Yeah . . . Not much introduction.
Please share your HOU cards youre most intetested in,maybe some reasoning & what you expect/desire in week 2.
Here are mine (im on my handy, so im restricted in this sites features, sorry)
1. Rhonas's last Stand
For a very long time i wished
for a 2 mc huge, resilient
Beat-machine. Ichi knew i had to
reckon with a built in
disadvantage, but this one is
to mitigate by mana-elves &
grants long term value, over
Speed.
2. All the corrupted Gods.
3. Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh
Along with the corrupted Gods
in a Control-Deck.
4. Pride Sovereign
Love this card, even if i wont
build a dedicated Deck.
Not much else comes to my mind.
But in week 2 i expect a powerful Selesnya card to color-balance & hopefuly something powerful enough to combat the dark theme of HOU & bring Light within.
The columnist who revealed Rhonas last Stand, was talkin bout how to mitigate its drawback & that mana-elves would be well suited for the job & counted in some & mistakenly mentioned another cardname in this consort on purpose: “hope ten“
I guess thats the rare cheap mana-elf of this set with Exert.
What i else have hope in is Hazorets last ..... card. Just make it an insane burnspell pls !
Earthshaker Khenra caught my eye. A 2/1 Haste with recursive and an ETB effect all for 2 cmc seems pretty good. Some people mentioned that it could be in the non-existent Red Burn deck in standard, and I agree with that, but unfortunately Wizards does not want Burn to ever be part of Standard again. I think it slots into a low to the ground, cheap mono-Red deck.
Here are all the cards I am looking forward to so far (note that basically everything is for EDH):
Nimble Obstructionist
This is going straight into Ephara, God of the Polis and probably Thassa, God of the Sea. A 3/1 with Flash that also has utility to draw a card and counter an ability or just flash in as a blocker that still lets me draw a card off Ephara will fit right into Ephara who is all about Flash creatures and control. It fits less into Thassa, but having a Stifle that draws me a card isn't bad. It will probably also find its way into Prime Speaker Zeganna too since countering activated abilities is what that deck is all about.
Oketra's Last Mercy
This fits into Darien, King of Kjeldor quite nicely as that deck is all about taking damage and inflicting self-damage so another way to reset my life total is welcome. However, the drawback is too high for any of my other decks.
Razaketh, the Foulblooded
My first thought is that I want this in Sidisi, Brood Tyrant and The Gitrog Monster. Sidisi definitely wants it and I think Gitrog becomes more oppressive. The problem is that Gitrog often doesn't have many creatures on the board, but I only need a couple so it probably finds its way in there.
Ramunap Excavator The Gitrog Monster wants this and so does Sidisi, Brood Tyrant probably. The former for obvious reasons, but Sidisi is all about self mill so having a creature that triggers Sidisi, is easily recurred, and lets me play my lands from the graveyard is exactly what the deck wants.
Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh
This just seems like a fun card to slot into my Garza Zol, Plague Queen Tribal Vampires deck since he is the right colors. I already have the first Nicol Bolas Planeswalker card and this is going to find a spot too.
The Scarab God Sidisi, Brood Tyrant is the only deck this fits in and the Zombie subtheme of the deck fits right into what this god is doing. Plus it is graveyard hate against other decks and potentially a way to re-use some of my dead creatures (though I don't like exiling them).
The Scorpion God
This is more about having a somewhat unique Black/Red Legend that can be built around. My previous attempt at Rakdos was Lyzolda, the Blood Witch and I didn't care for the deck. Maybe The Scorpion God lends itself to a better deck.
Mirage Mirror Thassa, God of the Sea wants this card as an easy duplicate of a permanent I need or want. Thassa already has ways of tutoring it up and I have quite a few clones that are there just to make copies of Caged Sun and Gauntlet of Power. I know this is temporary but it is another way to make my Islands tap for more.
I'm very impressed with HoU so far! I've found toys for many of my EDH decks which is very pleasing and most surprisingly there was a card printed in this set that is MIRACULOUSLY an inclusion into my reeealy old school discard deck, that card being Torment of Scarabs. I can't wait to slap that curse onto someone before their first turn!
I don't have any major exciting favorites from this set, actually. Their really isn't an Avacyn, Angel of Hope level card in this set and it's mostly a checklist of playable cards. The Scarab God is sort of exciting and maybe The Locust God? Eternalize is largely overcosted jank that will never see play once the set rotates and cards like Abrade are more like the bread and butter of standard than anything that will last the ages.
I think the only major card I got excited for was Solemnity, which also completely kills any counter strategies so now it's Theros block all over again with enchantment creatures.
I was onboard the Nimble Obstructionist hype train earlier, but when I looked back at similar creatures, flash ETB just roasts this bird and comparing it to a Stifle is ludicrous. someone can Stifle a turn 1 fetchland. Someone can't cycle Nimble Obstructionist until at least turn 3 and then they probably already fixed their lands, so there's no point to it. The best thing the bird man can do is stop some annoying planeswalker activation late game or potentially stop a late game ability from firing off. For that we already have the new 3 mana counter spell from Aether Revolt that stops those plays, so this is really just a standard card or at best an EDH card.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Overwhelming Splendor- goes in a pet deck of mine-Enduring Ideal deck for Modern, but more to the point I love Humility in Legacy. Shame it does not affect all activated abilities.
Nice to see enchantments getting a look in recently with Cast Out and the big ones in the previous set. Who would have thought a game called "Magic" could have "enchantments", which are clearly not "magical" unlike...err creatures, bears, snakes and hippos being known magical creatures....not.
The rest of the set? Same old, same old. Artwork- dull as ever (please sack the person who thinks all mtg art should look the same- especially the way it does), the creatures- as ever, few creatures excites me to be honest, certainly none here, limited- bombs overly bomby as ever- not quite FRF level but close- removal weaker than it should be but not as weak as its predecessor, games are solid enough and cycling is always excellent for better games, story- could not give a flying, really, so I will leave that for those who care.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Momir Vig, Simic Visionary
Melek, Izzet Paragon
Oona, Queen of the Fae
Bruna, Light of Alabaster
Gisela, Blade of Goldnight
Rhys the Redeemed
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
Sen Triplets
The Mimeoplasm WUBRGSliver OverlordGRBUW WUBRGSliver Hivelord(Superfriends)GRBUW
God-Pharaoh's Gift Has been something I have been enjoying in both my saskia the unyielding Samurais and Gonti Lord of luxuryEDH lists, being able to recur Samurai as 4/4s and recur all the ETB effects that I have in Gonti as well as being able to let Gonti die, exile him to get a trigger again and throw him into the command zone is a very nice way to trigger him as many times as I can per cast.
Hour of Promise is an interesting one to me, just because it's like "Oh, hey, here's your fixed Primeval Titan, EDH players." It's a watch card, since you can still grab Coffers and Urborg with it. The two zombies are just gravy.
The gods are interesting enough. I'm particularly fond of The Locust God.
And of course, there's Crested Sunmare, which will be the mane attraction in many a lifegain deck.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

