First of all, before I saw this card I was on the fence about preordering a box of ROE. Now I'm probably gonna get two! Seriously this is the most exciting card I've seen in ROE yet. Sure the Eldrazi Legends are orgasmically stupid, but this card is not only insane instant speed card draw, but it's incredibly affordable:o
There will be no end to sweet combos to pull with this card. First and foremost, I need to make a R/G deck with this and Sarkan (Shards) Vol, so I can steal creatures and then sac'em for cards and life.
Looks quite solid. It's a Soul's Majesty which costs you your creatures, but at the same time, gives you an extra bonus of life gain, which probably won't matter too much. Or so I think.
This card seems good ish but it suffers from that "best case scenario" sydrome.
YOU HAVE TO SAC A CREATURE, and one with at least 3 power to be worth it. Its not like a blue spell where you just get to draw. So its already a -2 for one. you are taking a TEMPO loss by playing this, where as if you had just cast vines for half the price on your leatherback you would be swinging for 8 and not have to cast a new summon sick dood again. Cascasde in its almighty broken nes is better than drawing cards because it also pays the Mana and plays a card for you. This card is a 2x MAX because it requires certain conditions to even be cast. Clunky draws with a couple of these would be aweful. ITs a nice spell and will see play in small numbers but its not "ZOMG best card in the set need playset asap".

Not a lot of people have said this, but do you really think this is going to be a four of in green decks? It seems like most green decks will play a few of these but in a green beatdown deck like eldrazi green, i can't see you playing four of these... White Green with Knight of R maybe 4 but even then I am not sure you would want to play four.
And the only decks that i remember playing four harmonize where red green ramp decks. They wouldn't want to play this new card cause they ramp into big creatures and draw to get the big creatures.

You are using the card wrong in this hypothetical situation. You want to use it as a trick when your guy is gonna already die, but thats not all. What sounds better, a 4/5 bland guy or 5 life and 4 cards? green has fatties, thats what it does. This card is one of those cards that tests skill, and you seem under the curve of knowledge

I come home from work and find some solid gems waiting in the spoiler! Just spectacular! Though, I wonder why I haven't read anything about this making the new hydra a better pick. Perhaps I missed it. I love the new wurm with this, but a free hydra T4/5 with 4+ mana open is looking a lot more menacing to me.
I'm feeling like this is playable in most formats. I like how it lacks the drawback of soul's majesty in that it requires the sac as a cost so that you can't get 2-0'd by casting (well, unless it gets countered ). Can't wait to throw one in monogreen EDH!

Of course there are some amazing opportunities for this card to be huge, I never said that there weren't. But I believe there are just as many for it to be dead. Tempo has value over card advantage some times, especially in Agro. This card is not ALWAYS good and thus wont be played in heavy multiples or become format defining. Black can just kill all of your threats before you untap with them. Then it will sit there in hand and by the time you get something on the board, untap with mana open waiting to play it advantageously you could be in a position where a few cards and life and no board presence is a losing prospect. Keeping 4 mana open to reap a benefit from losing a threat is not really what green wants to be doing, not to mention if it gets countered, flash freeze ouch.

Recent discussions here and elsewhere have made it clear that there seems to be a group of players who consider blue and control synonymous, as if they somehow started playing a game with four identical and "bad" colors that do nothing interesting because they just "turn men sideways" and then true, glorious blue, the only thinking person's color.

Ive probably been testing against to much Jund and Vamps with 4 Deathmark sided in. This could be interesting in the side board against control for sure. I do think people are over estimating having 4 extra mana to play this as a countermeasure. Fatties usually get a quick response, if they don't you are winning any ways, hence why I would value Vines higher.
t2 is so bad right now that you WANT TO over extend. cus after u overextend u play a BBE,ranger of eos, ruinblaster, or a planeswalker and chances are u win the game.
Im talking about monogreen here, so none of those colors match up...
If you are saying you need to race because people over extend with those, thats where the lifegain comes in and or those cards are meant to repair over extensions

Actually, I see this card as something to LET you overextend. You can overextend your heart out, and when they sweep, cast this in response, killing your biggest creature and refilling your hand.

even in the best scenario that arguable that this is better than other current blue draw. and you will hardly always use this in the best scenario.
