When 9th becomes legal in T2, the Mirrodin block will see only a few months of legal-playing in T2 (Ravnica release is in October 7, leaving Mirrodin block legal only for about 3 months before the release of 9th) so my question to all:
Do you see any other cards (beside Thought Courier) from Mirrodin in 9th?
Considering mostly all cards are artifact related or have a block ability I want to make a list that I think its the more suitable cards to be reprinted in 9th:
Eh, I don't think Ensouled Scimitar will be in 9th, seeing how the card it was based on, Dancing Scimitar is known, and will have some great art as well, I might add.
i dont think jens will be in 9th either, because beginners dont get why its good, a litle kid passed me a foil one in draft, and could not understand why a card like that was valuable, so maybe having it would be a good lesson in card economics and their importants, but for most beguinners, i think opening one, rather then a flashy card like a dragon or something would be disapointing
Nice point on the Sliths, maybe considering that it would be great if they come back in 9th, also i realized naturalize its already on the list so, Oxidize its a no.
I would love to see the "free spells" of the Urza block in 9th, Snap , would be great for my W/U Control deck w/Hokori, but the only card "bad" enough to see 9th will be Rewind

Purge won't be reprinted since it would be out of color for starters and it would confuse them alot.
Molten Rain is just a remake of Stone Rain and it disappering anytime soon.
Guardian Idol I highly don't think so because the animating artfact may confuse too many people for a core set unless it a rare.
However I can See the Slith cycle reprinted and just about all of the equipment being reprinted.

MaRo has said that he felt those were a huge mistake, so those are NOT coming back! Just so you know....
Purge too confusing? what about Execute, i think its the exact opposite of Purge and it was printed in 8th.
Molten Rain its not Stone Rain if you destroy a City of Brass with Molten Rain it will deal 2 damage to you opponent, if you destroy it with Stone Rain nothing happens. But maybe you're right, they might reprint Demolish again, even though Pillage its much better.
Guardian Idol its not that confusing, but maybe you're right about the rarity and I don't think they will make it a Rare.
Harmless Opinion:
Mirrodin was a block full of awful ideas, one expansion after another filled with mediocrity, they tried to make Urza's Block again but the design got lost somewere between lowsy artifacts and few colored ideas, making it just a bad block. I think Mirrodin its one of those "never-remembered" blocks, with just a handfull of good ideas (as Eternal Witness) and that will leave behind only one really strong deck behind for Extended: Affinity
Lets face it, Tooth and Nail its too slow for Ext. Maybe with a little help from blue, it could make a difference, but all those Mirrodin Block decks will never be remembered.
I'm Just happy they designed Champions of Kamigawa :smile3:

I must not have been clear, I saidied it's too confusing because it's out of flavor. The ability is fine but it's out of color and most likely NOT reprinted in 9th but maybe in after that.

Yeah, but since when does flavor matter in the core set? We've got tribes of creatures from all over, that's gotta confuse people as far as flavors concerned....if anything. Actually, if anything, it's totally IN flavor.
Terror kills anything that isn't black or artifact preventing regeneration.
Purge is the white counterpart killing anything black or artifact.
It follows the law of how every action causes an equal and opposite reaction. As i said, if anything, this is very much in flavor.

