Well, did you expect a demon teaching you something without a little price? It does look good to me, even better and more fitting than the previous art (well, duh).
I expect a demon to each me a little something for the bargain price of 1B
The first art was iconic, the second art was fitting, the third is... meh.
no, personally i think that the art is very fitting. if it were some other girl then i would probably agree with you, but liliana vess being shown on it is epic. especially with whats happening. its probably one of her most defining moments.
at least, thats a view from someone that reads all the mtg literature.
if vess isnt in the duel deck, which she most likely isnt, maybe this means that wizards is going to take the use of the planeswalkers even further? i mean to say, WoTC staring to feature any planeswalker already printed on future card art. since technically they could be in any plane, at any time(see ajani goldmane/venjeant for time), casting a spell. but i wont digress since this is speculation and slightly off topic. heres hoping though!
You didn't notice sarkhan vol on banefire?

Probably just because they wanted to, really.
They are allowed to make decisions without needing a reason to do so.
Although, it is true, flavor is a good reason in itself.
The art is great, and I can't wait to alter a bunch of them.
well, thats kind of different, sarkhan vol is actually in alara living on jund. i didnt count that. i meant it would be cool if they actually started doing it for all planeswalkers regardless of home world. it seems like they already are, they prinited an ajani goldmane quote on silence
if this is for the new box set, angles vs demons or whatever....
why would it matter if it was uncommon or rare???
it's only going to be a one of in the deck, and the only place you can get it. you could justly say that anycard in any of these duel decks thats a one of (and there are many) would be rare, even though it's a decent common or uncommon in the real magic world.

1.) Anyone who thinks cancel is viable should be shot. in the face. with a hammer.
2.) You misunderstand, what I was suggesting was the total exclusion of Spellstutter Sprite, because it just isnt that good anymore.
3.) Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.

Good point, the only effect of its rarity will be its perceived value (which you can correct by mentioning this).

It does matter, because it's rarity outside this duel deck dictates how many copies are already available. Thus, commons, even if they have new art, will be cheaper than the uncommons and the rares, simply because they have seen more print in standard sets.

Well of course it will be more available since it was an uncommon, but its rarity in DvD will be irrelevant because there will only be one per deck whether it's uncommon or rare.

The rarity matters because of the other cards they'll print. For instance, if there's a total of 6 rares, whether this counts as a rare or not will determine how many other 'real' rares they'll reprint.
Anyway, Demonic Tutor is a classic, I'ld love to have a nonfoil, blackbordered, alternate art version of it, so I will buy 4 of this product, as I did with Jace vs Chandra. Here's hoping for some extra cool stuff like Diabolic Edict and Swords to Plowshares
Fantastic news, and I can't wait to get my hands on this! And yes it does matter if it's an uncommon or not because then we can hold out hope that they'll put Swords in here as well.
Nice! Akroma was one thing, a Demonic Tutor is another, but a Demonic Tutor with Liliana art. Now thats awesome. I may very well have to preorder one of these bad boys!
Why are some people talking about trying for a "playset" of these when it's restricted in the only format it's legal in? Do people really play with 4 of these in casual decks? That's just not right.
Well, that's certainly a nice toy. Of course, I'm not that surprised, especially with some of the power we've seen stuffed into previous decks. We've gotten Siege Gang, Wren's Run Vanquisher, Imperious Perfect, Goblin Warchief, Mogg Fanatic, Incinerate, Fireblast, Seal of Fire, Demonfire, Counterspell, Gush, Ancestral Vision, Akroma, and now this. It really should stay uncommon in the duel deck despite its power. Afterall, Fireblast would probably be rare today for limited's sake, but kept its rarity in the duel deck. I'd be shocked if there were 2 included like Fireblast, though.
As for Liliana being in the deck, the 2 foil mythics are Lord and Akroma, but each deck could get 2 mythics and 2 normal rares this time. Maybe they just wanted Liliana to be nonfoil since they're reprinting her this summer in M10.
Now, as for the casual decks with 4 Demonic Tutor, wtf? That's certainly not in my definition of casual. I run 1 for EDH and occasionally a couple in low powered casual decks that need some help, but whatever.

Peasant magic FTW! Though you'ld usually play no more than 2. Demonic Consultation is also legal in that format and a whole 1 cheaper

Why is it "not right" for a casual player to run a playset of the best tutor ever printed? Most casual players could care less about what's banned and what's not unless their playgroup decides so. In fact most casual players wouldn't even know where to look for a banned/restricted list.

^-- And this is exactly why these forums are for whiny little babies who can't deal with the fact that they are wrong. So they go cry to a mod. Lawl.
Because we get her back later this year in M10?

They have Edgar Allan Poe quotes on cards, too, but he isn't in magic.
I'd really like to see planeswalkers show up on other cards, as well.
It's cool to randomly see them.

Does anyone know it's rarity? Probably a rare, but used to be uncommon.

Erm... yeah... I'm not very comfortable with that image. I am excited about D-tutor tho.
