I figured that Crucible of Worlds was going to be the expensive chase artifact, but Mana Crypt blew that away. Either that, or Ensnaring Bridge. EB has been creeping up in price, but the foils shot up massively just recently thanks to their exclusion from EMA.

Cursecatcher. Could have been there, stung people a tad financially at most, pleased many others, upshifted to rare perhaps, no big shakes but not a terrible pull. Usable in Modern and Legacy, alongside FOW Wastes they have printed. Merfolk could be an entry deck for Legacy that is never bad with 0 reserved lists cards, but no so cheap as it still needs Force, Wastes and Vials.
Imperial recruiter- over Mana Crypt, @ Mythic.
Containment Priest- just why not- ideal mid range pull that upsets no one usable in limited, Commander, constructed.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Grim Monolith is on the reserved list, while I think we might see mana vault in conspiracy 2. I'm stunned we didn't get flusterstorm, rishadan port and imperial recruiter when we got Karakas (which wrecked me in the contest btw). Other p3k stuff such as capture of jingzhou would've been much appreciated for edh as well. I also highly anticipated the draft archetypes to be tribal orientied with classics such as merfolk and goblins. But hey, there's always the next eternal masters to look forward to.
I'm SO SICK of the "too strong for Standard" argument. It's the new "Dies to removal". We can have a two mana 4/4 with a zillion abilities, but we can't just have Accumulated Knowledge. Makes sense.
Enemy fetches is shocking me set after set.... I kinda expected those in Modern Masters 2, then Battle for Zendikar, then Eternal masters... and got nothing.
Like many I will say it is surprising to not see Flusterstorm, True-Name Nemesis, and Containment Priest seeing as all of those are solely for Legacy/Vintage in a set made for them and they have only seen print once, although TNN probably would have been mythic because that would be rather nuts in limited.
One I wish I could say I was surprised to not see was Damnation, but then again this is the 3rd time since MM2 that this card hasn't been put into something so obvious. Makes no sense how this couldn't be included, but then again it costs so much it probably would have been mythic (yes, I'm salty about cards being bumped up because of price.)
I was surprised a lot of P3K cards weren't in this set. Not many other places you can print these and this would have been perfect, but instead we got the Honden cycle.
Same here, although some people within the community went berserk when a common slot was "wasted" on a Giant Tortoise, so it probably was a good thing they didn't add too many purely nostalgic commons. I would have been very happy having the opportunity to get some foil Scryb Sprites!
I expected at least a few cards from Portal Three Kingdoms - the fact that all of them need a reprint is really quite obvious.
Crucible of Worlds is probably the #1 card that I'm surprised didn't make the cut. I thought they were going to print Fyndhorn Elves instead of the ten millionth printing of Llanowar Elves, but that's a (mostly) minor thing. I was hoping for foil Pox with the original art, too.
I knew they wouldn't print Inquisition of Kozilek, Hymn to Tourach and Cabal Therapy in the same set. I wasn't sure which would make the cut, though I leaned strongest on Hymn and was 50/50 on CT because just those two even at uncommon give a *very* strong black discard presence, and thought CT over IoK because it's greater, longer presence in legacy through dredge.
Minor thing, don't know where else to say it, but I'm surprised that the rarities on Argothian Enchantress and Sylvan Library aren't reversed. I know a lot of people were up in arms about Ench being a mythic, but if it and Sylvan exchanged rarities, I don't think as many people would complain. Just a weird thought, though.
Worldly Tutor is the one I'm most surprise by.Pretty sure portal will come later. They need to save something for later set.
How many times can that excuse be used, though?
"They have to save something for the next set!" works if you're printing to demand, but quite honestly, they could fill this set with Vintage/Legacy/EDH staples, and because of the limited print run, they wouldn't meet demand. They don't need to save anything for the next set. If they packed this set with playable cards, and did an exact reprint in 2 years, then every 2 years after that, they'd still sell every single printing out and it STILL wouldn't be enough. "Saving things for the next set" doesn't make any sense as a reason, and even less as an excuse for them to reprint a set of 95% chaff and 5% chase Mythics.

Cards are game pieces, and should be treated as such, easily replaceable.
Cards are not money, investments, or a retirement fund, and should never have been treated as such.
Wizards made a mistake caving to speculators once, and we still pay for that mistake 2 decades later.
"Entitled:" the entire ad hominem fallacy condensed into a single word. It doesn't strengthen your argument to attack motivations, it just makes you look like you don't understand the argument.
We all had cards we expected to see in EMA, here are a few I expected and why-
Portal/starter cards-
Grim tutor, imperial seal, imperial recruiter, ravages of war, rolling earthquake, three visits, xiahao dun, and others
these cards badly need an reprint and are popular across all formats hey are legal in.
Mana Vault/grim monolith-
Needed almost as much as mana crypt, just more readily available, but not by much. expect these two to climb in price with no reprints.
what were you expecting?
Commander decks
Nekusar, Trostani, Horde of notions, Merieke ri beret, Talruum, Sidesi, Shattergang brothers, Shirei, Deretti, Azusa, Sigurda, Geist of st. Traft, Bw enchantments[/spoiler]
-And others under construction
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
Doomsdayin'
I would have lost because Dark Ritual isn't in the set.
Reprint Stasis!
Control needs more love.

Shocked we didn't get Flusterstorm, True-Name Nemesis and Containment Priest which are pretty expensive cards from non modern legal sets that were never printed in a regular set.
The others I missed were already mentioned by someone.
One I wish I could say I was surprised to not see was Damnation, but then again this is the 3rd time since MM2 that this card hasn't been put into something so obvious. After that Berserk, Imperial Recruiter, Crucible of Worlds, Worldly Tutor (seriously, why Green Sun's Zenith over this? It makes no sense), Valor and Anger (why are Wonder and Brawn always reprinted, but not these two?), Dark Ritual or Cabal Ritual, Stoneforge Mystic, Genesis, and too many other things to list.
Well, Green Sun's Zenith is the stronger card, actually.
It's weird that they choose it this time though, because of the rest of the cycle.
I would have liked to see more cards from Portal reprinted in the set
Special thanks to XenoNinja of Heroes of the Plane Studios for the awesome avy!
