So I was surprised to find there weren't a lot of threads on Admiral Beckett Brass for Pirate Tribal in Commander. Sure, we don't have a lot of options for the deck as it stands, but the full set has not been released yet, and we still have another set of Pirates following this one.
My question is how would you build Pirate Tribal? Admiral Beckett Brass is all about stealing your opponent's stuff, but in order to do so you need to get in damage from at least three pirates on an opponent. This poses some interesting questions as to how the deck should be built, and I'm curious to see what ideas people have.
Personally, I want to play an evasive, Pirate Tribal deck with lots of looting and card draw, lots of theft spells, and some recursion to ensure I can always have pirates to go in with.
How would you build Pirate Tribal? What cards stand out as super powerful or thematic to the deck? Are their any neat combos within the colors that fit with Pirates?
Ixalan looks to improve things a little bit, but you're really going to need the entire set spoiled to see what you've got to work with. And really, you probably want Rivals of Ixalan as well to flesh things out, or you're going to have a massively underpowered tribe.

Yes I agree. I think when both sets are released I should have a decent foothold for pirates. I really hope Rivals of Ixalan brings some more pirates with evasion or some recursion / bounce effects to make them more resilient. Hard-to-Kill pirates gives them more resilience and reach in things like multiplayer and commander, and also fits thematically with the whole "Ghost Ship & Crew" theme. Maybe there's some undead pirates we have yet to see?
I definitely like a lot of these ideas. I guess my only complaint is that I don't want to run a lot of cards that make everything Pirates... I just want MORE pirates. Lol so I'll have to wait. But I definitely have Arcane Adaptation in my list because I plan to run a lot of Pirate-Esque cards like Deadeye Navigator and Gonti, Lord of Luxury.
The latest spoilers have a couple of awesome new pirates to go with Madam Admiral. Beckett Brass triggers if three Pirates have dealt damage to a player... it doesn't matter *how* they dealt damage to the player. Oh, hi there, Lightning-Rig Crew.
And then there's Captivating Crew. Treason on a stick? Hmm, not too bad. I could maybe slot that in somewhere. Like every red deck I own.
D'oh, you're right. Don't know how I missed that. I swear I looked at it carefully to check that very thing... somehow my eye just skated over "combat" like it wasn't there.
Deadeye Navigator+Panharmonicon+Wily Goblin+Purphoros, God of the Forge: With this one, you can use the Navigator to flicker the Goblin. Panharmonicon will allow you to produce two Treasures instead of one, which you can then sacrifice to make just enough mana to bounce the Goblin again. Rinse and repeat with Purphoros out and you'll kill the whole table. Not to mention, this isn't that hard to achieve and it doesn't rely on the Drake or Palinchron to get the job done.
what do people think about using brass as more of a mind control/treason shell using arcane adaptation? My thought was have a few key pirates, like Kari Zev, Fathom Fleet Captain, daring saboteur, siren stormtamer, and maybe a couple uncommons, in particular marauding looter seems decent, but then using things like Captivating Crew and Mind Control effects )i.e. control magic, lay claim, welcome to the fold, etc.) and maybe some counterspells, cyclonic rift ahd card draw, make it more of a control shell I guess? Just a thought anyway. 3-colors gives you access to a nice amount of tutors to find arcane adaptation, and then everything you steal is a pirate.

Xenograft, Conspiracy, Mistform Wakecaster and Arcane Adaptation will be useful to make more pirates.

These will gives us the ability to get more out of our pirates.
Also some combos, just because:
Deadeye Navigator+Peregrine Drake/Palinchron+Wily Goblin+Revel In Riches: To produce infinite mana and an infinite # of Treasure artifacts. In less someone wipes the board, you'll win come your next upkeep. A bit of a stretch but not utterly impossible.
Deadeye Navigator+Panharmonicon+Wily Goblin+Purphoros, God of the Forge: With this one, you can use the Navigator to flicker the Goblin.
