I'm thinking it's either a From The Vault announcement, or if not actually product related it could possibly be something like you make the card contest or a new designer search contest.
Anouncement: Core sets will be back because it was a mistake to remove them and a great place for out-of-flavor reprints without needing to print functional copies (like painlands, slivers etc).
That would be awesome, even if it's not happening.
Someone asked MaRo about the neo-legacy format on Tumblr and he was entirely confused. It was an embarrassing example of the way the echo chamber works. People get themselves so worked up over hypothetical speculations that they become entirely convinced it's confirmed fact.
I`ve been torturing myself with trying to get this across on here and on Source lately (where people seem almost as determined), but obviously it`s been an exercise in futility. There have been exactly no, none, zero signs at all from WotC that there might be a new format such as a no reserved list legacy. One "what if" article on Goldfish (not even meant as speculation) and some completely baseless and utterly ridiculous video speculating on the fact that the product name "Eternal Masters" echoes the name Vintage Masters and Modern Masters except that there is no format named Eternal ("yet...!"), and voila, this new format that forum users and bloggers have dreamed up among themselves, out of thin air, seems as obvious and unavoidable as a Stoneforge Mystic unban in Modern (oops!).

At this point it looks more like stores wanting the format to be a thing while WotC and collectors/RL hoarders don't seem to want it to be a thing, with stores waiting for WotC to make a move before they pull an EDH.
It's not gonna come from WotC, it's not gonna be a supported format, much less a PT format, but Unresserved will be a thing sooner than later because EMA showed everyone there are a bunch of people with deep pockets who don't want Legacy to survive.
Maybe, just maybe, WOTC will eventually revisit Extended with the purpose of finding the middle ground for a 'new' eternal format. But that may come around sometime after EMA has been out and more people clamour to use the sweet cards they just opened from those pricey packs.
As a strictly Commander player, I'm hoping this announcement is for a sealed product. But for the sake of the forums and other conversations I read, something for modern or legacy would be good, too.

In all honesty, I think modern and legacy are the stuff of nightmares for the WoTC development team and they probably wish they never existed, hence why they've been avoiding trying to support either group directly and hoping that trickle down from standard and core sets would work. That didn't turn out to be the case and with people wanting true support (and WoTC being unwilling to actually start doing sizable print runs of sealed decks with needed cards), they've turned to making Modern and Eternal masters.
My feeling is that they will probably talk about the FtV and if we are lucky they will talk about the current modern season and what they might be doing in the future to solve some of the current seasons issues. Otherwise, not expecting much.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
This no RL Legacy idea seems lame anyway. Cannibalizing formats for so little benefit would be nonsensical, and have the most unwieldy banlist ever. Anyway, today is probably FTV or the next Duel Deck.

Can you name all of the creature types with at least 20 cards? Try my Sporcle Quiz! Last Updated: 6/29/20 (Core Set 2021).
It would be nice if it was the Eternal Masters list, but that is a pipe dream, even if it would make the most sense. It would give stores time to "cash-out" of reprints if they wanted.
I hope its something that addresses (and even more hopefully settles some of) the recent spade of problems arising (leaks, rumors, ban policies, lack of Modern testing, communication channels...).
I'm expecting just the FTV announcement.
I hope it's not something to add on to the spade of problems.
What I hope and expect are two different matters.
EDIT: Never mind. Expectations met while I was typing this post.
Please people, stop pretending there will be an emergency banning in modern. For that matter, stop pretending the problem in modern is wizards fault and not your own. Modern has 15 years worth of cards, but gets entirely hosed by one deck of mostly STANDARD cards, out of what has been considered a weak standard set at that?! If we hear anything about the state of modern tonight, it will be that modern is thriving with a brand new archetype and they were finally able to shake up the stale modern format featuring the same few decks as tier one for years. Time to make new decks modern players, not just whine about how the ones you have used for years without ever really losing are now finally losing. Expect what people said above, a predictable announcement like FTV or updates on previously known commodities like eldritch moon

Can you please explain what you mean by this? Do you think the current Eldrazi dominance in Modern is as it is because we the players are doing something wrong?

He's just one more standard kiddie who has never played against MUD and has no concept of how ******* unfair MUD in MODERN can be.
And of course, one of those "very hard working" people who think you can slot a square peg in a round hole by just working harder

Add Eldrazi Temple and Eye of Ugin to standard and see what happens. When you have Sol lands, the results can be rather dominating.
