I'm too tired to go back and look, but, I thought that the person whom provided the random 8th cards was someone else, I don't recall him saying that they're the same person.

Actually I went back and looked and he didn't specify that it was the same guy, so I'm mistaken. I'm tired as well. Either way, the guy is a dealer, and I imagine that's a good reason to believe him as any, plus provided many reasons why the cards could (if not should) see print again. If he wasn't reliable, I doubt Gunslinger would come over here and bother posting this information.
Highly doubt personal tutor they dont just restrict cards then reprint. The reason they dont restrict in type 2 is because they are only around for so long. Im betting this would get banned after the first month of standard play. Too many cards would be abused with this. Does tooth and nail mean anything to anyone??
In a 1996 survey of musicians (on-line and in-person at Berklee College of Music in Boston) we asked this question:"Please describe the feeling you get (good or bad) from playing or listening to very loud music." Below are all the responses... 19/ M : Very good. Comments: I AM NOT DEAF! 44/M: Too vague a question. Loud "good" music would make me feel pumped. Loud "bad" music irritates me. Comments: This material and these questions made me give the "hearing thing" a bit of thought.
As everyone has said, Personal Tutor sucks in anything outside of Vintage, and will extremely suck in Standard and Extended. It won't see any more play than Merchant Scroll, which was put in 8th Edition as an uncommon, and it searched for instants. People generally don't want to search for blue sorceries.
I guess maybe thats true. But im sure sooner or later it will be abused in some weird way. Ya never know whos plottin.

Well, Personal Tutor can search for Mind's Desire..as far as 1.x goes, that is *definetely* something relevant.
Besides, P. Tutor searches for ANY Sorcery, Merchant Scroll only searches for Instants..there's a tremendous difference there, especially since Sorceries are generally much more powerful in effect than Instants.
(Please note that I said 'generally', I'll kick the first person whom says anything about Ancestral Recall).
I believe, as do most of us for the most part(I think), that you're not just making this up to try and dupe people..that's pretty out of flavor, especially since you'd just get flooded with hate mail on magictraders. You genuinely believe what you're telling us, which is cool. What everyone wants to ask, I think, is 'Why should we believe whomever it was that told you this'? I see that you're saying that he's told you stuff about FNM foils, but, that doesn't mean alot, particularly, it doesn't seem relevant to knowing what'll be in 9th. I"m not asking you to name the person, that'd be silly, but even a slight reason to to why that person is credible would be very nice. Of course, if your hands are tied, that's understandable..and we'll know in a couple of months either way.
Alright, here's what I've heard about 9th, all from extremely reliable sources. Not saying these are 100% guaranteed, but let's just say I'd bet on them.
Jester's Cap
all 10 painlands
Hypnotic Specter
Verdant Force
Personal Tutor
Jungle Lions
Possibilities:
Other Portal Tutors
Tradewind Rider
This isn't a hoax, or me trolling, or whatever; I just was kinda disappointed by the massive lack of 9th ed cards and thought I'dmention these.Feel free to doubt me, but when the set comes out, you may be surprised.
If you were paying attention(and Im no sayin this in a negative way) the guy doesnt want to make everyone believe that "ALL THE CARDS THAT HE MENTIONED" will be reprinted in 9th. I Bolded the parts that proves my statement. If any of the cards he mentioned gets reprinted, then whoop dee-dee he was right. If "some or all" didnt get reprinted, then oops his source messed up. Nuff said.

