So with the new embalm mechanic, it got me speculating about how card names are linked to their other respective characteristics. Can you create a token that has THE NAME of a printed card but with different abilities, colors, card types etc. that belong to the printed version of that named card?
Well, tokens can share the same name while their other characteristics are different. Dragon Fodder makes vanilla 1/1 goblins, Chancellor of the Forge makes 1/1 goblins with haste, and Rakdos Guildmage makes 2/1 goblins with haste. All of those tokens have the same name.
Tokens sharing a name with actual cards is where it gets tricky. Obviously, two cards can't share a name while having different printed characteristics for the purposes of organization and sanity, but tokens only existing on the battlefield (or spells on the stack) have fewer problems. You can have two of the same X spell on the stack with different values chosen for X, and you can have two Sakashima the Impostor (and a Mirror Gallery) who have copied different creatures.
The thing about attaching names to nonlegendary tokens is that the name has to make some sense, and the opportunities to make a named tokens with different characteristics from a card of the same name that make sense are hard to find. Take your example, which doesn't make any sense (undying doesn't work on tokens at all) outside of referencing a tired meme. Embalm makes sense in context, and the fact that the tokens have the same name as the creature that creates them helps immensely.
