Does Torgaar's cost mean that I can (sort of) infinitely loop making and sacrificing angels made from the spirits from the bishop through divine visitation or am I entirely off base? Just wondering, since I have an argument with a friend over whether there'll be technically a no (aside from the actual CMC) cost sacrifice outlet in standard in some situations. Any alternative combos using Bishop of Wings are also welcome, as aside from that It'll be neat for spirit tribal.
If you mean to get a loop while casting Torgaar, no.
You sacrifice the angels as part of the cost and the token-making effect of the bishop only triggers when Torgaar is placed on the stack after you finished to pay the cost for the spell and the alternative or additional costs connected.
If you want to loop the angels you need a free sacrifical outlet (in standard there are none currently). In other formats altar of dementia (for milling your opponent) or Ashnod's Altar/Phyrexian Altar to get infinite mana could be some choices, as well as Viscera Seer to scry your entire library 1 card at a time.
As for the bishop alone, it almost triggers resplendent angel, you just need an extra life. Not a combo, but a nice synergy. Arcane Adaptation is a cheaper way to turn your spirit tokens into angels (1/1 flying spirit angels), but will leave standard in 3 months.
EDIT: thinking about it, there is a way in standard to have a loop for this, but it is so far fetched and christmas-landy that if actally manage to make it work you deserve a prize. Bishop of Wings + Divine Visitation + Arcane Adaptation (choose Goblin) + Skirk Prospector to sacrifice your angel goblin tokens and get R for each one.
There's an easier infinite loop with just arcane adaptation naming angel, bishop of wings, and kykar, wind's fury. You can just keep sacrificing spirit tokens and generate arbitrarily large amounts of mana and life, though the process for doing this on arena is kinda finicky and iirc the one time I played against it my opponent had to stop doing it bc of the timer at around 200 life per turn.
Whoops, finally read the date on this post. Well... heyyyy
