Sad that there are so lil new Card threads yet. & i feel this is absolutely worth it.
i dont know, but i find this Card just brutally strong. Can easily imagine this playin in Modern too.
Just imagine what you get if you can provide Crew 3, which is not difficult at all in a creature Deck.
5 coloress Mana, a huge Flyer that Lightning Bolts stuff at entering & at attacking everytime.
So every turn of yours, a huge hit & Removal basically ! Also dodges Wraths & sorcery removal
Like Inferno Titan, but 1 Mana less & accessible for all Decks with Evasion too.
i find this Baneslayer Angel Level strong & even better with constant Crew 3.
i dont wanna Hype it up, but it just seems so strong to me. All those vehicles in General seem quite powerful !

Ultimately this card is bad in constructed. It's another one of Wizards attempts at a creatures matter mechanic with the payoff not being spectacular.
Don't get me wrong this has to be mythic for limited. This breaks board stalls right open in the mid to late game. Suddenly your early game fodder turns into a giant flying monster allowing you to start punching through in the air? Yes people are gonna have this in their pool and wreck you with it at prerelease or you could get lucky and be the one smashing face with it.
The limited environment is going to be soaked with vehicles. We're already seeing the synergy with Speedway Fanatic and Start Your Engines. This is just the top of the food chain and something you can first pick every time for a great vehicle deck in draft.
Most card shops have this card at $3.99 preorder. Any feelings on if that price is going to rise or fall after launch? I'm a big Final Fantasy geek, so I might just buy it even if it stands a chance to drop.

I doubt it'll go any higher than that.
You can just play another crew & tap to hit for 6 again in the case of a wrath.
If you have a deck that can produce creatures fast enough to crew this when you want, and not care about board wipes, then that deck will not need this card.
I can't be the only one super hyped for this for Captain Sisay, can I? Flavor win off the charts - and giving Sisay a +1/+1 boost or having a 1/1 is incredibly simple. Love this card so much.

Running this in a Captain Sisay EDH deck is pretty good. You can search for it, bolt a creature/walker and then upgrade 3 power worth of creatures into 6 power that bolts a creature/walker every time you attack. I'm definitely planning to hunt down a foil copy for my Sisay deck but ...
Actually using Sisay as part of the crew though is pretty stupid even if it is nice for flavor reasons, any other creature/combination of creatures is better than skipping a Sisay activation to crew a ship, Sisay's searching ability is almost always going to be stronger and unless I'm missing something the ship damage doesn't count as commander damage.
It looks like EVERYONE is severely underestimating this card. It's a 6/5 flier that dodges sorcery speed removal, and wrath. AND it has an Inferno Titan ability attached to it. Depala can crew it herself, and when she does that she gets to look at cards and put dwarves and vehicles into hand. And the vehicles and dwarves get +1/+1...I think it's hilarious that people think this is garbage. I'm pre-ordering four for sure, at 3.99 a pop, I can't beat that.

1. We don't even know how many playable dwarves the set will have. WotC does have a habit of just planting lords in sets where they're not playable.
2. She (and two other creatures)can certainly be used to crew it, but she needs to still be alive, when it shows up. And a creature that provides card advantage tends to be a removal magnet.
3. I'm not sure how likely it is that the 3 creatures you tap provide less damage and value than the ship if you had just attacked with the creatures instead. Depala is already half the damage it deals.
4. When evaluating the card, remember that it doesn't have haste. So the turn you play it, it's a 5 mana lightning bolt. To most players "5 mana, wait for your next turn to maybe do something good" is not attractive.
Constructed decks don't run filler cards. In a deck with tokens it might be worth it. But would you tap Gisela, the broken blade for it? Tireless tracker?grim flayer? The cost in tempo of crewing it is not negligible.
5. It dodges sorcery speed removal, but, if we're talking about standard. The only card that you're really happy to dodge is declaration in stone I believe. Otherwise, players will play instant speed if they can. And having this destroyed, or even bounced in response to the crew is a tempo destruction. Having to sacrifice 3 of my assets for a turn, when the card itself is vulnerable to creature destruction, worries me.
White does have stuff like Thraben inspector that they won't mind using as crew. But would that deck want skysovereing though?
Technically it dodges mass removal, but mass removal still negates the card.
So it's not being underestimated (which I'm not sure is tehcnically the right term since no one has played with the card yet). It's just that the card's drawbacks are very obvious.
Lumbering Falls is a good pilot, as any 3/X hexproof creature (speaking of any format here, basically).
3. I'm not sure how likely it is that the 3 creatures you tap provide less damage and value than the ship if you had just attacked with the creatures instead. Depala is already half the damage it deals.
The ship deals 3 damage when etb and everytime it attacks. It's 6 damage in the air on top of that, so you have a total of 9 damage. A 3/3 grounder is no half of what the ship does.

That's false. She can crew it all by herself. READ THE CARD.
Good that Thing doesnt Need 3 creatures to tap. If that was the case, then it would almost be unplayable. But as it is, it Needs less resources to turn it on. Dont question if ist good. Question if your creature Deck can reliably provide Crew 3

Yes....that's what 5 mana lightning bolt means.......
But I just noticed, it's total power 3 or more, not 3 creatures. A lot less scary.
If you have a deck that can produce creatures fast enough to crew this when you want, and not care about board wipes, then that deck will not need this card.
But then those creatures won't have haste, whereas this one dodges removal and then you can play any creature with power 3+ and immediately swing another 6 flying and bolt on attack. The thing is that this card dodges board wipes, not the crew. I may have misunderstood you, but I'm just offering my thoughts!

I'm not sure that tapping 5 mana to attack with a 6/5 flying creature is a good tactic, though...
True, but then again you're looking at a board state that completely dodges sorcery-speed creature removal. If they board wipe your creatures, and you have that manland in play, you immediately have access to your 6/5 flier and bolt on attack without playing any other cards!

there is a relativly high number of creatures at 2 and 3 mana that can come down and crew this are a sweeper. which leaves you win more mana to play another spell and still get to swing in. ive been suggesting it as a top end for more aggressive decks sense voltaic brawler and longtusk cub can both crew it once the ground clogs up

Well, Skyship Weatherlight is more a favor win. This is a fun addition to a causal Captain Sisay deck, sure.
And Weatherlight isn't really that good, tbh.

I reckon that Skysovereign, Consul Flagship is best activated with a creature such as Depala, Pilot Exemplar. Not sure if Simic really supports artifacts, but whatever. I reckon Jeskai is the best color combo, blue for Herald of Kozilek.
