i don't care if men look like girls, keep corsets on doods out of magic.
it's not hating , it's not homophobic, it's just what i'd prefer. as others do also.
I just don't want people allowing this nature of art on cards cause before you know it, it's on everything. So there must be public out lash, as shown, and hopefully they limit it. i can care less if mr. manhatten is in """""FULL"""" costume" on the cards, i rather they just know that it's not the direction i want all cards to go in. specifically all vampires.
What is "this nature of art" you are referring to? And check out all the past vampires, this isn't really all that different. If it's not the direction you want, MTG vampires pretty much took this direction since a long time.
Arkham, the 1920's. Investigators battle horrors from beyond time and space, risking life and sanity while conspiracies of cultists and malign servitors seek gateways for their outer gods to return...
Soon, the stars will be right! Great Cthulhu shall rise!

So any deviation from what you consider normal is a no-go for an entire community?
I promise you there are plenty of magic cards I don't like the art on, but I understand that Magic has a diverse base of players and WoTC needs to appeal to all of them.
So I don't complain when we get a bunch of cards that look like the only comments adding to them were "MORE FLAMES AND SKULLS AND METTALLLL".
I guess vampires are no longer soulless undead abominations driven by an eternal, insatiable hunger and the torment of the damned? Because that's what I'm getting here.
I find it a little odd that all the cards depicting worship of demons, murder, and torture have had a smaller backlash than this.
I find it odd that a fantasy game decides to have any sort of sexual depiction in the game whether it be this card in question or any of the hundreds of angels or whatnot. I would be perfectly happy if they keep the sex stuff out and let me handle the demons torturing and murdering.
Again, make believe and fantasy is one thing. Sex and sexualization is another.

Males are... weird about this matter. Most Magic players, to my knowledge, are male.
Anyway, enough about the apparent homosexuality of the artwork (and I always get a feeling that when someone calls this "gay" they mean that in a negative way). I think this is actually a decent card... at least, for limited. Kind of wish there was a Tormented Soul-like vampire. I... guess Interloper is close?
This'll probably still be mostly a limited card, I'd guess.

Ok, I give you this one. Why oh why has Wizards decided to put a sexual twist on vampires, where there was none before? That's sick and perverted of them. I mean, vampires seducing their victims? Unprecedented! Especially on a card that tries to channel an Anne Rice character! How dare they!
Fantasy never done this! I mean, Little Red Riding Hood was about cookies, right!?

Sure they are. But why shouldn't they torment the damned with their insatiable hunger in style?
Neat card. Hopefully we get some other actual good vampires other than this, Olivia, and Stromkirk. The curve is looking very nice for a B/R vampire aggro deck.
Stromkirk
Curse of Stalked Prey
Rakish Heir
Olivia

Guess what? Sex exists. Sex is something natural, and people (or non-people, depending on what plane you're on) will naturally take advantage of it.
It's kind of improbable that no culture, fantasy or otherwise, would fail to have their sexualized elements.
Everything scares me... kitties scare me... squirrels scare me... corpses....corpses bring forth a pletora of confusing feeling which i prefer not to dwell on...:p
hmmmm i dont like. unlike other lords that are good, this one doesnt do anything right away when it hits the board. it doesnt make your team immediately stronger for the next swing. Maybe not a big deal to most, and it certainly isnt a terrible card, but not the great vampire lord that the deck kind of needs to be really good imo.
maybe we will get one still? probably not, and im ok with that

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
Meaning ABSOLUTELY nothing. Tell me how a women illustrating this artwork proves the assumption many ITT are expressing that artwork of men dressed in whats typically seen as women clothing, is a turn on or attractive, or meant to pull them in more than they already have been from other facets of this game? Some may, but lets not pretend for an instant that its really meant for the females to get excited over. Its for the other crowd that its aimed at, the gay male one. Which trust me, many gay men will find absurd and offensive because it assumes that because of their sexuality, they enjoy whats basically crossdressing and feminine males. Many gay men dont enjoy crossdressing and "lady-boys" in the least. In fact many detest it - not all of them though - which is fine as well.

Welcome to backwards-land, where torturing and murdering are a-ok, but a little angel cleavage or sexy vampire dude is right out.
Twilight. Anne Rice. V:tM. Need I say more? It's clear that WotC is pulling out all the stops with Innistrad to appeal to as many different kinds of horror fans as possible. I am anti-surprised that they would throw a couple bones to the horror-romance crowd. Sure, that's not the core M:tG audience, but who says Innistrad isn't the perfect opportunity to bring in a new core audience? I mean... why else would you produce a flavor-driven set if not to appeal to a wider potential group of players?

It's ONE card that is appealing to a small niche of players who will appreciate it. If Wizards dedicated a whole series of cards with this look, I could maybe follow your point more, but one card art appealing to a demographic that DOES exist, however small, is fine.
Regardless of the art, the card makes me wants to make a vampire deck finally, with the other fellow vampires that have been spoiled. I know it will never reach more than casual level tier, but it can be fun I think. Could be totally worth the few dollars that would be needed to buy the needed vamps.
Indeed, the flavour text should've been "Don't get strung out, by the way I look".
Seriously though, when we have Angels flying into battle wearing thongs and the skimpiest armour ever I don't see the problem with a bloke in a corset.
I'm calling it in Dark Ascension; a mechanic for vampires revolving around codpieces.
An equipment that gives huge stat bonuses as long as it is worn by vampires or Frost Titan.
I have no idea what the fuss is about, the entire theme is based around Gothic Horror. This piece exactly fits what a Marilyn Manson music video would have as actors.
If you're religious, and using the internet, you should damn well know by now that not everyone agrees with you. It's most likely impossible to appease every culture and religion and their current modern allegations towards media. It is truly simple to respect the other's coexistence with your own however.
Speaking of the card's mechanic,
I think it's a good power level for uncommon both in limited, and is potentially constructed viable depending on the support for each tribe.
We need watered down cards based on the power level for the past five years of standard.
I guess if the wife ignored him since they've "produced" the child 7 or 13 years ago, every single item on earth is getting sexual :p:D:tongue:

good point, didn't think about that! well done!
Who all believes this sort of blanket crap? Too many singles apparently with little to no experience with actual women.
The ACTUAL card though, is good for an uncommon lord.

I think peoples' insecurities are showing, here.
Agreed, however, I did not imply that if that was aimed at my previous postings ITT.

It means that it was her own artistic choice to depict the vampire in that way.
Do you think she thought to herself "lets throw the guys that like guys a bone here" when she drew a corset on that vampire?
This thread is the most embarrassing rumor mill thread in years.

Still though he makes way more sense to play over Curse of Stalked Prey if you are running vampires
How long ago was that thread about the questionably attractive lady wearing the promo T shirt? This one hasnt eclipsed that yet.
