That's anti-synergistic, actually. The Moat counteracts most of the Muse's effect; if only one of their creatures can attack anyway, they'll easily be able to pay 2 per turn for it to do so.

Me so sorry, I guess I need sleep.
@Orb: I am kind of ho-hum/disgusted about the card in general. Simply put, they should of just had Ghostly Prison back in standard instead of printing that Muse and the whole cycle. That way Phyrexian Arena would of still been there and then they could of gave blue Dismiss (theoretically) . And red could have anything else but Lavaborn Muse. And I mean anything. It's strictly better then Hill Giant on the occasion your opponent has 2 or less cards but, a burn spell would of been better in my opinion. Green could of kept its muse, its fine.
I am expecting a card preview that can ignite discussion that people can get behind. I can dream can't I?
Every time I see a Muse now its going to remind me of what wasn't put in its place, what got removed, and how WoTC fails sometimes. Kind of offsetting. I am happy they put in a cycle to display a point to power of different colors but, still doesn't make it good for some players, including myself.

Careful tomorrow's preview could be mirri and then your dream would come true, by igniting several threads of whinning and complaining regarding greens use of vigilance and first strike lol.

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.
I do find the change in the text interesting, though:
Tenth: Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays 2 for each creature he or she controls that's attacking you.
Legions: Creatures can't attack you unless their controller pays 2 for each creature attacking you.
Was there a rules change that caused that change in card wording, or is it simply to clarify whose creatures the card's effect is counting?

I love this card. Now only if propaganda and ghostly prison were in xth (or possibily see reprint elsewhere) I could rebuild my Tax deck for T2- Muahahahhaha. "That's a terrible idea,"- says everyone who reads this post.
Aw, feels like they forced this cycle for little or no reason. Some of the parts are just horrible. Maybe this one will get play this time around, I dunno.
I loved the muses. The black one is a monster in zombie decks with life gain. Just take all the costing zombies and undead warchief/lord of the undead and you can overrun most decks. (just have a way to kill the muse ^_^;)
Well I've talked to people wanting to put lavaborn in the rack (I don't think it's a good idea, costs too much) The blue one may end up doing something in topdeck or as something to fill your graveyard. (but I don't see it happening) Windborn isn't as good as some of the other tax cards but with rule of law and teferi it can piss people off. Seedborn may see play if you use things that work with it. The graveborn is going to be great in most korlash decks. (I know it'll be great in mine..well burn will mess with me, but it always does.)
The green muse can be quite good. I could see it being used in some freakish semi-aggro control hybrid. Nothing quite like tapping out and having the guns ready.
Hmm... I wonder if there's any way to use this is some freakish combo, put down the pieces and go off in the next upkeep...
2-headed giant, most likely, since that's the only time there's concurrent combat phases.
Indeed! That's pretty funny, I've been playing this card for years (even in 2HG a few times) and that quirk of the original wording has never occurred to me...
So if I have Windborn Muse in play, and each of my opponents attack me with 5 creatures. The old wording forces each opponent to pay for each of the 10 creatures, rather than just their 5! Funny how you assume everyone knows how a card is meant to work, and don't actually re-read the card in different scenarios...

Not too excited about wind or dreamborn muses, but I love graveborn and lavaborn, even if they aren't tier 2 power level. Even with all the power cards coming back in this set, the ones that make me happiest are Lavaborn Muse and Cephalid Constable.

Dreamborn in the same format as Gaea's Blessing, and Tormod's Crypt/Trickbind for your opponents blessings could make a mill variant of an Owling mine deck more possible. We have Rule of Law to go with it. Just focus more on control than in your face draw and burn. Drop Red for White and add Wrath of God. Possible.
White is nice in theory, but it costs the same as Wrath and dies to it so really has no place in control. 4 mana is to much to swing for 2 in the air in Aggro. Prison is better in every way, and harder to kill. At four mana you want to reset their position, not make them pay for the alpha strike.
Green is always good, but why put the whole cycle in and then print Awakenning?
Red never impressed me.
Black is awesome, but the loss of Arena for it upsets me. I would rather they had given us Dark Confident. The black one denotes a definate Tribal push coming up. An extra mana to give Arena a body is not really worth it, though at least in a pinch now Black can remove their own Arena/Muse. Only advantage this has is how Multiple Muses work together or with other zombies.
LOL. wow, wasn't expecting anyone esle to play almost the exactly same casual deck as me. thats cool hay i know this is totally off topic, but have ya tried running windbown muse with with followed footstepps? If you can mke it happen it pretty much can lock the game, outside of ***. Also, supression field is awesome in tax.
This card isn't too shabby but it is not as good as Ghostly Prison thats for sure.
I'll have to agree that it's the same epidemic with the black muse- Paying 1 more for a easier to kill version of a better enchantment doesn't justify the body. *cough Voice of All is better cough*
I'm also a huge fan of the muses... Dreamborn might have had potential, but the same card that would make it really good is also such a silver bullet, that it would never make it competitively. Gaea's Blessing is the culprit. Although, I'm pretty sure that Yixlid Jailer technically kills it's library to graveyard ability.
Lavaborn is a great card for Rack decks. Easily splashable (I splash red into black most of the time anyways...), an alternate win route, and a 3/3 body to top it off is perfectly fine in my book. It looks like I will probably need to splash into red anyways so I can use Browbeats, now that WotC has completely nuked any acceleration for black. A 4cc Arena with a body is crap in anything but a Zombie deck. But we'll see how desperate I get for slow card advantage in black(which might be ok in an MBC variant).

Actually it's some good in a big table (5+ players) where everyone plays creatures and swings, because no one wants to pay 4+ mana per attacking creature when you can just attack someone else. Of course, it won't hold the fort forever, but you can meanwhile seize control or deploy your game-ending combo of choice.

Clarification for multiplayer probably.
U/W Control can easily play it then protect it from burn and most creature destruction under quite a few circumstances.
Feel free to bid on my cards here!
Still, combine Muse and Magus of the Tabernacle, and they won't have any mana left to do anything much with it

No, I also love Taxing decks. I happen to have a casual one with Magus of the Tabernacle + Grand Arbiter Augustin + Spelltithe Enforcer + Ghostly Prison + Rhystic Study. Card drawing, counters and spot removal.
