This card is going to push Jund to even higher levels of dominance because it solves literally all the deck's weak points. Against mono-red, it gains life. Against white weenie, it profitably turns your thrinax into tokens to block their pro black/red guys, or digs for removal. Once you have four mana open you can threaten your opponent with it precombat as well, even if it's not in hand. Pump your Putrid Leech, and dare him to try to and bolt it in response. If he doesn't, just play something else postcombat.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I love every single card in Jund individually, I hate Jund as a deck because it means that I hate standard atm because because of the prevalence of Jund. At least pre Zen standard didn't have one deck that made up 70% of the field. Admittedly it was a lot of 5CC, but there was Faeries, Blightning Beatdown (at least in my local meta), and a few others. I have come up against 2 Jund decks that didn't bore me, and my mate built both. One was a Bloodchief Jund deck & the other was a teched out Jund that he specifically designed to overcome the weaknesses of other jund decks.
Fae made up more of the field at major tournaments than jund does most times....

I like this card the most in response to some mass removal. Green decks will benefit the most, but Jund and other tier one decks with green will play this.
Thats just it, ALL situations around this card are Hypothetical because you cant just Cast it and directly get some benefit like Harmonize. Of course there are some amazing opportunities for this card to be huge, I never said that there weren't. But I believe there are just as many for it to be dead. Tempo has value over card advantage some times, especially in Agro. This card is not ALWAYS good and thus wont be played in heavy multiples or become format defining. Black can just kill all of your threats before you untap with them. Then it will sit there in hand and by the time you get something on the board, untap with mana open waiting to play it advantageously you could be in a position where a few cards and life and no board presence is a losing prospect. Keeping 4 mana open to reap a benefit from losing a threat is not really what green wants to be doing, not to mention if it gets countered, flash freeze ouch.
So would you agree that 3 of in a deck like mono green is a good number to have? Hypothetically, let's say the deck runs 8 mana chumps, 8 three drops, a handfull of 4 and 5 drops, that new green gifts, and this card. Does hypothetical gameplan sound like something that "green wants to be doing?"
Wrong. Jund makes up more of the format than Fae and 5cc did COMBINED.
Plus Fae was more fun to play/play against. Albeit it wasn't much fun to play against but certainly more so than Jund. Jund is basically why I've become uninterested in standard and taking a break, that and cheaters at my LGS. >.<
i think this card is Freakin' awesome just imagine zoo with this even on the draw u flex "Nutz" any mana drawing the extra card u can pitch and turning up the gas on tempo and it still taps for mana easily a 3 of most likely a 4 of
Looks like Green is getting all the fun. Not bad for me, because I like Green, and this card looks fun enough, but it is rather sad that Green has better Instant-speed draw than Blue does.
..Wow! I cannot express how amazing this card is. When I first looked at it I could not believe it was an instant to boot. Sure you are still vulnerable to removal the turn you cast your big creature. But after that...wow. AND life gain?! How this card wont become a T2 staple I have no idea.

This card is so nuts. WOW.
It sacs the creature so they can't respond by killing it with spot removal.
Wow.
Wowee-wow-wow-wow.
No discard thing like GG had either.
...
Maybe UG is viable? You could run Snapper and make it a 4/1 and sac it or something? ... Eh, I dunno. This is kind of an odd card, but it should be played somewhere.

Tired of green getting everything. Getting tired of magic now.
It's not like white got the best leveler so far and a rockin' planeswalker, or that blue got Chronologist and the CA sphinx, or red got the humongous dragonlord, or black got the assassin and a great rebound spell.
This card is pretty bonkers with Omnath. I was mucking around on MWS with a big dumb monogreen deck. Some very fun and devastating plays: draw 16, gain 16 life.
Tired of green getting everything. Getting tired of magic now.
I thought people complained about how green never got anything. Not nearly as much as the people who complain about how blue never gets anything, of course, but much more than the other three colors.
It's in the color with the fattest fatties and the best mana ramp.
It's not prohibitively expensive.
It sacs the creature as a cost, so it can't be fizzled out by removal.
If Harmonize was vanilla ice cream, Momentous Fall is a hot fudge sundae topped with nuts, peanutbutter cups, snipped marshmallows, whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.
Tired of green getting everything. Getting tired of magic now.
Green is prettymuch always the weakest or second weakest color each set. That has been changing a bit lately, along with white. White has been getting such good cards lately I think they're done pimping it, and now it seems like green gets a turn. Remember that solid fatties/ramp =/= getting everything. In fact, those two things are seldom constructed viable.
Black is probably on the bottom right now, with blue right above it, then green, red and white.
For a long time, it was always green/white, red, black, blue from weakest to strongest.
The pecking order changes constantly with newer magic sets, but come on green hasn't gotten a lot of love until recently.
Green has always had good cards. It just is always vulnerable to / and incapable of disruption. Black is actually very strong right now, Jund wouldn't be so hot without it.
I'm gonna go ahead and say this. Momentous Fall is EASILY among the top 10 green cards EVER printed. Up there with the likes of Tarmogoyf, Primal Command, Spiritmonger, and Maelstrom Pulse. Like...I cannot express the insanity of how amazing this card is. This card single-handedly solved my problem with my Naya Behemoths deck (Cliffrunner Behemoth, Spellbreaker Behemoth, Woolly Thoctar, Mycoid Shepherd, etc.)...And that is the VERY small amount of card-advantage in Naya. That's solved now! I'll play a turn3 Thoctar, turn 4 Mycoid Shepherd, & turn 5 Momentous Fall...I'll draw 5 and gain 9 life.
Nissa Revane, Garruk and this for a lot of CA and sweeper recovery.
The thing is, you don't even need to build around this card.
It's pretty much in vain to throw out green cards that this works well with because, well, it works with everything. This is the kind of spell you just throw into a green deck because it's so good, all you need to use it is creatures.
Black is supposed to kill things, so I don't have a problem with that. It has plenty of ways to kill things right now.
Have you taken a look at the size of creatures in standard lately? 2GG draw engine which feeds off the out-of-control size of creatures in standard. Yeah, great balance and great color pie.
It should have at the very least been "Destroy target green creature you control." Maybe even a Sorcery. Sacrifice is black, drawing cards is blue. Harmonize was a TIMESHIFTED card, color-shifted from blue.
This is the first mono-green instant in all 16+ years of magic which sacrifices a creature. This is the first mono-green instant in all 16+ years of magic which draws net cards.
Fae made up more of the field at major tournaments than jund does most times....

this looks like a really good and fun card.
i need to get me 4 of these!
Wrong. Jund makes up more of the format than Fae and 5cc did COMBINED.

No, that's not the case at all.
Good riddance?

I was going to amend my statement to say "tired of green and white getting everything" but I didn't bother since it was so painfully obvious.
Oh boy, another "HYPE CARD" for the junk binder!
Glad you brought this one up!
- 3UUU 6/6 flying terminate-target which has a slightly better Jayemdae Tome ability??
vs.
- 2GG Instant which can't be responded to with creature elim, to sac any fatty and draw ridiculous cards and additionally gain life?
Or, really more importantly,
Magosi Sphinx vs. Sphinx of Jwar Isle? Shroudplzkthx.
Another leveler, adequate at best, pales in comparison to Fall
Which would never see play if it wasn't a vampire...
