The fact that there are six occurrences strikes me as odd. As we suspect from the orb results that there will only be 1 gold card (the 8ggbb one), it would make sense that these descendents are a cycle, but the sixth? Maybe an artifact?? (e.g. "something" of the descendant?)
It could simplymean that the red one has some sort of direct damage ability. Like usually.
Indeed.. this may be one of the first times I can remember where I actually got my early info from mtg.com..
Staying off topic for a second, what's really quite humbling for us should be the fact that if wizards hadn't given out Opressive Will as a promo in magazines etc, we'd have NO cards on the spoiler list currently. Very interesting times to be sure.
I think flip cards referencing the word Descendant twice and Ascendant once is a possibility, as flip cards always say: 'When whatever happens, flip {Card name/something descendant}'' it references itself in the text box and in the card title, where as the ascendant part would only be once, in most cases.
Here's hoping they deliver some good flippers this set!
Probably be the "offspring" or relatives of the previous legends we've seen in Champions but with weaker stats. Look at Jeska compared to Kamahl, Pit Fighter. She's half his size, both physicality and ability but the same function nonetheless).

Ascendant = 10 so I think that there will be a cycle of 5 with each referencing itself in the text, with some sort of comes into play or goes to the grave effect. Ascend means "on the rise" or "rising" and connotes growth or progress so I'd guess that they will have a beneficial comes into play effect.
Descendant = 6 so we will either see 3 cards referencing themselves or 1 of each colour and a boosting card (artifact?). Descendant of course means later relative so it seems likely that they will bear a resemblence to other cards in magic and will of course be creatures.
The 4 Flip hits could be one for each Descendant (if there are atually 3) and and a universal Fliper to flip cards without satisfying their Flip conditions (e.g. Gift of Knowlwdge, or Ancestral Guidance etc.). could be something like Toshiro, Descendant of Tetsuo (much like the 2 Balthor's and Kamahl's in Odyssey block) and might reveal relationships previously unknown. Perhaps Konda and Michiko are descendants of some earlier Magic legend and have changed name of generations through marriage etc.

I'm old school, about as OLD school as they get. think 4th Edition/Ice Age old school. Unfortunatley in the "Real world" you cant Incinerate your bank manager and sadly now I have joined the ranks of the older population, and my time is taken up by things like reasearching Mortgage Refinance Rates and where to get the best possible mortgage quotes. I have however discovered the joys of Online Forex Trading which at least allows me to keep the bills in check!
Er, I think that people are looking too much at 'Descendant' in the meaning of 'scion', or the 'person who is descended from' meaning.
Since we know there is also 'ascendant', it makes more sense that these are used in another form. I don't know if Exalted pulled the terms from somewhere else, but Sidereals use 'ascendant' and 'descendant' to describe fates associated with certain constellations, generally in positive or negative form.

Its also used in plain old run of the mill astrology. Haven't picked up any Exalted books since the first one, but nice to know that White Wolf seems to do good research even for their extremely High Fantasy settings.

If it's not something like that, maybe it's a species thing: Descendant of the Orochi, Descendant of the Akki etc.
interesting.....if the name is anything to go by (LOL) they sound like cool cards haha.
but we have 4 hits for flip
10 for ascendant
6 for descendant
i doubt that they are flip cards but i would guess that they are the "saviors"

Perhaps those + some other random legends?

On topic, while it may have something to do with fate, 'fate', 'destiny', unmei, and sadame all come up as 0 on the Orb.
I guess it would make more sense as 'ascended'.
