Path to Exile must read ''remove target creature an opponent controls from the game'' or it's BUSTED. It's Crop Rotation that asks for a little token instead of a land. Attack with my 3/3, you block with your 3/3, dmg on the stack I rampant growth a land into play for W at instant speed? Not possible. This card is busted
I see your point. I think I was concentrating on you relying to much on this card as a mana fixer or removal. But I now realize since you can use it as late game removal or as a ramp in response to loosing a critter. Its versatile, i.e Cryptic Command, Bant Charm etc. Its not nice for QnT or any WX control but more aggro based decks, obviously!

Crop Rotation was broken because you could get any land. That is all. This is not broken at all. You lose a creature for a land, big whoop. Knight of the White Orchid is better, if you want to accelerate yourself.
Can someone explain why you would want to ramp your opponent? Path to Exile doesn't seem to good early game...
Considering most decks don't bother to run basic lands in standard...
StP isn't good because you can do it on the first turn. It is good because it costs one mana, and doesn't cost you tempo when you cast it.
No deck in their right mind would play condemn on the first creature and attack it sees...this will be no different.

I meant that you cant get ahead on land count, while Crop Rotation can't, so sacrificing a creature is sometimes a lot better (Crop Rotation was broken because of broken nonbasic lands, not because of its effect itself). This is Rampant Growth, in White, for a single mana, at instant speed. When a creature is trading with another, it's just that. No cost. You go land Isamaru or something, then when you bash and he blocks/burns it you path itself and accelerate into turn 3 Elspeth/Ranger of Eos. Knight of the White Orchid only accelerates your 5th mana in your 4th turn, and on the draw. This accelerates your 4th mana in your 3d turn, on the play and on the draw.
By request and in honor of Master Zesty here is a mock up of the godwalker Nicol. Note that we are still unsure of its bomb ability or his starting loyalty but as is he is STILL a nasty bugger. Happy Holidays folks
Leaving it's master loyalty and the SUPER CRAZY POWERFUL MONSTROUS GIGANTIC WONDERFUL MAGICAL abilities and I did say ABILITIE (S)
So a couple things. It either has:
a): more than the three normal planeswalker abilities or
b): Three planeswalker abilities plus something more, like uncounterability or flash
c): The third planeswalker ability does more than one thing, probably three things, like Cruel Ultimatum only worse.
I think that with the second highest number of votes being AGAINST revealing Nicol, more than likely not unless its encrypted into a Hawkings level brainriddle.
I mean, because as printed, Path to Exile is probably better than Swords to Plowshares in older formats (you know, where it actually sees play?). And I've always believed in the rule that "if it's better than StP, it's probably not real".
You realize that they are trading a creature for a land. You technically didn't even 1 for 1 with them. It might have even helped them. Playing this on a turn 1 Figure won't always be helpful to your gameplan. Also, your "Where it actually sees play?" line makes no sense, seeing as that it's only legal there. :\
In older formats, people play basics more than you think, actually. Fetching a basic protects you against Wasteland recursion, or prevents you from taking too much damage. Either way, this will not always be played over PtE, in fact, it will OFTEN not be played over it.
In standard, giving them a land drop in the first 3 turns could be VERY bad for you, especially if you are playing counterspells- giving them a one-up is nasty. If anything, WW-type decks will play this over Unmake, so they can continue their rush while dropping threats AND removing blockers, without worrying about what threats those are.
As for rarity, I'll be pissed if it's anything but Uncommon. There is absolutely no reason for them to up the rarity from StP, Condemn, etc... Hell, Oblivion Ring is absolutely insane, and they kept that to common. (would have been safe at uncommon)
I can't wait! This set looks more buyable than Alara so far, though I understand the good stuff always comes out first...
So, as a prize for those who are upset about not getting all of BOLAS I will give you SWORDS (STP), and one of the clues in the 2nd puzzle includes another new card that I'm very happy that white is getting........ even if it cost 1 more mana.
PUZZLE 2:
Here's some fun for you. There are 3 circles amongst puzzle 2. The highest number you get is the (Negative Loyalty) for the Super Ability. The lowest number you get is the (Negative Loyalty) and the middle number is the positive loyalty.
So what's all this then? no one seems to have taken a stab at guessing that card.
I'm pretty sure simple reading comprehension skills would tell you he isn't spoiling the rest of Bolas.
So we will give you the tools to figure out the Casting Cost, the Loyalty increments both positive and negative, and what the first and second abilities are....... Leaving it's master loyalty and the SUPER CRAZY POWERFUL MONSTROUS GIGANTIC WONDERFUL MAGICAL abilities and I did say ABILITIE (S) for Wizards.... since it's there big baby anyways.
Reading is tech.

I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
Path to Exile rocks the house, and I hope it's an uncommon because as a rare it would be stupidly expensive. Yeah. accelerating your opponent's land drops isn't what I would call ideal, but when you need to drop a big threat right now, it's a great go-to.
Nicol Bolas is shaping up to be better than I expected, and more expensive, but to me that makes perfect sense. It will be great when he is fully spoiled, but at this point his first two abilities are more than worth it.

The same reason why you would want to give your opponent life from Swords to Plowshares. You could care less about it because for ONE WHITE MANA you get rid of almost any creature and it's gone permanently.
And yes I really hope Path to Exile is an uncommon. Thoughtseize really should have been uncommon.

StP in an uncommon and has the same power level as PtE.
But white is the best mono color in standard it doesn't need more help. If anything its black that needs the most help from Conflux.
granted, white seems to be getting a good chunk of power from conflux. however, we've only seen maybe 17 and a half cards from the set as a whole. black might get some goodies just yet. for what those goodies may be, here's hoping zombies become a bit more viable considering zombies have to be a personal favorite tribe of mine.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.

I think zombie's will probably get more help in 11th edition assuming Shephard of Rot gets reprinted since current zombie's that cost 2 or less aren't really good aside from Tidehollow Sculler