Drop by my Helpdesk if you have any questions/concerns on the Limited forum.
Excited for M13 Limited? What do you think the format will look like? Head over to the limited forum and let us know what you think.
What I mean is that white doesn't get targeted creature removal. Yes, it had Swords to plowshares. Vengeance too. But if white destroys a creature is because it destroys every other creature too, or because the creature damaged you before, or because it is a damage redirection effect or it is an attacking creature or or or... well. When white destroys creatures in a targeted way it is because of the "don't mess with me or my friends" flavor. White doesn't get simple "destroy target creature. period" spells. So Purge shouldn't be printed in 9th.
Ok, Ok, tranquilo, no te pongas loco...
Maybe you're right about Purge , but i didn't said that it WILL be printed I only said in that list, that those are the only cards that MAY be printed, because they aren't "artifact-related".
The only thing real is that sometimes White and Black are the exact opposite:
And also most of the white creature-destroyer spells are conditional, maybe in the flavor of chastity of heart, or to kill really big, bad monsters or something:
Just to add to the arguement, theres a good chance that Wrath won't be reprinted in ninth anyways. As much as I love Wrath, I think that wizards will opt to include Retaliate(In flavour of white) or Final Judgement(Even with wizards explanation, I don't see how this isn't arcane, especially since it makes sense to have an Arcane mass-destruction spell in the block somewhere.)
Purge too confusing? what about Execute, i think its the exact opposite of Purge and it was printed in 8th.
Technically speaking, Terror is the exact opposite of Purge. Purge doesn't have the "simple" feel of a Core Set card.
Mirrodin will definitely be remembered as an overpowered and broken block. It has 2 cards from the block restricted in Type 1, another (CoW) that was on the brink for a short time, EIGHT cards banned in T2, and 1 memorable card banned in every format except T1 (and BTW, that card is fueling a top deck in T1 now too, stupid Kobolds).
As far as what cards I think will be reprinted, let me use chaos's list.
Awe Strike - meh. I guess it could see print, but I wouldn't exactly expect it. There don't tend to be many damage prevention cards in core sets, and I don't think Healing Salve is going anywhere.
Leonin Skyhunter - I could definitely see this get printed.
Luminious Angel - No. There are almost no upkeep abilities in core sets (I know there was one in 8th but that hardly sets a trend) and I think they'd print a better one than this if they chose to.
Rule of Law - Well, Arcane Laboratory was in 7th, so I suppose it's a possibility.
Tempest of Light - Same situation as RoL, except replacing Arc Lab with Tranquility. I don't see why not.
Second Sunrise - I don't think mass recursion at instant speed is fitting for a core set. But then, there's not much precedent, so there's no way to tell. I think it's too complicated by WotC's standards.
Pulse of the Fields - As much as I'd like to see it, I thikn the whole situational buyback thing isn't really right for a core set.
Test of Faith - Like upkeep abilities, there are slim to no +1/+1 counters, and as I already said, there's very little damage prevention. I don't think they'd put a card in the core set that did both.
Skyhunter Prowler - I don't see why not. It would be a good choice if they wanted to showcase the new Vigilance keyword at all.
Vanquish - It has precedent for attacking creatures, and it really fits for a core set, but my gut is telling me no here.
Wanderguard Sentry - They don't print cards THIS bad in core sets, do they?
Echoing Truth - Nah, the whole Echoing cycle doesn't seem like a good fit for a core set. We'll probably just keep Boomerang.
Last Word - We already have Rewind, I don't think they'd put 2 hard counters in a core set.
Advanced Hoverguard - I can't think of any untargetable creatures that have ever been in a core set before, so I have to say no for lack of precedent.
Vedalken Mastermind - the tribal name is a strike against it, though it doesn't eliminate it. That said, I think this card requires more skill to use right than WotC wants in a core set, since the set is supposed to target new players. New players will think this card is even worse than it is.
Thought Courier - Already confirmed. 300 cards to go.
Barter in Blood - Innocent Blood was never in a core set, so I have to go with no due to history.
Dross Prowler - Confirmed. 299 to go.
Flayed Nim - I think it would get a lot more play if it were in a core set. IMO, this was the best card never to be used in Mirrodin, so I hope it gets into 9th. I don't see why it couldn't.
Necrogen Mists - kinda iffy here. The effect is fine, but as a rare? Black has enough bad rares *coughWarped Devotioncough*.
Reiver Demon - The noobs would LOVE it. I'd like to see this replace Plague Wind, it is a little better, even semi-playable in the right deck.
Woebearer - Maybe. No reason to doubt it, but no reason to think it either.
Echoing Decay - see Echoing Truth. Maybe we can upgrade from Nausea to Infest.
Grimclaw Bats - sort of fits in with Woebearer. No evidence for it, no evidence against it.
Chittering Rats - Nah. We'll keep Ravenous. It's simpler and noobs don't see the advantage of Chittering's effect.
Beacon of Unrest - I can't imagine the Beacons getting printed in a core set, just because of their shuffle ability. Also, taking things from an opponent's graveyard isn't something I think WotC wants new players to do.
Cackling Imp - Hey, why not. From what I can think of, Maggot Carrier was the only life-loss card in 8E, but I think this can fit. Nice generic name too.
Goblin Striker - The problem here is, what will it replace? I think it's safe to say Raging isn't leaving, and I think that's the only way Striker could get in.
