Now that would be an excellent uncommon reprint. You have to ask though what artifacts or enchantments would you put into an Angel deck at uncommon & common that would merit the inclusion.
Hey some people would pay good money for a tentacle rape version of Liliana Vess... not saying I am one of them
I sure would! hahahaha
I think that The Reprinting of Demonic Tutor, will do a few things.
1) Keep the Old players Interested
2) Garauntee that the Duel Decks get more Hype, if they reprint classic cards with new art, then the decks will sell themselves.
Heres to a Twisted Demonic Tutor Alter! *Raises Beer Mug*
I know what is on the internet - I'm an avid hentai watcher.
But I don't think that anything more explicit would but at its place on an card game. This isn't something you give kids to play about, or that you take lightly. This is why I love this art: it's not lightly, it's just eery.
Oh, and I wouldn't object to have some more explicit alterations, as long as they're not things printed in mass by wotc.
we aren't suggesting that these things be printed in mass by WotC, we are suggesting that Yawg (one of the posters on this forum) is going to alter one of these new cards to be more explicit than it already is

Started playing since Invasion, stopped at Scourge. Returned briefly during BoK's introduction of ninjas. Finally back into magic during Shadowmoor/Eventide.
Currently Running Bant Control and a homebrew Blightning Echoes for Type 2.
Wizards is reprinting one of the best -and I'm not exaggerating- BEST black spells ever dreamt up, in an easily collectible box set, and all that's being discussed is giggles-a-second over how it kind of, sort of, almost looks like something is about to happen in that picture?
Honestly, this is childish. Ten years ago, five years ago, Demonic Tutor being reprinted would have players prostrate on their knees, tears of joy streaming from their clouded vision. This is proof positive that Wizards is willing to give its players good cards for a good price, and the row in back of the classroom can't get over the 'implied' rape, the only implication lying firmly in your heads.
I'm not challenging what you find sexually attractive. I'm not on a soapbox trying to cover the painting with a towel. All I'm saying is that Demonic Tutor being reprinted AT ALL is bigger news than who is carving what into who.

the thing about this, is that this is going to drive down the value of the original Demonic Tutor (and possibly raise the value of this one considerably given the godly art). Second off, its not like Wizards is reprinting this in a core set, or in a block environment, so in otherwords, the only formats this card is still going to be playable in despite the reprint, is of course going to be Vintage and Casual. So in short, I see no reason to be prostrate on my knees other than the godly art...
Even still, Starcity Games only sells Demonic Tutors for a minimum of 7.50, and I know of a site where I can find them for under 7.00 in near mint condition :3 the revised printing no less... The only thing this is going to be doing is dropping the value of the older versions of the card... and probably not by very much in the cases of the Alpha and Beta versions.

No, this won't do anything to the secondary market. The old art and old school border will always be collectible. It's iconic, and had the old art been printed... then yes, we might see some drop. Also, the fact you have to buy the set to get one hurts this theory. Swords was printed in a new school boarder in a Coldsnap theme deck. Didn't effect the price one bit.

true enough, still if this card art (read boxed set) is printed in any form of limited quantity, we could definitely see a rise in the price of the value of this printing of Demonic Tutor to say the least, probably not anything close to what an alpha demonic tutor or a beta demonic tutor is worth, but still it could be substantial.

The problem with this train of thought is that no one's arguing the price of Demonic Tutors or screaming SELL SELL SELL into their carphone. The price of Tutors (the ones that aren't promos) is irrelevant because no one plays them any longer. Putting an old, good card in a box set meant to reach the everyday gamer is the best way for Wizards to reintroduce cards like Demonic Tutor, because they aren't legal in formats that matter, so they aren't going to wreck your local FNM, but they're still going to reach a large audience.
The pricetag doesn't always dictate who gets reprinted, nor should it. I like seeing good cards reprinted, especially ones that everyone has a chance to collect. Whether or not the value of old versions goes down (which is rare for cards before 1997), has no bearing on the matter.
Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
O effing yes! Way to go Wizards! Demonic Tutor on a duel deck that is uber coolness! Set the thing up with either *** or Damnation and I'll save money just for a box of this!

I doubt your going to get both the tutor and *** AND Damnation all in the same boxed set...
anyways I am curious as to what the implications this reprinting has on the color pie would be...

Should this be taken as a sign that Liliana Vess might be in this set?
I'm sorry but doesn't anybody actually take the time to read the thread.
It's unlikely that she would be in the deck as all planeswalkers are possibly going to be mythic in all subsequent sets (at the very least the first five planeswalkers will be reprinted in M10 as mythics).
Of course it doesn't mean the duel decks will not have two mythics per deck. But its been confirmed that there is only two foil mythics, Akroma and Lord of the Pit.
So yeah read the thread so you don't repeat what was said a page ago.
I like people with nostalgia goggles who state their opinions as a fact.
Someone asked about other people's OPINION of the art. I gave my OPINION of the art. I never stated my OPINION as fact, despite your childish attempt to put words in my mouth. Work on that reading comprehension, I don't want to have this discussion with you again.

L1 MtG judge (L2 coming soon) and Dominion tournament coordinator serving Flint MI and its surrounding cities.
I have to admit, I'm pleasantly surprised to see the inclusion of the original, and still best, tutor of all time in this set. It is all but cinched that I will buy four of these now, as long as the rest of the decks aren't just loaded with chaff.
I didn't buy EvG, and only bought one JvC (and just for friends to play with), but I did buy 3 FTV: Dragons, so I will put my money where my mouth is if WotC delivers on their end. So far, so good.
I have to get me one of these...it won't affect demonic tutor prices although in trade the alternate art will probably be worth less that the original ones.
Here's to hoping for damnation to top it all off...

Oh, dear. I can already picture the tentacles.

Serra's Embrace? Serra's Blessing? Knighthood?... Holy Strength? Endless possibilities if they go that route, which I doubt though, since black can't do a thing about that.
My Sales Post!
So can I, and it looks GREAT!

indeed, it does say 2 foil mythics, however precedent would indicate that there are only 2 mythics total.
JvC had some nasty, nasty commons and uncommons. Flame tongue Kavu, Fireblast, Gush, Ancestral Vision, and Fact or Fiction. Black deck could feasibly have a Tombstalker round out their rare slot with white's counterpart being the Avenger. Here's to hoping, at least.
Someone asked about other people's OPINION of the art. I gave my OPINION of the art. I never stated my OPINION as fact, despite your childish attempt to put words in my mouth. Work on that reading comprehension, I don't want to have this discussion with you again.
