Following "Hook" block (Hook, Line and Sinker, if I'm not mistaken), we have our (I believe) first mention of "Friends" block, which I take to imply Friends, Romans, Countrymen. Not at all useful for thinking ahead, but good to add to the future timetables.
We know the name of the whole Scars block, though not the order of the second two sets:
Scars of Mirrodin
Mirrodin Pure
New Phyrexia
That's likely the order just going by the names imo, but it's entirely possible it's SoM, NP, MP.
Well, the last few blocks have basically gone 1. Welcome to <plane>! 2. Something bad is happening 3. And the world will never be the same. Of course, Mirrodin Pure and New Phyrexia can still go either way with that plot structure - Phyrexia could be the second set, and try to ruin Mirrodin somehow, resulting in a purification. Or Mirrodin Pure could be the second set, and then Phyrexia takes over, turning Mirrodin into "New Phyrexia." But this is all pointless speculation.

Also mentioned another "five year plan" which is good. Glad to see we still got at least a half a decade about to be planned out for our favorite little game.:)

Romans? =D Did anyone say Romans? =D if there is anything I love besides magic, it is Roman history =D oh boy I already love that set lol even though it might have nothing to do with Romans.
Nice they finally made a reference to the Romans ^^ and not just anyone, Marcus Antonius =D (Or for the americans: Marc Anthony)
Not to mention more proof that WotC develops further out than the two years that they claimed around the era of Kamigawa/Ravnica. Maybe they're getting a bit more organized about always working on things five years in advance? Two years of creative design, three years of active development makes loads of sense.
This might have been an old rumor, but isn't Richard Garfield tied to one of the future blocks? This MaRo quote seems to hint at it: ""Friends" block is a little more open-ended but I know who the lead designer is and I have a rough idea what he wants to do."
Well if they're going with a 90's "Must See TV" theme, it would be more like Friends, Seinfeld, ER.

I know the codenames rarely have anything to do with the actual set, but if it is "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" a Roman-themed block would be neat.
Not "rarely"; codenames actively and purposely have nothing to do with the blocks they're assigned to, or even with Magic-related terminology in general, specifically to stop incredibly annoying "the next block is called Control block, will it be all control cards?!?!?!"-type ridiculousness.
We know the name of the whole Scars block, though not the order of the second two sets:
Scars of Mirrodin
Mirrodin Pure
New Phyrexia
This is assuming there's nothing to the "second set is both Mirrodin Pure and New Phyrexia" rumor. If that's true, we have another fitting, trademarked name -- Dark Ascension -- which would presumably be the final name of "Action."

Yeah. R&D have slowly but steadily been pushing out the degree to which they work forward in time over the whole history of Magic, and as best I can tell Rosewater and Forsythe have both actively attempted to push it out even further since they took their current jobs. Makes sense.
Fun fact: R&D has had these codenames on the back burner for at least five yearsin advance. Uncoincidentally, the total number of codenames planned out at that point in time (just as Saviors was releasing) corresponds exactly to MaRo's seven-year plan.

Seeing "Friends/Romans/Countrymen" in that first article is pretty much hook line and sinker (see what I did there? ). Thanks for finding that article NLNB!

It'd be even more brilliant if it's part of a six-set MEGABLOCK with the latter three sets codenamed "Veni, Vidi, Vici".
I agree.
However I think it's totally irrelevant to the block theme.

Hmm, maybe they're bringing back the old keyword bury (destroy, cannot regen.)
On a side-note, I still remember that speech from high school English. Pretty disturbing.

It's Friends/Romans/Countrymen. One of the rules for block codenaming is all codenames need to be G-rated.
