its just an I win more card, if you have a 6cc white creature and a blue perm out you should already be winning if they cant remove it, and big creatures are easier and easir to remove and white blue have fewer and fewer ways to stop it (no cheap counterspells) making this a fun card, but not a tournament card.
Really? when was the last time you had a blue permanent and a 6cc white creature out and had no shot of losing? I cant remember ever having a good blue permanent out and a 6cc white creature.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck *********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like to to occur and validate you.
because creatures with CC 5+ are unplayable(hardcasted) if the do not met one of the following conditions:
haste
shroud or protection from some played removal
comes into play / leaves play(put into grave) trigger
flash
speeds up your clock (lords for example)
win next turn (combo creatures)
It would be impressive if you actually made this list and all the played 5cc creatures fell into at least one of them, but it seems like you just scrolled through gatherer to find all the played 5cc creatures and made a category for them. Not impressed.
P.S. The Sergeant speeds up your clock (because 4 power > 0 power) and it arguably wins the next turn. There goes your theory.

And thats why he's so good in this set. With white gaining all this removal and blue having a good amount of counterspells, this guy can easily win the game in the curremt standard.

Yeah but you also have to keep him alive ( which honestly is hard because the only removal that dont kill him are the ones that hit 3 toughness) and you also need a blue permanent .
Good thing is that hes splashable.
It's posts like this that I don't understand. People who think this guy is bad or won't see play I'm guessing haven't played UW control. (or better yet for this guy UWG control)
A 6cc creature is not bad for a control deck. If you are that worried about it getting killed then wait. Turn seven you can drop this with a blue open for archmage's ability. Even sooner if you are running any ramp. If you are running UWG then you can utilize gaddock teeg to stop wrath. He is NOT hard to keep alive if you are playing control.
The blue permanent issue isn't really that big of an argument against him either. Jace beleran, Mulldrifter, the new blue scepter, Rhox War Monk are all cards that could easily be built into a control deck. Which again, is not a problem keeping on the board.
This is another creature that reads, if you untap, you win. Just like Oona (another 6cc creature). Once you untap with him only targeted removal can kill it because you're playing blue control. A wrath or the like isn't going to resolve. Even if your opponent manages to take one out you still have another and then another the turn after. I've already designed a deck (UWG) using him as a finisher that I'll be testing out. He's just too good not to play.
I suppose I'll get a response from someone saying that double volcanic fallout (I think thats the name) will take them all out. It sure will. But what are the odds of that happening? Enough to not play him? Nope.
Lol.
Mate i like the card myself and will surely test him in the right deck.
I also dont like arguments like "this"-> dies to something = is bad.
Im just saying that the only removals he avoids are incinerate and agony wrap/inversion .
Still like you said you can protect him with counterspells .
And if you untap generally you win.
U/W control ftw :p.
Sorry, I wasn't actually calling you out specifically. Your post was just the most recent that I could use to illustrate my point.
Personally I hope the price reflects everyones skepticism when it first comes out. I'd love to be able to pick up 2-4 playsets of him. I think it'll be awesome to have actual cards as tokens each turn.
this guy was my mvp at the prerelease, it was 5 matches, and 3 of the 5 he was the way i won, even getting around a angel song one match, UWGR for the win, just add in some pump spells to keep the original alive for a turn
im pretty sure its a triggered ability

Wrong.
The Deus is huge part of All-In Red, and Platinum saw play in control decks.
does mirror's token can produce another token?