Yeah thats it so far.
The UR god
The rest of the god

This set looks great so far tho
To list a few anyway.
It will probably also find its way into Prime Speaker Zeganna too since countering activated abilities is what that deck is all about.
Hour of Revelation
This is a Planar Cleansing for 3 mana (fairly often). It won't go into every white deck, but I think it will fit right into Karamtera, God of Harvests since I can get Avacyn, Angel of Hope to protect my board. I will probably also find room for it in Darien, King of Kjeldor as nuclear option if I need it.
Oketra's Last Mercy
This fits into Darien, King of Kjeldor quite nicely as that deck is all about taking damage and inflicting self-damage so another way to reset my life total is welcome. However, the drawback is too high for any of my other decks.
Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign
This is a slightly cheaper Sphinx of Uthuun that reveals one less card (and works well with Sphinx of Uthuun to get more value). I think I will slot it into Sidisi, Brood Tyrant as it helps trigger Sidisi. I might also find room for it in Thassa, God of the Sea.

Thassa already has ways of tutoring it up and I have quite a few clones that are there just to make copies of Caged Sun and Gauntlet of Power. I know this is temporary but it is another way to make my Islands tap for more.
Desert of the Glorified & Desert of the Indomitable
The Gitrog Monster wants these and one will replace Blasted Landscape. I am not sure where the other one fits in yet.
Scavenger Grounds
This will go into Karametra, God of Harvests and probably Ephara, God of the Polis. Karametra can get to it off Crop Rotation to make fo an instant speed grave hate. Ephara on the other hand can use the colorless mana for Eldrazi Displacer and having some instant speed grave hate (assuming it is on the battlefield already) would be beneficial.
