entitled "dwarf."
That's the site everyone is talking about. There's more than just 3 new art pieces there, though. There's the new Mahamoti Djinn, the new Serra Angel, the Hippie art, and three I don't recognize labeled dwarf, tree man, and mindwiper.

Oh, okay. I do you know those either. Is the StapWizCoast one known as a card?
They have always done dwarves in red because of the association of the typical dwarf who worked in the mines and such. So I don't think a color switch on them is needed

the artwork titled 'StapWizCoast' was in a DnD book...cant remember which one now...either way, its a picture of the half-orc barbarian guy from the player's handbook (his name is krusk i think)...so, unfortunately, not another neato card =(
Besides the Hypnotic Specter, the only thing that I might speculate to be new Magic art is the tree man. It looks like other MtG treefolk, it's in the MtG letterbox format, and it was painted fairly recently. That said, my guess would be another 9th ed. reprint, rather than anything for Ravnica (treefolk are decidedly un-citylike).
But, the Hypster does seem to be a pretty clear leak. I hope that G_S hasn't violated his NDA!

Unfortunately for dwarves, about the only thing red about them is their habitat. In terms of habits, culture, etc., they're very white. One of the flaws in the color wheel.

The dwarf is NOT an art for M:tG. It is no where near the size of what WotC commissions. M:tG arts (at least now) are nomally about the same size, either horizontal, or square. NEVER vertical, for newer arts.

Agreed. White needs an iconic race, and red doesn't want them.
But then, does ANY color want them? We've already got elves, and whenever they print dwarves on top of them, things start to smell a bit like DnD. Putting dwarves in white (which makes sense specifically for Magic) would be a way to mask the DnD smell. So, count me in for that change.

Actually, I'd fare to say that their culture is U/W, what with all the secrets they keep.
Also, someone should download those images and attach them before WotC contacts Staples to take them down.

I have no extendo-sig. Sorry, I'm just not vain enough to think someone will click on it.
I'd love to see the return of dwarfs they're one of my favorite classical magic creature types. The art is most probably not mtg related though.
As for the idea of dwarfs being white, its just plain stupid, sure dwarfs are orderly miners, smiths and builders but they are also definitively mountain dwelling and their magic is fire related.
Is it really confirmation though? cause his art for duskworker is named Leaden Myr Creature
True, but then again, Duskworker was a new card in a new set, and unlikely to have a finalized name. The other ninth artworks - Serra Angel, Mahamoti Djinn are named Serra_Angel and Djinn, respectively, so it's very likely that it is indeed Hippie.
As for the Pic, It looks cool but seems way too chunky for a hippie I mean he's a 2/2 flier he's got himself quite a large mount compared to his other spectre buddies. I think even silent spectre may be getting a bit jealous.
there is no way that wizards will allow black to get hippy back. that whole random thing is all hush hush around wizards. that art work is very interesting though. are we sure that it is not for d and d. a new black night with bushido and a hippy. great turn 2 and turn 3 drops. would make magic fun again though

Yeah I have no idea what you guys are talking about wither. Thanks!

Also the Mindsweeper looks like Hypnox
Also I think Dwarfs make sense. Also MaRo said that an old creature type would return, Dwarfs?
*shrugs* No idea what it is, though.
Any ideas for the Stapwizcoast(WTF?) or the Mindwiper?
That's how to remember my name. Or, you could just read the Discworld Novels by Terry Pratchett. I recommend the second method.:)
And dear god, it's on the INTERNET! It has to be true!
...riight.

What is Dragon Magazine? Does it have anything to do with Magic?
