Also, according to the article, they are making 5 more 2-color flashback spells, but with the reverse colors.
So -
White with Green flashback - Ray of Revelation
Green with red flashback - new card
Red with black flashback - new card
Black with blue flashback - new card
Blue with white flashback - new card
I can't wait to see how they turn out.
Pretty sure he means reverse as in the other enemy color. So White w/ Black flashback, etc.
Is anybody else kinda disappointed with the new mechanics? Not power wise, but just in that we didn't really get anything interesting. I mean I've seen reverse Persist numerous times in the custom card forum and Fateful Hour (which is a dumb name) is the same "if you have N or less life" mechanic that everybody and their brother thought of.
The cards are great though. I love the demon. "Sacrifice a Human." Can't wait to see more!
Strangleroot Geist- So 2/1 for GG with haste and a reverse persist effect I like the card and the mechanic I also feel like they could print some very broken cards with this so be on the lookout for that during the spoiler season.
Thraben Doomsayer- 1ww 2/2 with a token making ability seems pretty powerful if you ask me I wonder how relevant the Fateful Hour ability will be on these cards.
What it will do though at least is make them all great topdecks in the lategame since that is when more than likely there extra ability will be turned on overall I also like this mechanic it should make for some very interesting limited anyway and if this guy is turned on the +2+2 is kind of game ending in the decks he would fit into.
Hunger of the Howlpack- Nice to see Morbid back I felt like they needed to explore it a bit further than they did in innistrad as for this pump spell it seems ok if you can achieve morbid otherwise it's obviously very mediocre possible combat trick I guess
Ray of Revelation- Nice to see the other side of Ancient Grudge reprinted should be good in standard against cards like Angelic Destiny especially if your GW otherwise Urgent Exorcism is probably just as good.
Chalice of Life- Wow interesting artifact flip cards I'll be interested to see how these work out in practice as for the chalice seems pretty bad to me unless there is some sort of lifegain theme in limited so really it's to early to tell but more often than not lifegain effects and artifacts haven't been good so I doubt this one will change that.
Curse of Thirst- I'm still waiting to see another playable curse other than death's hold I can't imagine this card will ever be good in limited or constructed it's way to expensive and requires other curses to do any relevant amount of damage.
Soul Seizer- Now this is a sweet card seems like it's probably absurd in limited being a mind control once you connect with it even if it is only a 1/3 I can't imagine this wont be good.
In constructed though it's clearly to expensive especially when it only offers a 1/3 body.
Just saying, Chalice of Life/Death is going to be insane. People are going to gain life like crazy, transform, and kill hardcore... Especially because it only costs 3 mana. Imagine, in a lifegain deck, casting that on turn 3, turn 4, cast something silly to gain life and then flipping it. Take 5, pass. Take 5, pass. Take 5, pass. I hope your Fateful Hour mechanic is good enough...

In the "OMG MINDBLOWN" sense yes.
I like undying though. It is a fun and CA mechanic.
Fateful Hour is... OK. It is easier (and riskier) to abuse in constructed, but in limited I love it. It allows for awesome come backs. Though it will cause less attacking at times. Looks like a Timmy mechanic, but is really a Spike mechanic.
Nearheath Stalker is a bit of a shame, especially considering its anti-synergy with Rakish Heir. Not the best start for the tribe in DKA...but it is a common.
Increasing confusion is just amazing. You can abuse that as another infinite mana win-con that's not as hard to set up as some others.
OR
Mill your zombies into the yard so they can come back tapped with Apocalypse. I'm really loving that card.
It's funny, of the 13 (obviously on purpose) cards they spoiled, they seemed to have something for everyone.
Undying is an awesome reverse form of persist. And if Strangleroot Geist is anything to go by it's not going to be stuck on a heap of underpowered creatures. Seriously that geist is insanely strong a 2/1 hasty creature is solid especially in green(where haste is unusual) but a 2/1 hasty creature that if it's killed comes back as a 3/2 is something that might just make green/x aggro decks worth a try(it's also obviously nice with Birthing Pod).
Fateful Hour reminds me a lot of Convalescent Care and while I can see it being okay in limited, in constructed only the cards which are good before the trigger will be worth anything(Gather the Townsfolk for instance is a solid white Dragon Fodder before fateful hour and absolutely insane afterwards).
Curse of Thirst makes a curse deck a bit more viable although the 5cc will probably kill it.
Increasing Confusion is sure to be a casual mill deck staple but is doubtful to do anything in constructed.
My favourite card revealed though is Gravecrawler a 2/1 for B which can't block would have been solid enough but the ability to replay it from the graveyard if you control a zombie is insane and with this and Diregraf Ghoul a mono black aggro deck(possibly zombie tribal) might just be constructed viable.
As soon as I went to the home page, I saw the magic words: "..., then destroy all Humans."
"Destroy all Humans."
"Destroy all Humans."
There's no describing my laughter. It got better with Ravenous Demon's "Sacrifice a Human". I honestly think they wouldn't print something like that. Now, nobody will leave my shop alive come Prerelease.
Like the new White cards for my Human deck so far. Thraben Doomsayer makes my opponents make sure they can kill me quickly (hello, Spare from Evil:D), and Gather the Townsfolk is an (potentially) even stupider version of the Raise the Alarm reprint I was hoping for.
..... wait a minute. Those cards produce HUMAN TOKENS?! I think Champion of the Parish just got even crazier. Also, sorry, Stangg. You're not the only guy to make a Human token anymore.
Edit: Also, I think Werewolves might have almost officially become a deck. Tovolar's Magehunter is just funny. So's Gravecrawler, making my necromantic urges strike me even more.
The effect could prove so discombobulating to combo players, in particularly, they may fizzle and run away screaming. "From that day the Curse of the Plateau was upon me, and I found every hand I ever pull from a combo deck is a mulligan."

I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.

From playing playing martyr of sands style decks in modern I can say that getting to 30 life is not that hard especially now with the banning of wild nacatl.
It won't be that difficult to flip this artifact especially on turn 3 and from turn 4 on you are just smacking them for 5 damage a turn. This card will be disgusting in that deck.
For limited it will most likely be too weak to play.
Chalice has got to be the most awesome and flavorful card I have seen in a long time. At least they got the life thing right. If they set it at 30, it would be an auto-include in pretty much any EDH deck that has heard of attacking.

I think the flavor text gives some explanation and makes it fit.

Thoughts on proxies:
Even Nearheath Stalker? Yeah, it's okay in limited, but still...
In the "OMG MINDBLOWN" sense yes.

So Pro I have an alpha Volcanic Island
Mondronen Shaman- Cool effect, though pretty expensive and time consuming to get it off
Stranglewood Geist- Ridiculous. Talk about power creep.
Zombie Apocalypse- Awesome name. Cool effect. I hope there's a viable Zombie deck so I can put this in it.
Gravecrawler- The first part of a viable Zombie deck. This guy's pretty freaking good and combos well with the blue self-mill zombies.
So, he said they are going the reverse way on the color wheel.
WUBRG is the normal direction, so reverse would be GRBUW with each spell having a flashback cost of the next color in line.
OR
Mill your zombies into the yard so they can come back tapped with Apocalypse. I'm really loving that card.

plus a 1 green mana werewolf, cant wait to see them all