Mass Hysteria - Concordant Crossroads has been out for a long time...but I don't see why this couldn't get printed.
Shatter - It was in 8th, so why not.
Vulshok Berserker - Maybe replacing Goblin Chariot? Could happen.
Shunt - Nah. I don't think Red will be getting spell manipulation in a core set at least until 10th. The whole redirection ability is still up in the air between Red and Blue, so why confuse the new players more?
Vulshok Sorcerer - I can definitely see this.
Granulate - I'd rather them just bring back Shatterstorm, but I think one of the other will happen.
Battlegrowth - Nah, it treads on an ability that WotC likes to just barely touch, and it does it in the most blatant way possible.
Cooperhoof Vorrac - Could happen. It'd be a nice fatty for Limited.
Creeping Mold - Like Shatter, it was in 8th, so why not.
Fangren Hunter - Definitely could be. No rason to doubt it.
Trolls of Tel-Jilad - The "Tel-Jilad" turns me off to it, because that's more than a tribe, it's a plane-specific location. So I have to go with no.
Stand Together - See Battlegrowth, except this one is more confusing so definitely not.
Pulse of the Tangle - See Pulse of the Fields.
Rite of Passage - See Battlegrowth/Stand Together.
Bonesplitter - I think it'll be there if they add equipment.
Alpha Myr - Why? then again, why not?
Damping Matrix - Too complicated for new players, and prety useless considering the number of vanilla (or close to vanilla) creatures in a core set.
Goblin Charbelcher - WAY too complicated. No.
Leonin Scimitar - I think Bonesplitter is a better bet. "Leonin" hurts it a bit too.
Slagwurm Armor - welllllll....maybe. That's all I can say.
Angels Feather
Demons Horn
Dragons Claw
Krakens Eye
Wurms Tooth - Replacing the Charms. Sure. I think they're better anyway.
Avarice Totem - No. The true use of Avarice Totem was "10: Exchange control of 2 target permanents". Not many new players would catch that, so it would be wasted space.
Guardian Idol - I think enough's been said about this one. My opinion: No.
Thanks for the great (and BIG also) answer. I think Mirrodin wasn't an overpowered (broken it is) block, i think they went too far with so much artifacts, Urza´s block only had a few artifacts (even though it is artifact cycle), maybe overpowered (prehaps the most broken block ever made), but all the block was LEVELED!
My point with Urza´s block is that... they already had made that mistake!!!! they banned all those cards in block (I mean Tolarian Academy , Gaea's Cradle , Memory Jar , Serra's Sanctum , Time Spiral , Voltaic Key , Windfall ) because those cards were overpowered, but even with those you can see that the Urza's block (and Rith's) is one of the most used block in Extended, and that is because... (again) it was LEVELED, they had great white, blue, black, red, and green cards, NOT ONLY THE ARTIFACTS!!!, thats why Mirrodin wont be used that much in Extended because the best ideas were spoiled in artifacts, leaving the other colors alone, except for a few cards, Tooth and Nail , Eternal Witness , but please show me one outstanding white card in Mirrodin!, what i mean its that with those bannings (now i mean Ravager, DOTV, and the Artifact Lands, dont care about Skullclamp) most of the block lost all it's power (affinity and modular), making it a mediocre block...
Why is it people think that core sets won't have card names that reference tribes or places? Let's just look at 8th, shall we?
Anaba Shaman - Homelands tribe of Minotaurs
Balduvian Horde - Clearly, as this is no tribal name (Balduvian dead, spellcasters, etc) this is a region specific to Ice Age/Alliances.
Death Pits (and Furnace) of Rath - It's a place, somehow its death pits and furnaces found their way to Dominaria
Fyndhorn Elder - You're gonna tell me things named after places/tribes can't get in a core set?
Hammer of Bogardan - Why is it that you think that?
Mogg Sentry - Has Wizards ever said anything about shunning tribal names in core sets? If they have they need to figure out why this guy isn't "Goblin Sentry" and why he's in 8th
Nantuko Disciple - No, seriously, don't talk out of your ass about what WotC will and won't do...
Phyrexian Arena (etc)- Because they have no issues with mentioning other planes, apparently, even though this one is mentioned repeatedly in many, many sets it sets a precedent
Rushwood Dryad - That other cards have followed in
Face it, if R&D wants a specific card, they don't care what the name is as long as it fits their needs. Fact is, tribes and tribal/regional names have been part of the game since Alpha and they aren't going to throw cards out of contention simply because their sames aren't generic enough.
........but please show me one outstanding white card in Mirrodin.......
Well, the best I can think of is Leonin Skyhunter, which sees some play in T1/Extended WW decks. But yeah, I can agree that the block was unbalanced. Affinity IS good in every format though (well maybe not so much 1.5), and in post-rotation Extended, TNN could have potential, though that's yet to be seen.
Chichiri, there's exceptions, but for the most part, WotC tries not to incorporate too much of other storylines into core sets. Some of your examples (Nantuko, Phyrexian, Balduvian, Bogardan, Rath, Anaba...wait, all of them) were from tribes or places that spanned a number of blocks, so it's not really incorporating anything specific from any storylines, but instead it's simply bringing in a piece of Magic history. Heck, some cards (like Serra Angel) may seem like they have a tribe, but there was no story for Magic when it was first created.
Echoing Truth - Nah, the whole Echoing cycle doesn't seem like a good fit for a core set. We'll probably just keep Boomerang.
I do believe we will lose boomerang, but not to echoing truth, but rather to Regress. You know, folowing WotC's whole 'let's weaken blue' plan.

