Summoning trap, mayael, e. piper, polymorph, maelstrom angel, green mana accleration to name the obvious ways. I mean cmon, people play sphinx of steel wind, and sometimes they even hardcast him. And this guy is much easier to cast given that he has no color requirements.
8cmc and 10cmc is a much bigger gap than we might like to believe.

Beauty of mine, sit before me. Let me peruse you and remember you... always like this.
8cmc and 10cmc is a much bigger gap than we might like to believe.
8 with the eye. I actually don't think that this card is that good without the use of other cards and I'm not even talking about putting him in play. It lacks the defensiveness that makes the other bombs in this cost range so dangerous and disruptive. Progenitus pro all. Iona stops a color. Spearbreaker indestructible makes all bombs indestructible. Darksteel indestructible. Empyrial archangel shroud. Inkwell shroud. Steel wind pro r/g. Though he does have potential. People would shat their pants when I used blood thorn taunter to give maelstrom angels haste. Imagine how they feel if you give this guy haste when he hits the board.

As it stands it looks like using tricks is the best way to get him into play even though you can't take benefit of his card drawing if you don't cast him.
Love the set symbol! But I was kinda surprised that this set has basic lands as well, even though it's a big one.
With the sub-blocks in the lorwyn sets did they do basic lands in both the big sets? I was thinking maybe this was going to be the start of the 2nd sub-block but I also think they would have announced this if that's what they were doing.
Omg will someone please eventually understand (outside of the people who do already get why eye is useless) that because eye is a land that cannot produce mana, it basically says:
T: add two colorless to your manapool. This mana may only be spent on eldrazi.
Thus, it only gives you one extra mana towards this guy, while putting you one mana behind the entire rest of the game. You can't even use it to play acceleration spells to get to him! Plus, you can only have one eye out, so its not like you can drop 4 and make him really inexpensive, and any extras become dead cards.
Unless efficient 2 or 3 drop eldrazi are printed that turn eye into more of an affinity engine, the card is still useless, even if it does make kozilek cost ONE less.
"Do Not Disturb. Why isn't it Don't Disturb? It's time to embrace the contraction. Do Not Disturb is too misleading. Do? Yes I can disturb this guy. Not? *****!"
Nothing to get all OMG about dude. I thought that the eye tapped for 1 colorless as well. It's cost is still 8. Ok, so you miss a mana producing land drop with the eye. But there are other ways to get mana than through land. I'm not even saying the eye is a good card. I'd rather trap this guy into play or trick him into play some other way than use 4 of a legendary land eating up more useful card slots.
Summoning trap works only against one color if you're "lucky".
Mayael requires 3 colors that everyone won't want to play.
Piper is way too fragile.
Polymorph is ok, I guess. Even if so much setup is a bit too much for me.
Maelstrom Archangel. Nut sure this is worth its cost.
Classic green ramp: why not, but 10 mana is a whole lot more than 8. I'm pretty sure your other answers to the problem are much better.
So we're left with a giant beater that needs unreliable means to be put on the game.
I agree they are better than the monogreen ramp. Maelstrom angel is my favorite way just because she's a good efficient creature. It's very easy to play in naya colors. It's also a ZOMG WTF card to play against people. Trace of abundance, birds, cobra, heirarch, knotvines. In naya I prefer knotvine mystic over the cobra because it's more reliable. So then you just need a u and a b. Ancient ziggeraut, trace and birds pick up the slack. Throw in a few off shard trilands and you are good. Rupture spire also works but I find it to be too slow. Or you could probably do the mana with most fetches and basics. I haven't tried it that way yet.
I think Kozilek has protection too. I mean being colorless but not an artifact is a great thing.
Iona can't do anything to these guys, protection from colors (like Steel Winds) are useless.
What I was saying is that other "gargantuan" sized creatures have more useful protections. Being pro g/r is better than being colorless. Being able to stop them from casting spells of a color is generally better than being colorless. Being indestructible is generally better than being colorless. Having shroud is generally better than being colorless. But sure being colorless does obviously bypass protection from colors. Progenitus still takes him like a champ though, unless of course he's one of only 4 permanents in play on their side

Why is summoning trap only good against mono color? That doesnt make any sense. If you are talking about Iona then pick the right color. Against Jund Pick black or red, against grixis, pick blue, against bant, pick green or white, Naya, same color choice *pretty much to stop baneslayer even though if you resolve this guy and they do not have a path it wont matter they wont have anything to block it one or two attacks* the only deck that summoning trap decks might have a problem with are U/W control decks because of the counter magic. Now i am not advocating playing four of this guy in the summoning trap deck that would be bad. I'm saying two MAYBE three at the most i have to play test it but if there is no counter magic and this guy hits board... First attack bye bye all your creatures *unless he's gota abunch of tokens or something*... second attack bye bye four lands... I win? Yup ok.
Thats just for type 2 as for legacy i hope someone breaks the metalworker card and does a turn 3 Kozeilek. turn one acient tomb, turn two land metalworker... turn three reveal four artifacts and pay two from ancient tomb and play kozielek. HAHA would make me laugh.

