with smallpox you make this a garaunteed 3/4(creature(yours or thiers), land(yours or theirs), sorcery(smallpox), in addition to what each player discards.
So let's see,
turn 1: mana guy
turn two: this guy
turn three: smallpox, and something else(like discard or removal), swing for 3-6(depending on what each player discarded, and also an atifact creature sacced would up it by one).
That isn't even taking into account the Enchantment Creature -Type guys that are soon to be out.
So, you're saying you'd splash green in an otherwise monoblack or B/W deck just to play a guy that might be good under some circumstances? Jotun grunt is 4/4 all the time without any setup, and the discarding nature of such a deck keeps it alive for several turns and is a threat to graveyard based strategies at the same time. Why is this a better option? I see your point and the potential you're implying, but green offers less than white to a smallpox aggro deck.

I like the art... tribal is a type... which makes sense somewhat... to cover things like roles or jobs I guess... (I'm guessing this from the tribal rebel card)
and the absorb ability sounds something from DnD to gether with tribal it looks like they at least want make it more DnDish... or at least present it as a future possibility =P
what about tarmogoyf in a B/G deck with dredge, the 2 life cycler, and the sac a land cycler. those three + some random duress style sorceries, more creatures, maybe that BBB enchantment that makes zombies, smallpox. this guy could get pretty big pretty fast. add in random other good green or black guys.

I agree.
I think it is one of those 'uber-tells'...
I have recently been informed of some overheard murmurs that Lorwyn will be the first set with the Planeswalker card type.
This makes sense, considering the 'big rule broken' according to MaRo.
Printing Planeswalkers is a big rule broken, IMO.

... I'm thinking we will see no Planeswalkers in Future Sight... They just wanted to point out that they will make them in the future. What do you think?
At this point I'd have to agree. As more and more cards are spoiled, it seems like too much of a coincidence that none of them have been Plainswalkers and that only one has been a Tribal. Even if there were only one or two walkers, it just feels like we would have seen one by now. Who knows though, maybe there IS only one and we just haven't seen it yet.
I for one am done speculating. The pre-release is this coming weekend. Woot!
... I'm thinking we will see no Planeswalkers in Future Sight... They just wanted to point out that they will make them in the future. What do you think?
I actually agree here, this was huge when we first heard it, but as we crunch the numbers, it seems more and more unlikely that it's going to happen in [FS]
Sorry to dissapoint, but unless Planeswalkers are colourless/artifact cards, there's simply no room for them...
Yeah yeah, it could become a powerhouse if you build your deck around it and are very lucky. Like any card in fact, right ? Sure it's quite fun and well design. But it is going to be a 2/3 most of the times, except for some maniacal players (this is no insult :p)
You are wrong. I've already tested 30 games with it in Extended Threshold (10 each against AggroLoam, FlowRock, and Gifts-Tron). This will replace Werebear. It usually tops out at 5/6 because getting enchantments into the grave is hard.
But in my Extended testing, a turn 3 Tarmagoyf is a 3/4 88% of the time,a 4/5 41% of the time, and a 5/6 11% of the time. A turn 2 Tarmagoyf is a 2/3 100% of the time (21 out of 21) and a 3/4 43!!!% of the time.
My build runs Mental Note, Careful Study, and Serum Visions as cantrips, and also sports 4 Duress, 4 Ghastly Demise, and 8-10 Fetchlands. I usually contribute about three of the card types, and my opponent almost always adds atleast one more type by turn 3.
If that wasn't enough proof, let me show you logically:
Turn one fetchland, Duress a non-sorcery, turn two 3/4.
Turn one fetchland, Ghastly Demise an Isamaru, turn two 3/4 (gg Boros).
Turn one fetchland, Mental Note/Careful Study something, turn two 3/4.
Turn one fetchland, any spell, Mishra's Bauble (or any artifact). Turn two 3/4.
Turn one fetchland, they cast Cabal Therapy on me. Turn two 3/4.
Believe me, it never stays a 3/4. In more extreme builds with Mishra's Bauble, they are 5/6s EVERY GAME, whereas in builds without the artifacts, they hover around 4/5 for the entire game.
This will be just as good in Legacy (which means better than Werebear). They run as many fetchlands, and their spells are even cheaper than the Extended spells. Brainstorm, Serum Visions, Mental Note, Daze, FOW, Counterspell, STP, etc all but my Extended cards to shame. On the play, this stops a turn 1 Lackey. Werebear doesn't.
Also, it's very important to remember that this is MUCH more resistant to graveyard hate than Werebear. Suppose the opponent cracks a Tormod's Crypt on turn 4. The Werebear becomes a 1/1. Meanwhile, Tarmogoyf isn't even affected by Crypt because not only does the opponent's existing graveyard pump Tarmagoyf, but the Tormod's Crypt that was just sacced adds to it as well. It'll always be atleast a 2/3 right after Crypting. And unless both players have no hand and no graveyard, it will be back up to full size within a turn.
Your hand is one measly card: Brainstorm
Opponent's graveyard is one measly card: Goblin Lackey
Opponent cracks Crypt and you Brainstorm afterwards.
Tarmagoyf is already a 3/4.
I actually agree here, this was huge when we first heard it, but as we crunch the numbers, it seems more and more unlikely that it's going to happen in [FS]

I thought that too. Planeswalkers would most likely be multicolored legends with exorbitant casting costs, and the way I see it, those slots are covered already. If there is indeed a planeswalker type artifact, it is most likely an equipment that belonged to a planeswalker. That would be quite something.

Planeswalker card Type. Like the Tribal Enchantment.
I'm thinking of a few enchantments at uncommon for each color that highlights an ability of a Planeswalker associated with that color.
Or Each color + artifact gets a Planeswalker supertyped card. Like Legendary.
a Planeswalker sorcery for red, a Planeswalker enchantment for white, Planeswalker Instant for blue etc..
No actual planeswalkers just the word as a supertype.

Planeswalker and tribal, despite poor design, are not super types. They're "like artifacts, creatures, instants, sorceries, and enchantments). I suppose they could be instant-perminants (but, the name doesn' fit and Flash does this for us...), which leaves us with ?

i don't know hydro,
we still have 1 gold card to go, also our numbers coud be off somewhere by 1 in land or artifact planeswalker could be slotted as a subsection all its own
then again it could be an overcard like vangaurd

No, we have a scan of Tarmogoyf, and it's rules text says 'Tribal'. It was posted earlier in the thread.

Land -> Fetchland
Instant -> Brainstorm
Sorcery -> Serum Visions
Creature -> Something that died
This is not even counting the stuff that your opponent played. If you countered an artifact and an enchantment, this is a 6/7 for 2. HOT!

Lol. I may have them replace my Vinelasher Kudzus in my Loam deck because they are better topdecks and are much less vulnerable to burn.
