Riana: Well, I have people who do think they are sound, as well. Even if you think my arguments are not sound, there is no reason to mock me for making them, as Plastik has repeatedly done in this thread.
I can wait, though, until verification of my source is made. People apparently think I'm making all of this up. I could spam the entire conversation into the thread, but I don't think people would appreciate it.
As far as 'not terribly sound' goes, I would not agree, though I would say they are not an iron-clad refutation. I didn't realize, though, that you had to post a conclusive argument to avoid getting mocked in this forum.
Erm. Its not that your arguments aren't sound, as they do raise issues, but your arguments come from an previous art director's opinion. Opinion that highlights issues of art and design. These issues raised are trivial. There is no one template for a promotional poster/ad/etc as there is, for example, card borders. This is why this thread is huge, everyone is trying to figure out whats wrong with it and there isn't anything, other than the poster itself being a fake print.
It matched up just fine for me...dunno what to tell you.
Dark2K: There is no legal text. Rianalanananalanalann's point was that there's plenty of room for legal text, if they wanted to put it there(Which is debatable).
Not to mention the different colored pixels... which very well could be legal text.

Does anyone besides me find it odd that out of 1000+ posts, the original poster has spoken up only once...? Not only that, but that was his only post on MTG Salvation...odd.
No, I'm talking about directly below the black mana symbol where the supposed "legal text" could be? It really looks like this 'shopper did't move the skull down far enough when he cut it from elsewhere and pasted it on the poster
In case you didn't know... mana symbols don't have to be copy/pasted from anywhere. They're text, made with a font that's all over the place. When was the last time positioning and setting text was a "challenge"? 1993?

Hey all... I'm retired, not dead. Check out what I'm doing these days (and beg me to come back if you want):
Does anyone besides me find it odd that out of 1000+ posts, the original poster has spoken up only once...? Not only that, but that was his only post on MTG Salvation...odd.
Well a couple of people pointed out somewhere on these pages of posts that if the topic starter posted some more and if proven that the poster was stolen, then he/she will be in some serious trouble. A couple already told stories of people who released huge spoilers back in the day and got punished for it.

That means one of two things:
One, this person really DID steal said poster (as speculated earlier in this thread) and is being smart by lying low
OR
Two, is a crazy awesome 'shopper and I love them for getting us riled up and also hate them for being a complete BASTERD for picking on all of us with this craziness

I knew this, I am simply saying how funny it would be for such an excellent 'shopper to make such a silly mistake I guess...
Just for the record, for all of the people who are like '1000 posts on one thread is alot'...it's an unheard of amount for a single day, for sure, but that that grand as a total. Back when Scourge first came out, and 7th ed. was still legal, the 'Tight Sight' thread on mtgnews.com literally had 5500 or so posts.
Anyway..Saka: I don't see any pixelation underneath said skull, but, that could just be me.
Thing is, wouldn't this person know to go through R_E with this? Posting it themselves sounds extremely risky for someone who got this illegally, wouldn't you think?
I guess it's a newbie mistake, but you'd think they'd be smarter than that.
I do see some things on the cards that need to be scrutinized by the community, I hope everyone can help.
Specifically I want to point out the flavor text.
Begining with Duress:
The picture is from Urza's saga but the text is from the 7th edition picture.
"Change your mind or I'll change it for you"
Imperial seal:
the flavor text is the same but the font size is different. the original flavor text took up ALL of two lines, the reprint carries over into the third line with the last word "yours." for reference the flavor text is:
“If Heaven has placed it in your hands, it means that the throne is destined to be yours.”
Rancor:
text is clearly the same as the original with no alterations.
"hatred outlives the hatefull."
Cataclysm:
Here is where I start to wonder. The text is completely different than the original. And whats more, the artist's name is not Jim Nelson which corresponds with the new art.
Mox diamond:
no text, but I think the artists name is worth looking at. If could very well be Dan Frazier, but what bothers me is I cannot make out wheither there is a date under the name. If there isn't I can't help but think this is a fake.
Winds of Change:
Like cataclysm the text is completely new. It seams that all the new art has new flavor text to go with it. Can anyone confirm this as a common patern in 8th?
Tradewind Rider:
At fist I thought that the card had completly different flavor text, but then I realized what was going on. There is no flavor text. The first part is all about flying and includes reminder text, See the --> ). And the second part is the ability. But here is the thing, the text is the oracle text and not the original text. The telltale is the word "untapped" which can be seen in the first line. hmm...thoughts anyone?
and finally brainstorm:
the flavor text is the same as the MM one, but the citation is located to the left instead of the right. That follows the paturn on 8th edition.
Add that up, and I don't know what you get, but maybe it sheds some light on the subject.
It's not a mistake, R_e constantly ENCOURAGES people to post their own information, and NOT leave the burden of it on him..especially right now, with everything else that is going on in his life.
Not to sound like a pessemist or anything but the longer this thread is up without any action from Wizards about the pictures makes me think this is fake. When we got the test print sheet of Champions Wizards acted pretty quickly to take it down.
Also I know for a fact that they know about it because a dealer friend of mine called them and asked about it because he said he would feel bad selling Imperial Seals for the curent asking price if they are going to be reprinted in 5 months. They said they haven't released anything like it. Also its been about 5 hours since then... You would think that if it was real it would already be down.
I REALLY want this to be real but the more time that passes by is making me think its fake.
I expect the person to come back tomorrow morning if it is true. If that person created an account just to display one post, I'm sure they wouldn't have gone through the trouble of creating a profile. Anyway, in about 8 hours we'll reach the 24 hour mark. :smile3:

If this thread isnt locked till tomorrow morning, then I want to hear R_E's thoughts on this. Yeah he did posts a couple of stuff in this thread, but I wanna hear what he'll say 1000+ posts later.

Well. A lot of times they didn't act as quickly, i remember opressive will up for a week or more at least and then it suddenly disappeared (i assume that wizards was the case). On the other hand consider wizards taking this down, affirming its truth. Kiss saviours sales goodbye? I would think so.
Mm. I think that with something this sensitive, you'd filter it through someone. Of course, the poster could be a filter, but knowing how such things work, it's quite likely the poster is getting hammered for the contacts.
Since I have little background in such things, it seems clear enough that the legal text (in white, going up the upper-left side of the poster) shows up well enough on a black background. Is it a resolution issue that we see nothing approaching text this clear on the poster in question?
The inquest/fake poster theory has been documented starting with belgareth about 40 pages back. Thats' always a possibility, no worse/better than any other assumptions.
Well, one things for sure, if it is a fake whoever made it is laughing the **** out themself right now that their one post generated more than 1000 in the first day. I know I would be. :tongue2:
I think WotC will try to keep this at a rumor for as long as possible, just so that Saviors sales do not plummet... it seems that everyone would save their money, and the sales of 9th would skyrocket as compared to saviors... this may make the company's finances kind of awkward for a while if sales jumped up and down like this(possibly hindering development for a few weeks)... then again, it might not... it's all just skepticism...
