A spoiler thread is stickied with all the cards opened so far.
The cards range from Beta, to Unlimited, to Antiquities, and are not 'pack-fresh' condition. ALL CARDS ARE IN ENGLISH, but appear in packs of all languages. One of the Moxes was reported to be EX condition. These are NOT newly printed/opened cards.
-Tourney rules have been updated to clarify that cards opened in packs not belonging to that set aren't limited legal, and if deck swaps are done, you keep the cards not belonging to the set.
-The cards replace the basic land in the pack
- The distribution is random, and equates roughly to 1 in 20 boxes, or 1 in 720-750 boosters. 1 out of 120 sealed players will be staring at one of these cards at the prerelease. Some cards appear much more frequently than others, with the rarest card being black lotus.
-This doesn't break the reserve list because these are existing copies of the cards inserted into packs. It doesn't technically put more into circulation...just recirculates cards.
-The cards are ONLY LEGAL in the format they are legal in already. I'm guessing these are all eternal format cards.
-It appears that the qualifier for these cards is...they are old and awesome.

Q: I heard that there are vintage cards in Zendikar boosters - is it
correct?
A: Yes, certain authentic vintage cards have been inserted in some
booster packs for Zendikar.
Q: Are the vintage cards real? Or are they reprints?
A: These cards are actual original cards, not reprints.
Q: How many vintage cards are in the set?
As a general policy, we don't disclose collation for a given card set.
There are over 90 different vintage cards.
Q: Why did Wizards insert vintage cards in Zendikar boosters?
A: The cards fit the game play and theme of the Zendikar set which is
about 'deadly perils and priceless treasures'.
Q: Which vintage cards did you insert?
Consistent with the game play and theme of the set, we included some of
the most powerful cards in Magic's history.
Q: Can I play these vintage cards in a tournament?
A: These vintage cards retain their current status in the tournament
environment. They are allowed in certain organized play formats that can
be found on www.magicthegathering.com.
Q: Are vintage cards inserted in all Zendikar boosters? Including
reprints?
Vintage cards, like all cards in Magic, are not available in all packs.
We do not disclose collation information.
Q: Are vintage cards inserted in Magic Online Zendikar boosters?
No. No vintage cards are inserted in Magic Online Zendikar boosters.
To recap:
Yes, vintage cards are in boosters. Yes, they're originals, not
reprints.
No, you can't play in your limited Zendikar event with pre-Zendikar
cards.
No, we can't talk about which cards, how many have been inserted, or
where they came from.
Yes, the MTR already covers this somewhat new situation (foil Lightning
Bolts in Nemesis, anyone?).
If someone opens a "priceless treasure," they should keep it and enjoy.
The truck with the "deadly perils" boxes had a horrific accident, so the
only deadly perils this weekend are the traps across the table from you.

Clearly, the boxes of cards where Wizards keeps their entire backlog were getting overfilled. Creative way to save themselves some space, if you ask me.
This is such a clever and cool move on wizards part. I just hope people don't spazz out and buy 12 cases hoping to get a lotus. This is not the type of thing you expect to happen. Just enjoy the insanity and hope that you get a piece of the fun.
This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
Wow. I just couldn't believe it, but I mean wow. It almost feels abit like the time spiral rarity, but simply more rare. Im impressed frankly, partly because of the huge kahones this takes, and partly because this makes me crazy at having to figure out the math on the rarity and to what extent it fully goes to. wow, i am in awe
- and I guess it's time for a lot of people from the other thread to come out, hang their head in shame and apologize to the OP.
I wonder how this will affect Magic Online. On one hand, I guess a lot of these cards haven't been programmed into the card database yet (but that might be possible to overcome) - on the other hand, it would suck to not have some sort of equivalent in the online Zendikar.
(Speaking of which, does anyone know when the pre-release for Zendikar is on MTGO?)
-Tourney rules have been updated to clarify that cards opened in packs not belonging to that set aren't limited legal, and if deck swaps are done, you keep the cards not belonging to the set.
-The cards replace the basic land in the pack
-The cards are likely 'super rare', but we have no confirmation or approximation of the rarity.
-This doesn't break the reserve list because these are existing copies of the cards inserted into packs. It doesn't technically put more into circulation...just recirculates cards.
-It appears that the qualifier for these cards is...they are on the reserve list.

I hope they'll open some up on the prerelease I'm judging. Can't wait. But must see it with my own eyes to believe it.

It's unlikely enough for that to happen that I'd be happy with anything.
only in the format there legal. Would not be legal in Standard.
It will be interesting to see if any uncommons break the 2 dollar barrier with such saturation.
They are in Legacy and Vintage but they wont be in Standard etc. That said I'm still a bit skeptical that this isn't some sort of a hoax.
