On the new card Solemnity coming in the new set, it says, among other things, that lands can't get counters. Would this have any effect on comes into play abilities, such as Dark Depths? Would it come into play with 0 counters?
But to answer your question, yes Solemnity affects things that would enter the battlefield with counters, such as Dark Depths. So if Solemnity is in play, Dark Depths would enter with 0 counters on it.
Of course, the official rulings for the new set haven't been announced yet. So WotC could change the rules that govern interactions like this, but that seems unlikely.
Edit: And, actually, you don't even need a lifegain engine. Since you can't put age counters on Glacial Chasm, there'll be zero on it when it the cumulative upkeep trigger check how much you pay. So you'll pay zero life.

Even if you don't get it down first, you can just use Vampire Hexmage, Hex Parasite, etc. to clear off the counters.
This really should have been asked either in the Magic Ruling section or in the Rumored Card Rulings section.
