By now, I'm sure that everyone has seen the "fake?" shade card in the other thread. Whoever made that fake, though, sure as hell did his homework. After gatherer-ing for nentrup and seeing that he hasnt dont any cards, I googled his site and came up on these (attached) images that all have the (copyright) WotC on them... this seems like a clear indication that this is art for upcoming sets. I didnt know wether or not to post here or speculation, but it seemed a bit too concrete for speculation.

And these as well. I see some interesting stuff here, most notably the "blood shade," the avian, and the hunter. I don;t know what to say about the vaccuum OR the record player... artifacts?
But the shade, the 4-armed man, the exploding castle, and the underwater skate all look like possible CS artwork, while the rest seems to be TS artwork.
There's some nice art in there, however some of the pics do lack the typical amount of detail represented in Magic cards (for example, the bird man art, 1st set, 2nd pic).
well, check the other aven cards in magic's history: Aven Archer, Aven Cloudchaser, Aven Envoy (just gatherer aven) - they all have LOW detail backgrounds, with of all the detail on the creature itself. I think its a solid piece of art for a card. But some, like that lizard, do seem a bit meh.
Edit: Oh god, i just realized that the hunter (first pic, first set) has guns and grenades... i REALLY hope its not magic artwork, id hate to see me "tap my guy, and he shoots your guy in the face with his uzi" :'(

good job. you get a :cookie:.
yes, if you look in the news on his site's front page, he mentions that he did art for hetacomb, and it was added to his site.
Ah, and hodoku, the copyright info for the 2 says 2005. this is 2006, i doubt that those 2 arts are going to be in coldsnap, and if they were, i belive they would also say 2006.

not nessessarily. sometimes artists submit art that has been in thier portfolio for a while or under a differant form and they tweak it a little bit to better reflect the card's theme.
It looks like almost all of these are from WOTC's Hecatomb game, which explains the use of modern weaponry in the first one, as well as the vacuum cleaner and record player, which I distincly remember from cards
edit: what i guess could be good or bad news, whatever, i dunno.. anyway... the shade picture isnt on any hecatomb cards that he was the artist for...
so either he DID draw it and its not on a card yet.. or he didnt even draw it.. who knows :|

It's almost assuredly for another game.

I was doubtful of all of this being M:tG artwork, but there is no way that the aven is from another WotC game.
I guess this could be moved to speculation, but I'll see what Sed's and Rancored make of it first.
