A friend of mine acquired one of the 'tip cards' from an opened Conflux box, and it was the planeswalker tip card. On the back was a small picture of the Nicol Bolas card, completely visible. I have a picture but as it was taken with my iphone, the resolution is completely terrible.
Anyway, if I remember correctly the only thing not spoiled so far was the ultimate, and ultimate it truly is.
Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker - 4UBBR
+3: Destroy target noncreature permanent.
-2: Gain control of target creature.
-9: Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker deals 7 damage to target player. That player discards seven cards, then sacrifices seven permanents.
5 (starting loyalty)
Planeswalker - Bolas
Enjoy! I'll try to find more cards from this box and post the juicy ones =). I'll also attempt to post the picture.
Pretty tough to cheat that casting cost. This is the type of card that makes me hope that they never print a "Destroy target Planeswalker" card in the future. Working so hard to get him out then pumping him twice before using his ultimate is hard. Nice work on this, WotC.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.

If this is true, then his ultimate is definitely more crippling than Cruel Ultimatum. I like.
And thank you for sparing us a stupid puzzle. for you

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
I thought about a puzzle, but I just got off of work and my brain hurts. =)
It came about because I was talking to a friend at work and he was telling us how he couldn't wait to put NB in his 5cc deck, to which I replied "we don't even know his ultimate yet". He tells me "yes we do, I have it in my car"....
and then he proved it. pictures forthcoming, I even have a video :P.
Well, that ultimate makes a lot of sense to be honest. Not sure how useful making them discard seven unless you are playing versus 5cc, but yeah, everything else is pretty crippling. I like it
And a starting loyalty of five plus pretty much a loyalty of of 8 if you want to protect him from burn, it is gonna be hard to burn him away.
I like it, but youd think it would be a little bit more powerful for his cost.
Chandra deals 10 damage to a player and each creature they control. Though its only creatures as far as permanents go, it has the potential to kill more than 7.
And by the time you get Bolas out, I doubt theyd waste time playing cards from their hand.

Ah, nice ultimate, and I see his Loyalty was close to my guess, and my friend got it spot on. With the high cmc he won't be in every deck, but he definitely fits my conception of a Mythic Rare. I approve.

Well thats awesome! I Like his final, I mean it's not insane or anything but still that is completely crippling and flavorful at the same time. cant wait to see the card scan

a small sentence for you to read while you ignore my post.
Well, that's even more deadly than most walkers' finishing blows. Many of the others are conditional, but this is nearly impossible to recover from outside of multiplayer or something. There, his ultimate is less than impressive and he's a better bet to just repeatedly nuke things.
Kinda underwhelming IMO. Id rather just cast cruel ultimatum so I can gain resources and still cripple my opponent, without the 1 extra mana, 3 turn wait, and giant red Target on my card.
The image is worse than the video, it's just a still-frame shot of the entire back of the tip card. It'll be up as soon as I can figure out how to get it off the stupid phone. (I've never had anything to spoil before, so my apologies on my lack of preparation heh)
But all it takes in casual is a Dark Ritual and a couple Tainted lands or duels and he's as easy to play as anything else ... the Grixis tri-land will help to get him out as well.
He's gonna be a hell of a card to build a deck around and annihilate friends with, and I'm glad to see his third ability is pure Nicol Bolas flavor, basically just riffing his old card, but upping the ante with the sacrifices. Especially since those sacrifices are permanents, and so he effectively can massacre other planeswalkers.
Me, personally?
I'm crafting a classic black discard deck with Megrims and Hymn to Tourachs and Spectres ... that should suit Bolas nicely. The splashes of blue and red should make for good maintenance as well. Maybe some card draw, counters or burn. Dimir in Ravnica was mostly about milling ... but I can think of a few solid discard cards there as well.
But really ... just thinking about the potential of Bolas and a Megrim makes me giddy.

I just opened a Planar Chaos booster and pulled an Extirpate and a Damnation in the same pack.
I wont belive this untill i see proof. It was on a tips and tricks in the first post, second his friend has a NB.
Also, the ability seems very lackluster compared to the other two. Its just like they put cruel ultimatum on him, got rid of the gain and increased your oponents loss. Feels like bad design to me

I heart Chandra, but Bolas is crazy good for his cost. Yes, the ultimate ability is comparable but not as good... look at the other two though! Destroy a non-creature perminant, or grab a creature forever. His + ability is much better than Nalaar's, his second is much better because it takes a creature for -2, whereas Chandra blows one up, but usually costs more than -2.
Yeah it's 8 mana, but that's really sick. I'll be hoping for one in my half box.

IMO, pumping it once and stealing creatures 4 times is more efficient and safer.
