The whole Hells-Caretaker art thing is really the most significant, it would be really hard to create a plasable image based off the one on the second booster. Especially when they could have just oriented it a different direction and used the art on the booster instead.

"Oh Merciful God, who shapes us all, please return these scarred souls to your unending womb"- Scar
I want these to be real but I can't see it being true.
1) The cards do look like they've been glued onto the black bordered cards.
2) The cards are NOT FOILED and yet they have a black border, which has never been done before. I don't know why people think they are foiled cards other than the fact they call them a 'premium' blend, which is a commonly used phrase and in this situation just says that their power level is increased from the last few core sets.

please read the entire thread we have been saying they are not real cards and that the whole thing was thrown together with shop. not attacking you but like i said in previous posts it has been said its more than possible for the cards to be cut-outs that doesnt make it fake and it doesnt make it real either
When we have card scans or posters, when they're not real they've always been proven false by one of a pretty limited number of methods:
1) Someone found where the art (or other parts of the poster) was taken from
2) Someone found a point-blank quote from Wizards that denied a possibility, from within the last six months
3) Someone found an inarguable error (wrong mana symbol, card number contradicted by other, proven card numbers, wrong signature on the picture, etc.)
Fake cards have never been disproved by esoteric analysis of the Photoshopping, because after a certain point people start applying tests that real cards and posters can't pass either.
In a situation like this, there's only one useful way to contribute if you think it's fake -- track down an external proof. That's clearly Terese Nielsen art, or that of someone with a similar style, on the Kird Ape. If the poster's fake, someone must've found it on the internet somewhere. Go find it yourself.
Similarly, the art on the Hell's Caretaker is real 9th Ed. art, but we haven't gotten a full usable image of it before. If it's out there, go find it. Prove that the full art is on the web somewhere, and your case improves immensely.
The fact that you can't do any of these things makes any argument of fakeness irrelevant -- there's no blatant problems with this poster (like the Reserved List issue with the Power 9) and there is a nearly inarguable advantage (the new art.) You need to attack this one advantage or all your arguments pale in comparison.
EDIT: I'm not saying I believe the poster 100% (I lean towards it but there are some potential issues). I'm saying that if you don't believe it, do the footwork to actually prove that it's fake instead of wasting your effort on piddly photoshop arguments that aren't ever useful in actually disproving fakes.
Not to chime in 10 pages into a thread i've not skimmed over yet, but I have reservations about this. My skepticism is not about the cards, but the assiciations within the advertisement.
I know that the Magic community centers around a late teen early twenty-something crowd. However, the game is still involves a great number of under-age players. Despite the humor of the ad, which I do find amusing, it would seem bad advertising to associate Magic with alcohol, even fine wine. I know that Unhinged made use of ass-humor, but keep in mind that despite exposure to the gritty humor of Unhinged, creating allusions to alcohol and drinking would seem like a poor choice of advertising. I know the Vintage name attached to the oldest of all formats is associated with wines, but the term vintage is an adjective describing age in many things, such as automobiles. It would suprise me if Hasbro, a company that provides entertainment to all ages, would permit such an ad campaign. Furthermore, with WotC's relentless and obsessive legal department, an advertisement drawing allusions between Magic and alcoholic beverages implying consumption is a characterization WotC and Hasbro wouldn't want.

Regardless of the authenticity and speaking from an older players perspective I can say that the marketing tactic does appeal to older older players. Myself being one of them I appreciate the gratis ploy of all things getting better with age. Wine, cards, players... We all get better as we age. Some don't but, most do.
Thanks for sharing this with us R_E.

dont get me wrong please if you feel it is fake that is your opinion and i am fine with it i can understand your point of view for the reference to alcohol as a bad marketing idea i was simply saying that the chops of the cards is not enough reason for them to be screamed fake when throughout the whole thread the quality has been admitted as terrible, so if i offended i apologize

I think the former ad campaign that insinuated that Serra Angel used to be 'jailbait' is just as bad.
Its not a big deal, the wine thing, IMO.

It seems real up until the circumstances surrounding the poster (it not being given out in original format) and the obvious mistake with the Hyppie's corner.

I just finished reading the thread(which took a while), and there is only one thing that stuck out to me. The wine advertisment style. To me, this style seemed odd at first, then I read the poster, and took in the "ambiance" of the idea. Like Tidwell stated(think it was him, was a few pages back), this is an appeal to the crowd of folks who have been playing this game since release, which even if they were 8 or 9 then, would be 20+ now. People who were 15+ then are closing on 30. All it takes is to put this in a magazine that young kids aren't likely to read, and you have an advertisement aimed at older players, and most of the issues about not being "kid friendly" are gone.
Sorry But I've only read the last 3 pages of this. (still, more than most)
Does anyone else think what we see of the Jesters car art is awesome! Hell's caretaker looks awesome too, and it seems as if they started giving a rats ass about what the core sets look like.
Now I know nothing about the step by step process of advertising but is there a chance that this a rough mockup of what the ad will look like (as in hippie would be fixed etc. All the little stuff) R_E said he was a link between WOTC and the magazines so he could just have been sent the ad to see if it could be used, or if that was the style and approach they wanted. Is this possible?
Thats just my thoughts. I like it and its R_E. How often does he give us misleading info. Think about that. I say real. :dance2:
Keep in mind if this is a magazine advert that if we had in each of our own hands in a smaller size, it would appear to look alot better. We're looking at scanned, enlarged photos which provides alot of the reasons for the discrepencies.
Arg, Xen, your posts are amazingly time consuming to try to quote. What's with the 15 different tags all through your text? :slant:
There is NO scanning going on here. The JPGs I posted are high quality screen captures of the original 3mb file.
Someone asked for the lower left logo, here it is. This is the choppiest piece of the image when zoomed.

I agree with whoever above about what they said about the artwork being spectacular. I'm definitely buying two boxes of 9th Edition
[edit]
R_E: Sorry I have 3 tags. If you can't quote me right I take full responsibility for it As for there being no scans, then I was mistaken. Either way, image quality doesn't mean much to me where this poster is concerned. There's way more about it that seems right than wrong.
