When Nissa, Vastwood Seer enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a basic Forest card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.

The pics in the original thread would be good to add-
it's *possible* they're fakes, but they look very real,
and use artwork we haven't seen.
EDIT: just realized they were under the spoiler tag.
Jace is potentially very strong for a two drop.
Nissa has great abilities, but an utter BS flip condition.
I guess she's intended for midrange/control?

That Nissa is super awkward. Everything about her clashes with other aspects of the card. Low CMC but requires a super high land count to transform, creating legedary tokens......Maybe she will be fine as wonky borderland ranger, and maybe the fact that she can be relevant early or late will be what makes her good.

The legendary token thing probably has something to do with her origin story, rather than a power-level consideration.
Two-mana creature flips into a 5-loyalty 'walker before tick-up. He doesn't do a ton that early, when there's not likely to be much in your graveyard worth flashbacking, but just sitting there and weakening aggro creatures buys you multiple turns. The emblem is...inevitability, I guess. Eventually. It's weird that he flips so easily but does so little on the board that early. But just having a 6-loyalty 'walker on turn 3 (Commune flips him by itself, as does the much weaker Taigam's Scheming) that's stemming the tide against aggro and slowly ticking up to a control win-con might still be worth it.
Nissa's the reverse: great abilities, slow flip condition relative to her mana cost...and also relative to her starting loyalty. You need 7 lands to flip her! Why does she only start at 3 loyalty? On the plus side, she's a really nice card to flip off of a late-game Collected Company...in that she flips shortly after that and proceeds to provide immediate card advantage. Doesn't do much beyond that (the fact that the token is legendary hurts, bar some "legends matter" mechanic or card in an upcoming set), and her flip condition is counter to what Elf decks like to do (ramp with creatures instead of lands). Ehh.
Doesn't give me high hopes for Gideon - Liliana's still the best revealed so far, provided these are real.

"The true measure of all heroes is not what they achieve, but who they inspire." —Triumph of Gerrard
After spending a good part of the day watching the Modern GP in Charlotte and seeing how easy it is to have 5 cards in the GY by Turn 3, I think Jace could definitely find some homes in that format. I even saw a couple of Turn 2 Tasigur's being cast, so I think transforming Jace on T3 when he's first able to tap, is quite possible.
Putting a Legendary token is very, very weird for a Planeswalker. Basically she can tick down once, and while the token is still on the battlefield she can only tick up (great first ability though). Her flip condition is also very hard to achieve, while Liliana, Chandra and Jace seems very easy to ignite their spark.
Yeah flipping Jace isn't the issue, it's just his abilities I dont like all too much unless we are getting some good removal to get the best out of his second ability. Additionally Im unsure if the Emblem is what I want to be doing with Delve in each format. 'free' Tasigur for everyone? Yikes.
Right. Like, I think that we'll wish his flip ability was a may ability more often than not. Looters are good cards and that back side is a classic 2 mana planeswalker. So much better if "May" was there.

I'd love Nissa more if she wasn't limited to search only for basic Forests. Not sure what kind of deck wants her.
Jace might be quite powerful in Dredge decks. It can basically flip the turn it activate his ability for the first time and then cast something you just milled to your graveyard. His ultimate seems unimpressive though. Even in a mill deck I'd probably prefer to use his second ability to cast another Glimpse the Unthinkable or some similar card.
My own rules when building a Commander deck:
1) Underrated general that I can build around but the deck must work without him/her too.
2) Every card must be legal in both banlists.
3) No infinite combo that could win (and ruin) instantly a multiplayer game.
4) Synergy at all costs; stay on theme, avoid goodstuff.
It's possible we'll see more land ramp than we have in recent sets. Early mana acceleration has been limited to creatures the last few sets. Not a Rampant Growth or a Farseek to be seen.

Yeah that was my very first thought seeing him was that I desperately wished it was a may; he'd already make for a solid looter if it was one.

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)
T2: play Jace
T3: Play Lilliana, activate Jace(1 card in yard)
T4: Play Gurmag Drowner, exploit himself(5 cards in yard), flip Lilli, activate and flip Jace.
Not the most Christmas-y of Magical Christmas lands. Don't know what sort of deck this could be built into but hey it's a thing.
I think Jace is a really good 2 drop for UW control moving forward, being able to improve card quality that early is good. And his walker side does keep you alive I guess. Shame that Nissa is better card advantage than a blue walker though
So 4/5 of them known and Liliana is still the best of them?
- She still has the best creature stats of all of them(lol). 2/3 with Lifelink compared to 2/2 and 0/2.
- Her flip trigger is by far the easiest to fulfill and actually has an impact on the game. It's really awkward for your opponent to attack or block or to play kill spells on your other creatures as long as she is on the battlefield.
- She is the only one that can flip immediately as soon as you can play her on curve. Jace and Chandra both require an activation of their tap ability so they can't and Nissa requires you to have 7 lands in play which you surely won't have on turn 3 when you can technically play her.
- All three of her abilities are potential sources for actual card advantage just like on her $100 version
- She is the only one with a +2 ability and it synergieses very well with her -X ability since you get to reanimate the creatures that you may have discarded while your opponent will just have lost cards.
- And to top it all of you even get 2/2 Zombie token for free when flipping her that you can use as protection for her or additional pressure.
It really makes sense now why they revealed her at PAX East. The crowd would have surely not been blown away by any of these others.
Im kinda sad now. I really hoped they would all turn out awesome considering something like them were never done before but Wizards seemed to have played it really safe with them. Too safe
Of course only if these are actually real.

After further rereading Nissa is only bad because her flip condition is too much. It's a hell of a deck building cost.
