Now the complaining is over ! Noone can say now if we ever get a good Chandra. Chandra, Pyromaster & Chandra, Flamecaller actually are good & playable Chandras.
But this is the probably the Peak of her Power.
i first go over her single abilities.
+1 oK, ist already Card Advantage as a +1. But it also has another Option to relenquish to that Card & instead shock all Opponents or their Planeswalkers.
Getting to 5 Loyality immediately is very nice too. But there is something in this ability i dont fully understand:
It says that you may cast the exiled Card. if you dont, she Shocks. Chandra, Pyromaster though reads the the same, but that
you can only cast it UNTIL END OF TURN: So does that mean Chandra, Torch of Defiance can cast her exiled Cards, opposed to
Pyromancer, in later turns too ? If so, could you shock & later still cast the exiled Cards ?
+1 Interesting ability. So after i Play Chandra, i can still Play a cheap spell, ramp for big finishers or simply cast my whole Hand. Reminscent to
Garruk 1. So we already know how to evaluate this ability. all depends on your Hand & Deck.
-3 Yea, simple Removal. Or adds more damage additionally to your burn spell, to take down something huge & still have a 1 for 1. Sarkhan Dragonspeaker had the exact same ability, but 1 Mana cheaper is potentially 1 turn earlier. Her upper 2 abilities are pseudo
Protection in the meaning that she can draw stuff or Play more stuff to defend herself. This one is indipendet removal, but unlikely to repeat d:(
-7 Doesnt win right away, but 1 - 2 spells can already be enough in a more aggresive Deck.
Just like in the case of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar with very few Cards spoiled so far, already contender for best Card in the set.
4 Mana Planeswalkers have rarely + ability that provides Card-Advantage & even an alter mode in the same ability ! & she goes to 5 too.
To sum it up, she draws Cards, alters to Shocks, Adds 2 more mana constantly & gains Loyality. Or she kills 1 - 2 big creatures, or goes Ultimate.
i dont wanna Hype it all up, but i dont find any flaws here. Sure, she can not deal as well as Flamecaller with creature masses, but we are talkin bout a 4 Mana Planeswalker, not 6.
Ill Play her in Modern 4 sure. What is your Evaluation of her & also of the Environment she faces ?
well they went and made two more, garruk apex predator, and this. I think what they mean is, they will never print a 4 ability walker, unless we really want to push it
Modern? Plus 1 bolt your dude she at 5 go?also LoL plus 1 play Tibalt discard best card left go? Hahahaha but seriously modern interactions? Community help?
Feels to me like a card to create a hybrid aggro/burn deck in modern.
I just don't think there's enough good red cards in standard to want to play red just for Chandra. Whole set not spoiled yet so we will see but burn spells in standard are very thin and honestly pretty bad as most of them avoid being able to target players.

Lest we so easily forget Liliana of the dark realms which has a modal -3 that can either pump or reduce p/t.
Either way, I'm very pleased with this new Chandra.
Anyhow, the best I can come up with myself is a game in the top 8 of a PTQ back during Urza block in which we were starting game 3 with time already expired, so the tiebreaker rule was that whoever had more life after 3 turns would win. And I lost to... healing salve.
I can,t see myself playing the 6 mana one while I have a really good 4 mana option.
Also, someone hasn't learned from Price sculptor. What happened to "we'll never put 4 abilities on a PW again?"
The 6 mana one isnt for you then. Its part of the beginner deck series that Wizards is running to attract new players and introduce them to how Planeswalkers work. They arent supposed to be "good", that way tournament players are scrambling to get them, taking them away from the new players
W may only be paid with white mana. U may only be paid with blue mana. B may only be paid with black mana. R may only be paid with red mana. G may only be paid with green mana. C may only be paid with colorless mana. 1 may be paid with white, blue, black, red, green, or clolorless mana.

I think he meant Flamecaller, not the beginner box 6 mana one, but I could be wrong

I'm not saying it's bad. Just not as attractive as the 4 mana option. It's still playable.
Also, someone hasn't learned from Price sculptor. What happened to "we'll never put 4 abilities on a PW again?"
Mind Sculptor had absurd abilities, one of which was a +2 so he never died to damage. Flame Sculptor has reasonable abilities; she's got plenty of versatility but not much raw power. In short, unlike her predecessor, this is a very fair card. Care to clarify what you could possibly mean by saying that they "haven't learned"?
Besides, it's not like there haven't been other PWs with more than three abilities since JtMS. Remember when this guy was advertised as the first 5-ability PW?
I'd be very cautious in evaluating this cards in game value. She has 4 abilities yes, but I think WOtC will be pretty careful with what 4 abilities after JTMS. She is 3 turns from ulting and the ult isn't game ending. She can protect herself but only by dropping into bolt range. I don't think she is even in Nahiri's league.

If the ramp is good for your deck, this chandra pulls a lot of weight, as that can accelerate you quite a lot.
If you draw it later, you either refuel with card draw or kill something. So here also it depends a lot if you can kill the threat with 4 damage , if you cannot, thats a huge problem for this chandra (but theres not many 5 thoughness creatures around, beside the Eldrazi).
----
Its pushed a lot to 4 mana , and its at the very least efficient to simply use it as a removal / card draw engine.
Absolutly strong, but depending on what matters, the card might just be "good" but not crazy (as it still dies fairly easily to the flash Emerge creature, as you cannot do anything to stop that and you will eat the damage as it taps all your blockers away).
In a mirror with the green Nissa it will also suffer, as the 5/5 land will just aswell hit hard enough to kill this chandra.
The bigger slower Chandra will also kill it, with 6 power hast attackers.
All that said, the card is good, but it has enough flaws, to make it not a card that suits the standard format too well (outside of the mono burn shell, which can just use it as just another burn spell).
I can,t see myself playing the 6 mana one while I have a really good 4 mana option.

They fill different roles. One is for control, while the other can be slotted into aggro or midrange.
They never said they wouldn't put four abilities on a planeswalker again. They just said they would be more careful about it.
And they did learn their lesson with Jace. Chandra's four abilities don't make her universally amazing in any given situation, like Jace was.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

That first +1 is a lot worse than I initially thought
Makes her a lot less interesting for EDH
EDIT: does the fact that the ability says you may cast the exiled card "override the stack"? Like if I exile a sorcery am I able to cast it? Does the exile spell have to be an instant to be cast?
I think the only thing I don't like is the price tag the good version of Chandra is carrying right now. She's in high demand for sure and she looks like she may follow Giddeon's trajectory post release unless she doesn't find any good home. I'm still trying to figure out if I should pre-order the playset now if I want to play her or wait for the box openings and chance missing a tight window.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Yeah it's probably not worth waiting if it holds in spike mode once release hits. Still, I want to see more spoilers as they haven't spoiled the red Gearhulk yet.