Hang on, I need my gibber-to-english dictionary. Ah yes, here it is,
Unlike many of these people, I have a GOOD reason why they wouldn't put 10 painlands in one set...
if ravinica is to be an invasion-esque color block... there will be dualies in that set. Duh. Do you really think that WotC is so unimaginative that they'd fill the core set with nonbasic dualies, so they'd have what?
Well, they put Urzatron in 8th, and Cloudposts in Mirrodin. Yay for little land, lotta mana. I'm sure they could make something for Ravnica if the painlands are in 9th, say, the oft-desired enemy fetchlands.
Also, land sells. I mean, explain sales of Onslaught otherwise :tongue2:
I would just like to say thank you Tha Gunslinga for giving us some information. Because you are a respected mod on a respected site, I truthly believe that you are not trying to fool us or anything. Thank you for the gaze of what is likely to come. And pay no attention to the flamers, their just jelious.
So I was wondering about the painlands. Specifically the names, "Llanowar Wastes", "Caves of Koilos", "Shivan Reef." Then I went back and looked at the other duals: "karplusan Forest" and "Adarkar Wastes". So clearly they're not averse to those sorts of names. ALSO, Llanowar Elves is going to be in 9th, so we know that Llanowar Wastes at least isn't a name they would consider deal breaking.
But the final thing is that everyone seems to think that Ravnica is the multi-coloured block, and WIZARDS CAN'T REPRINT THE CURRENT DUALS IN THAT FORMAT. Why not? Same reason they couldn't reprint them in Champions or Mirrodin. It's a totally different multiverse. I don't see Wizards wanting to add a second set of each dual land, when we've already got a bunch (though many of them are just worse), and all of them are still legal in extended. If Wizards wants painlands in standard, they'll have to be in 9th.
That's why I believe the painlands.
As for Verdent Force, sure, why not. They like printing Timmy cards, why not print the Holy Grial for Timmy? Hypnotic Specter would be good in limited, but not as good as a bunch of other cards that are in rare slots... Kumano, Meloku, Jitte, and White Myojin spring to mind immediately, and heck, Wrath of God in 888 is really good. (heck, there's multiple common answers which normally get played.) Someone else said an interesting thing about Maro whining about not liking to do things, then we find out they did... maybe he just doesn't like losing arguments?
As for the Portal stuff, forsythe DID suggest that some of them would get reprinted, and none of them seem ridiculously broken for standard, and arguably not even better than current 8th tutoring.
Jester's Cap seems least likely, but they've printed some wonky stuff out there, so whatever.
Benefit of the doubt goes for him. All of these seem reasonable, and he says he has a reliable source, so I'm looking forward to 9th.
^^^Oh yeah I completely forgot about that^^^. If the name of the card no longer corresponds with the current theme, then they cant reprint it no matter what but rather make a new one (case and point: Phyrexian Ghoul to Nantuko Husk) So yeah I guess putting all 10 pains in 9th completely makes sense. Besides, the Core Sets really a need a boost in sales and if the cards Gunslinga mentioned makes it, then hello Sold-Out Boxes :biggrin3:

No, I dont mean Core Sets, I meant Base Sets. Coz yeah the only way for some cards to ever see reprinting is through a Core Set since its like a salad bowl mixed with all kinds of fruits (aka cards). Wizards explained it one time that the reason they did the Ghoul to Husk is coz Onslaught doesnt take place or has a huge role in Phyrexia, but says just little tidbits about it. So printing cards from one plane to another just doesnt make sense. I shouldve reiterated that in the 1st place.

Hey slinga it's me templar, don't you think it's funny you are in this new forum and all these people don't know who you are? lol...oh well, thanks for the info, when it turns out to be right we can have a little laugh at the people who think you are a liar.
I just got a reply from Tha Gunslinga over on MOTL, and he says that's actually him, so you can trust his credibility. Although I suppose the credibility of his source can also be questioned.

Eh, I trust him. He runs a major online shop, and he's got inside info on this sort of thing.
The 8th ed prediction guy was someone random, and I can't find the post (not surprisingly, since it's from what, 2002?), but I do remember it. We all laughed at him.
Incidentally, if Verdant Force makes it, I'd hold out a fair chance for Natural Order, if Wizards wants to be really nice.
The reason I emphasized the whole "not 100% chance" thing was that I haven't seen these cards, therefore they might not exist. I'm not going to guarantee something that I haven't seen, but I do believe that they're going to be reprinted. I still can't remember who told me about Tradewind, so that one's still up in the air.
I will post this here as not to attract too much attention. lol
Jungle Lion will be in 9th. I thought you all would like to know. I got a tip from a friend at Wizards. I guess we will find out if he/she is pulling my leg or not. If not, he/she may become a reliable source for this kind of info.
Im pretty sure Gunslinga knows what he's talkin about coz alot of the people who post "NEW INFO" usually just starts the thread and never replies again. This guy's been replying on every page(I think) to justify what he said. Im still behind you man!!! :dance2:

If this is true, I would be so incredibly happy. Also, Hippie's power level could actually be balanced now (with nutty stuff like Witness running around), although they do say they're discouraging random discard. I hope this is real.
^^^Yeah what he said^^^. Since you put it on the top of your library, the opponent has so many ways to get rid of it (*coughs*millstone*coughs*) and DCI could just immediately ban/restrict the card if they want to.
They knew that in due time chrome mox was gonna get restricted and was too powerful but still, they made a new Mox. Why? because those type of cards are only broken in T1, not T2, so its ok for them to print one. Besides, its fun when Wizards break the rules once in a while, it adds fun and excitement to the table, Unless you want to play with cards that cost 8-10 mana :xd:

Note that he did say he heard it. I beleive he heard this, but as most rumors go, it could be false. I don't forsee a problem with any cards, and i'd be happy if they started "smartenizing" (TM) The Core Sets so that Spikes arent stuck with a 7th set in Type two that consists of about 10 playable cards.