Since it was confirmed that the brood lineage (as "spawn" tokens) can be sacrificed for colorless, I'm guessing that there could be 2 or 3 drop Eldrazi that ETB out or produce spawn tokens.
There's probably some three card engine they planted in the set. Eye of Ugin could very well be part of it.

The paragraph from maro states that the smallest eldrazi is 7/7, unless you take some wacky interpretation (like the smallest of the rare eldrazi is 7/7). Either way, it looks unlikely that there will be any cheap eldrazi spells.

Well, I think that the 7/7 could be similar to Fusion Elemental, but unless there are some kind of lesser-Eldrazi that share the type or something, (or maybe a */*?) you're right. I had forgotten about that. I suppose it's possible that there could be a 2 or 3 drop similar to Talara's Battalion, or whatnot, but yeah, huge costs fit with epic creatures.
I still think that there's more than meets the Eye. $15 is crazy, but I don't think it will be as terrible as some are making it out.
morons, this dude can not be an effective EDH General. you could only use artifacts that had no color symbols in them, and if you see one (EDH) then you will have seen them all.
I'm sorry, but I do not understand what you are saying. Could you please coherently reword that?
He won't make a good general, but he'll be a house in any deck. I don't get the second part...
And people are putting up preorder prices already???
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
No hes better. Play him in deck and mill whimpers(as blue dies and fades completely) and dies. Hes doesnt have to be played to be useful but the sac 4 and draw 4 triggers are very good too and hes a 12/12.
Why? Because there is no other creature out there that allows you to draw 4 cards once it hits the board. And besides that, watching your opponent sacrifice 4 permanents every time it attacks is sweet, too. Whereas Progenitus is just a stupid kiddie card and Iona overpowered, Kozilek has definitely something that you might wanna call style!
It doesn't even have to hit the board to enable you to draw four cards.
This guy is way overyhyped... just like Hellkite Overlord when Shards of Alara spoilers were starting to trickle. The OMFG HE HAS BROKEN ABILITIES!! clause is overridden by the fact that he costs 10 to play, and even if you have some sort of card advantage engine in the form of tokens that say "Sacrifice: Add 1 to your mana pool." he will need an entire gameplan to curtail his casting process, which is weaksauce. More than likely he is the Broodstar to Arcbound Ravager, there are sure to be tons more playable cards in the set that won't need so much effort to play. I could be wrong, but given Magic history, he just seems like a glorified five dollar rare.

Meh... this card could be much more devastating. Darksteel Colossus is still better in my opinion, mostly because those four cards turn 9 (with Eye of Ugin) aren't going to be particularly game-breaking late-game. However, Eldrazi cards WILL see tournament play for a while, because when Alara cycles out, we're losing Path to Exile and Terminate, which means that people will probably be playing Journey to Nowhere just for this kind of creature. I think he'll have a place in the meta for a while, before we get to into Phraxia 2.0, (although how many kill spells can you see there being in a remake of Mirrodin?)
What excites me is the Annihilator mechanic. Clearly we're going to see it on other cards, and it will play heavily into the set. I just hope we see something with a lower CMC than 10 have the mechanic. (I'd be happy with a 6 CMC creature having it. I'd be ecstatic about a 4 CMC creature having it. The universe would probably break if they printed a 3 CMC creature with it. Though more than likely, we're just going to see more creatures like this hulk with it. )

Because we all know it's impossible to actually make new decks with this game, I mean, there are only enough cards to make like, 3 decks, and all of those decks are blue.
Isn't a whole lot more interesting to see people design entirely new strategies, brand new decks, make inroads into changing the meta, rather than seeing the same old decks over and over again?

I'm sorry, are you trying to imply that somehow all decks created are blue?
Furthermore, how would his logic on a mana cost somehow equate to blue=overpowered.... When in fact most Fatties that cost more than six mana are played IN blue decks.
I guess Rav-Tsp was too long ago :/
Anyways, the guy has a point it's mana cost is going to be a problem. I do however foresee him in a deck ran as a 1 of alongside Eye of Ugin.

I'm pretty sure this guy will see tornament play in standard. I doubt Wizards is going to create a set all about the Eldrazi named "Rise of The Eldrazi" but make them unplayable in their current standard enviroment. Seeing as there are currently 227 unconfirmed cards in the set I'm fairly certain they printed a way to make these guys playable.
