Quick question, if a creature with the unleash ability is played without unleash, can it still block if it has +1/+1 counters from other sources? My guess is it can, but I would like someone to confirm this for me.
Right but they would have worded it differently. It can't block if it has a +1/+1 from any source. Your opponent could potentially choose to but a +1/+1 counter on your Unleash creature to keep you from having it as a blocker.
Yes. And the aforementioned text specifically says 'It can't block if it has a +1/+1 counter on it.' One of the main criticisms of the mechanic is that you can for example use the Scavenge ability of something like Slitherhead to force an opponent's unleash creature to not block. Yet another reason why the mechanic is pretty awful.

Meh, I though Unleash was a little mediocre, but now I know it's very unlikely I play Rakdos in the pre-release

If Sligh is blocking, Sligh is losing anyways.
Rakdos uses removal for attackers so it goes back to agressing.
The "cannot block as long as it has a +1/+1 counter" clause counts any +1/+1 counter. If it didn't, it would use the phrasing "cannot block as long as it has this +1/+1 counter." The way it is worded clearly states that as long as there is A +1/+1 counter on the creature, it cannot block.

Jace bounce was a -1. He could do it 3 times before he would die. Liliana can only do it once before having to do her +1. Overall very disappointed with her unless we get Madness.
Crap, you're right, she's not as good as one of the single most overpowered cards ever printed. Unplayable!
