To these three I have one response: my FNM has never pulled lands from the draft. If they start doing so, I stop drafting. Simple as that. Are you kidding me? There are at least 20-30 commons and uncommons in ZEN that I'd gladly pick the full-art land over. What about that late pick where it's 3 jank commons not in your colors? Are you kidding me, gimme that full art land!
I know I am not alone in this, if the lands are not left in the packs I simply will not draft ZEN. B/C I can guarantee you my store will not put full-art lands in the "free lands" box.
Umm, to quote a movie title, "There will be Blood." This is another reason I'm glad my store doesn't do this stupid junk. Yeah, whine about rare-drafting all you want, the newbs rare draft and then the good players win three packs and get rares that way, and everyone has a good time.
Heh. Whoever you preordered from is doing a fist-pump right now. "Woohoo, I just made $60 for doing absolutely nothing!"
Umm, I'm bringing a toploader to my prerelease, and if I pull anything worth $100 or more, I'm calling a judge over, showing him what I got, and asking for special permission to take it out and lock it in my car. And if I don't get said permission, I'm dropping in order to do so.
Stunned and mildly horrified is what I'd use. Hoping I don't see some really ugly behavior if anyone at my prerel opens Power.
First of all, you can keep the land you pull.
Way to go overboard.
Secondly, unless your playing in a higher REL, lands go around the draft table, so please don't flip out.
These cards will either be replced, or drafted. Either way, the lands will stay in.
No, it's been proven that someone can open a pack, put an old card next to it, and then take a picture of it.
I still think it's BS. Wizards doesn't keep old copies of cards laying around for no reason. Which means they would have to pay for print runs in differently cut card stock (the sinkhole in the picture has rounded Beta edges) which isn't somehting they are going to bother doing.
Old cards are cool, but for a standard only player, id rather have the land lol. :/
Please tell me you are joking.....
Even as a standard player, you can surely appreciate ripping a beautiful NM Mox, Recall or other Vintage staple... If for some reason you dont want it, then Im sure you can sell it to feed your "Captain Crazy-Ass Mana *****" fund;)
Please, accept that Magic costs money to play, and drop it. A playset of Baneslayers>playset of duals. New Jace>Force of Will. Etc... Not to mention, Legacy is so wide open, that it's easy to build a deck that can perform reasonably well without very many "money staples" at all.
I want to be super excited about this, but I'm finding it very difficult. I run small drafts and FNM for the Gamer's Club at my school, with the help of a small local card store providing me with product. It's lovely that this stuff will be selling well through infinity due to the set's quality and these random inserts, but if there's some severe allocation problems (which the guys at the store already gave me the heads up about), that can only mean my events just plain stop at some point due to lack of product. I really hope it doesn't come down to that, is all.

Q: Will you be releasing a "Black Lotus" set in which every card in a 15-card booster is a Black Lotus?
A: Yes, we feel this is consistent with the direction that Magic: The Gathering is going.

If I open anything more valuable than a Candalabra I will probably take it to the shop owner and ask him to lock it in the glass case until the tourny is over. That way all the nerdlings can drool over it all day while it is secure short of someone robbing the store.
In your car? really? I am sure there are plenty of people out there willing to break into a car for $100+

I received this email as well, being a TO and Judge. I can forward it to someone trustworthy on this site if that is necessary, but for now, +1 to the email is real.
Now, a question...the store I am going to is holding a booster draft, in the draft, if I get one of these cards (crosses fingers, toes, etc) since it replaces the basic land in that pack, and is not considered part of the pack for tournament purposes, do I call a judge over, have him replace the card with a basic land, and pick from there? That's my understanding of it as I read these posts. Am I right, or am I wrong?
-Mike
If I was running it we'd be replacing your New found Treasure with a land card.

I do like the flavour. It's like digging for treasure. You usually get mud (lands n crappy rares) but once in a while, if you are lucky, you get a treasure. Lovely stuff from Wizards.
27 : 3x Power 9 (A, B, U)
29 : 3x Dual Land block minus Alpha Volcanic Island (A, B, U)
5 (so far) : Mox Diamond, Lion's Eye Diamond, Sinkhole, Lich, The Abyss . . .
61 cards, 29 or so more to go... I really appreciate that it's basically something old and grand, not just any old card from the Reserve List...heh in one pack you could get Electropotence and totally make up for it with any treasure that got slotted in
Wow...just wow... I'm praying for Captain Black's prediction of 1:20 boxes so at least I have a 10% chance of pulling something crazy... still, it's gonna be an insane weekend, wish I coulda made it to a PR.

By which you mean, Player X would keep his card, separate from his draft cards(in a lockbox?), get a land for the pack, and then make his pick as normal?
Somewhere, someone is going to open a pack with a Foil Lotus Cobra, regular Lotus Cobra and a Black Lotus, and have a heart-attack.
My poor local store, they only had originally ordered 12 boxes due to allocations from their distributor and lack of knowledge. Me being the third person coming in asking to pre order several boxes got them all hot and bothered on the phone with a distributor to score another 18 boxes. I managed to source 4 for myself from them and I hope to hell they hold to their promise with it, at the awesome awesome price of $89 a box. cheers! If the odds are 1 in 20 boxes, I probably won't see a thing but it'll sure be fun. And get me away from WoW for a few hours
The unfortunate bit of all this is that the set was broken before, so retailers had a lot of incentive to open boxes. That means that the majority of these cards will be opened by retailers, which makes the "You could open a mox!" bit a little less special. Basically, it is rewarding singles sellers.

I pray no one opens a beta Island as their treasure card in a pack...
However, most of the major game distributors are saying they should see a restock from WotC no later than October 21st-24th at the latest.
So, realistically 10-16 days should be the maximum that the channel is light on product.