Your name made me think of one no one has mentioned that I think has a chance. When you think of it it is obvious as a plant. A card that teachs new players about a certain kind of card. One that is simple. One which has been named so that it can be brought back. Conjurer Bauble
I saw the list at the beginning, and I saw Eternal Witness. :yikes:
There is absoultely no way that card will be reprinted, EVER. It was way too broken and was at the brink of banning in standard. Regrowth should be CAREFULLY considered when R&D made Witness. I think I remember they said that it was originally at 3GG for 2/1, but then pushed to 1GG.

Actually i dont think its really THAT broken.
I mean it is broken, but not as much as ravager (or its hole crew), the only situation where Eternal Witness might be broken in 9th, its if they reprint Tooth and Nail, or if R/G Ponza its viable and in ponza you wouldnt even think about using Eternal Witness. Eternal Witness its only powerful with the right cards, not by itself (like Tooth and Nail itself)

Solemn Simulacrum
Raise the Alarm
Sliths cycle (Already a Rumor, but considering the counters i dont think it they will see reprint)
Consume Spirit
Terror (even though its not a Mirrodin card)
Molten Rain
Troll Ascetic
Geth's Grimoire
Juggernaut
Chittering Rats
Oxidize (I prefer Naturalize, but its a possibility)
Last Word
Purge
Eternal Witness
Guardian Idol
The Equipment: (Already a Rumor, great for begginers)
Mask of Memory
Lightning Greaves
Bonesplitter
Empyrial Plate
Nightmare Lash
Vulshok Morningstar
Whispersilk Cloak
Ensouled Scimitar
Grafted Wargear
Maybe more common cards are a possiility, I guess i will leave it to you for speculation, I left all the artifact-related cards out.

Great card analysis though!:-)

I cannot spell
