Argh... How does stuff like this get put out there? It says right in the reserved list documents why it was created, and what it consists of.
*EDIT* It used to say right on the reserved list that it was specifically created for collectors and that it consisted specifically of rare cards which had not been reprinted already. Apparently it doesn't anymore.*end edit*
The reserved list was to protect collectors. Cards placed on the reserved list were:
Rares which had not already been reprinted from sets released before a set point in time (roughly coinciding with Urza's block).
Uncommon cards do not appear on the reserved list, no matter how valuable, overpowered, or important to the story.
Cards that were reprinted already (such as those in Chronicles), do not appear in the reserved list.
Utterly crappy cards with no purpose whatsoever that are not overpowered, important, etc, do appear on the reserved list if they are rares from before 1998-ish. For example: Amulet of Quoz.
All cards are black bordered and tournament legal. This means that these cards are legal for use in any tournaments where the original printings are still legal. For some cards, it is their first time with a black border.
The "Shake" preview card is technically the first printing of that card in Black Border so this implies only one P3K card.
Out of curiosity, is there a reason that such terrible legends are on the reserve list in the first place? I'm talking about dudes like Ur-Drago. I was always under the impression that the reserve list was for overpowered cards and especially valuable cards.
The reserved list was created by taking all of the rare cards in M:tG that were not reprinted in core sets pre Prophecy block.
At least originally. Ultimately the content of the list ended up being based upon the quality of the card, as it was basically designed to protect the value of the collectible aspect of a collectible card game. So the desireable Memory Jar made the list, but the less powerful Karmic Guide did not.

Thanks for bringing this up. I had forgotten that after a certain point (looks to me like the split lies between Mirage and Tempest blocks) not every single rare was put on the reserved list.
Prior to that point, 100% of rares were put on the reserved list (assuming they weren't reprinted within a certain timeframe, basically the next core set after the original set came out).
I hate the reserved list. I've read already (thanks to you guys) about it, and I still hate it and find no real reason for it's existence nowadays. "Collectors" can go cry to their momma for all I care. First printings will always be "first" ... doesn't matter how many "reprints" come afterwards.
Anyway... I really have high hopes for Cromat =D and NO -horsemanship- at all... ¬¬
I'm personally of the opinion that it could be old One Eye getting the reprint. I don't want it to be the case, but think about it:
Out of all the legends of 3PK, having checked the list, the only 3 that in my eyes would be realistically sought after are: Lu Bu, Master-at-Arms, Sun Quan, Lord of Wu, and Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed. Everything else except possibly Dong Zhou, the Tyrant would seem disappointing if I got them in a booster today, let alone in a limited edition set.
Lu Bu has had a black border release when he was the promotional card for the set if I recall-feel free to correct me.
Compared to Teferi, Sun Quan, whilst flavourful, doesn't really fit into the colour pie with him being rather aggro due what amounts to "Every creature you control is unblockable."
This leaves old One Eye. Wizards have said repeatedly-FTV is our way of saying thank you to the shop owners. Would Wizards realistically give away a card that at current eBay pricing is £100? Sure, why not.
EDH, on the other hand, is more like a monster truck rally. It's more about the spectacle than the race, the games go long, and it's not usually clear who's in the lead until there's only one truck left.*
Single player EDH is like two guys smacking each other with pillows... until one of them pulls out a shotgun.
IMO the value of this set is going to be terrible, compared to the last two.
Legends are typically not constructed worthy. The other two atleast had amazing things like Sol Ring, Strip Mine, Aether Vial, Sensei's Divining Top, etc.
But perhaps they'll introduce a preview card, thats absolutely amazing. Also calling it now, Doran, the Siege Tower will be in this.
I don't see Emrakul, Bolas, any legendary creatures with wedge colors (includes doran), sliver legion, gerrard, Braids (the black one), any Dragon (especially not Kokusho), akroma, kamahl (either of them), any legend from SOM or ZEN blocks, any core set printed legends (any core set meaning tenth lol), or any promo-printed legend (Memnarch, Verdeloth and friends from Duel Decks, PDS, Planechase and Archenemy).
I see the obvious Teferi, the probable Clique, and the possible Zur, Jhoira, 3 P3K legends (not the One Eyed for price's sake), Progenitus, Sisay, Kiki-Jiki, Akroma (Fury), Azusa, Ink-Eyes, Konda, and our new legend from "Shake". I do not know what the three P3K legends could be, I really don't have much of a liking for them, except that blue one that gives all your creatures horsemanship, because that rocks, but still, I don't see that one or Ol' One-Eye in here.
Since it's only 15 creatures, do you think they will cut it 5 mono color, 5 Bi ally color and 5 Bi enemy color? Wedge colors are coming out in the Precons so I doubt they will place those in...
Stupid question: The set symbol on the site was gold. Does this mean that the cards in here will be just rares, like in Dragons, or is it mere coincidence and will they all be brought up to mythic rarity?
It looks like they corrected the image on their announcement page to show a mythic-coloured symbol now.

If you came here expecting a signature, you've just wasted your time.
In additon to wanting that one red legend from P3K that apparently nobody else thinks is cool enough.... I can't help but wonder if it's too late for me to hope that there is a Bant colored legend drawn by Rebecca Guay (she's still alive isn't she?). I can't help but look at the cards she has drawn with blue in them and think about how much they would help my Guay EDH deck. Hell, even a redrawn 5color legend by her would be cool and much appreciated. If I could add blue, it would not only improve the average card quality, but it would give me some game altering synergies (such as Enchanted Evening and either Aura Fracture or Calming Verse.
IMO the value of this set is going to be terrible, compared to the last two.

You kidding me?
Go check the value of foil legends that are played in Commander.
Go check the value of the probable Portal: 3 Kingdoms legend reprints. (The physician is 40, CaoCao, is 20)
The value is there.
Mangara of Corondor is a likely print in there. He sees play.
Either way, this isn't about constructed. All the value will come from demand from Commander players.
Doran isn't going to be in there. He got textless treatment, and is probably too recent. Not to mention the wedge decks for Commander coming out months earlier.

Doran seems unlikely in the Commander Precons. The Precons have only 3 Legendary creature that have all three wedge colors. 1 of them is the PC Dragon and the other 2 are brand new and exclusive to these precons.
IMO the value of this set is going to be terrible, compared to the last two.
I disagree. Just a glance at the gulf between prices of normal versions of legendary creatures and their foil versions is proof of what Commander players are willing to pay for premium cards. Especially gold legends. I don't even play Commander and I can tell which legends are the most played generals, based solely on the prices of their foils. The complete set might settle around Exiled's price, but I wouldn't count on the singles being too much cheaper than whatever is available in foil now.
Teferi, Captain Sisay, the secret preview card and at least one Portal legend are the only cards I have no doubt will be included. I would personally throw up the horns for Dakkon Blackblade or Korlash, but I could see Lin-Sivvi, Toshiro Umezawa, or Michiko Konda included.
Wow between the commander product and this it looks like this year is the year for wizards to blatantly market to the EDH market.
My guess is that due to legends usually having only a minimal impact on constructed we'll end up with 5-7 from constructed and the remaining being chase EDH generals.
Constructed played legends will likely include Iona, Shield of Emeria in my opinion because of it's strength as a reanimation target in eternal formats. Progenitus and/or Emrakul, the Aeons Torn also seem likely to represent the best cheat into play legends. Isamaru, Hound of Konda also seems a good shot as it has and does see some play in zoo/ww style decks.
Looks fun and always looking for new legends to put in my collection.
I not mind Kamahl, Fist of Krosa with some new art. Also be cool to see Jerith again for white with new art aswell. So many legends be nice see, but the ones to get new art are the ones I siked most for.
Bad example. All Ante cards are on the Reserved List, mostly because they are banned in every format.
The "Shake" preview card is technically the first printing of that card in Black Border so this implies only one P3K card.

A great site to get free stuff from. Use this search engine and you have a chance of gaining "swagbucks" every time you search which can be redeemed for all kinds of prizes. My personal favorite is amazon.com giftcards which I have accumulated $110 in.

There are 16 legends in P3K that don't have horsemanship. Could be any of those.
The reserved list was created by taking all of the rare cards in M:tG that were not reprinted in core sets pre Prophecy block.
Basically, if it's in 4th edition + or Prophecy/Nemesis/Masques +, it's fair game to reprint. So Vampiric Tutor and Rishadan Port are A-OK to reprint via the list, but Gaea's Cradle, Morphling, Thunder spirit, and Two Headed Giant of Foriys are not.
At least originally. Ultimately the content of the list ended up being based upon the quality of the card, as it was basically designed to protect the value of the collectible aspect of a collectible card game. So the desireable Memory Jar made the list, but the less powerful Karmic Guide did not.
Incorrect, sir. They are on the reserved list because they are rares from Urza's block or earlier.
Example: Bronze Tablet is an ante card which is not on the reserved list, because it had already been reprinted.
The reserved list is not a 100% complete list of cards they will never reprint, it is a publicly available list of cards they promise not to reprint.
*EDIT* Tempest Efreet for a second example of an ante card which is not on the reserved list.
I'd like to see Mistform Ultimus in the set too.
The reprint policy was reaffirmed after Phyrexia vs. Coalition. Sliver Queen will not be reprinted.

On building a Celestial Kirin Stax EDH:
I'm guessing the following cards will make appearances:
- Captain Sisay
- Dakkon Blackblade
- Ihsan's Shade
All three feel pretty iconic, to me.
I also suspect we'll see one or two newer cards, and I suspect one of them will be Omnath, Locus of Mana.
- Main Cube
- No Brains, All Feelings Cube
Legends are typically not constructed worthy. The other two atleast had amazing things like Sol Ring, Strip Mine, Aether Vial, Sensei's Divining Top, etc.
