I don't play Modern that much, does Infect run Twisted Image and why? I mean, killing 0/x stuff and cantriping for U seems great but how many relevant creatures in Modern have those stats? Noble Hierarch / Birds of Paradise?

It's a pretty versatile tool for infect:

2. Delve fuel for become immense is good.
3. Kills flip Jace, spellskite, heirarch/birds, wall of omens/roots, etc. spellskite being the most problematic although less prevalent with twin gone still shows up.
4. Pump with pendlehaven and then swap P/T for an extra point of infect.
5. Card in hand to threaten more pump than you may otherwise have. (Dunno about this one but hey reading your opponent is part of the game).
Im gonna try it as a 3-off in my delver deck...
I thinks serves the same purposes as YP (adding more wincons this deck needs), cost 2 and good only after a few spells.. the difference is that when this thing hits 4 spells (i often reach to 4 elemental creatures with YP) its a much better finisher than piro, and dodges bolt thats one of the big removals unlike piro. Not to mention the sinergy with snapcaster. I dont care the bounce of delver, are you kidding?
thoughts:
why 3 not 4? i dont need it in the first 7, you´ll probably cast it turn 3
why 3 not 4? bad top deck
why 3 not 4? young piro will still be the tank in the deck, this card just add more wincons
so why YP 4? piro gives value to the first spell after him, it´s still the heavyweight lifter creature of the deck
im taking out the 2 lavamancers and 1 pia and kiran for it...
So I did make sure to read through the whole post before mentioning this... I had a test run of a UGB version of a deck running Thing in the Ice and right before hand I slotted in some Natural Affinitys... I can say I had some turn 3-4 blow outs and left some very angry people in my wake.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.

So I've gone through different variations of this, all UG but with a different third color each time. UGW (Bant) is defiantly the fastest and most stable with the Natural Affinity variant. It goes off pretty easy turn 2-3 and has good recovery after since it's running Nobel hierarch and wall of omens. UGB (bug) has a much more oppressive presence, being able to use Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek, liliana of the veil and Abrupt Decay where all very punishing. I found myself gearing down a bit for this version, going off turn 4-5, but usually ended up with a more stable board presence after the fact, more testing to see if hunted horror is worth it is defiantly required. Last version I tested was RUG (rug) this was about the same as bant but the added bonus of running lightning bolt was pretty great. All in all the builds with Natural Affinity are pretty damn great. I never ran more the 3 main board, opting for 2 in the bug build, but even then the usually end up blowing the game out if they resolve, even if the don't you end up with a 7/8 which is damn strong. I know a lot of people where concerned about twisted image but I found myself running spellskite and mutagenic growth in every build so that never seemed to be a problem.
I'm really liking these builds and I'm not sure which I'm going to settle on at the moment.
Edit: oh as a side note I loved running Krosan grip with this guy against affinity since they can do nothing about the flip

Simic charm might be another option to look at. Always felt it was good, just never really found a home. What about using other split second cards? Say trickbind to wreck their fetches. Sudden Death or Stonewood Invocation are some other possibilities. Become immense seems gross with him too, though that may be reaching a bit.
Anxious to see if this works out. BTW, I did a quick spec buy on Natural Affinity...just in case...lol.

Well, at least now it is 10 dollars, not 20. I still don't see the huge appeal of the card... where is it showing up? Some modern builds of blue moon? Some unplayable standard decks? The hype is still getting the price of this card high.

I think It could do a Desecration demon and perhaps be good in the next standard meta. Hope it drops to 6 ish then I'll buy
Checking the 'Sold Items' on Ebay, it looks like auctions have nearly reached this point already. Buy-It-Nows usually lag a bit so I'd stay focused on just the auctions.
If you don't need them immediately, I'd probably wait another 4-6 weeks--they should continue dropping this whole time. SO many of these being opened. His window to really 'get there' in competitive formats is rapidly closing--not really from a lack of trying either--folks eventually move on to other cards and then he'll free fall.
I will definitely pick up a playset to try out but now I'm waiting for $12-15 playsets.

Sudden Death or Stonewood Invocation are some other possibilities. Become immense seems gross with him too, though that may be reaching a bit.
Anxious to see if this works out. BTW, I did a quick spec buy on Natural Affinity...just in case...lol.
Testing with some of those have shown mixed results against certain decks. Stonewood Invocation is sadly too expensive and comes out too late. Trickbind is very good but is more of a sideboard card so I'd say that it's more meta dependent then anything. Sudden death has been great but it also suffers from being 3 mana which means I had to slow down the deck a bit and rely on a more tempo based build, which was still fine you just have to concede the fact you won't be flipping TiTi quickly, just plays a turn or two slower over all. I've been having better luck with Dismember since the cost can be reduced and the life loss is pretty negligible over all. Simic charm was a mixed bag. It worked great a couple of times but other times was a bit of a dead card.
I have a rather rough list for each build at the moment. As of right now the BUG build has been showing the most promise so that's the one I'll post, still working on the other builds.
The land base has been one of the things I've been changing around the most so it's not even worth showing. I've been playing around with some of the new lands to see how they stack up and it's again been a mixed bag. Over all though this has been one of the most fun versions of the deck so far. It does not have the same speed of the UGW but the results have been much more consistent over all thanks to Abrupt decay and Thought Seize keeping them off their early game and Liliana of the veil keeping the pressure up after that. I have to admit not having Path to exile kind of sucks but the utility the black provides in the sideboard is welcomed. This version plays very much like normal BUG decks but capitalizes on your opponent over extending and punishes them for it. I've had a few games where I with held some land and waited for an anger of the gods or Damnation and used Natural affinity to reset the both of us only to recover faster. I've been having a lot of fun with this idea, no version of the deck is very expected which is another big thing it has going for it and the recovery process for other decks against it is also not easy. The fact that Natural Affinity is instant and can be used on their endstep or in response to the trigger to bounce has been a huge benefit to the trick as well. I've had many people make mistakes or no leave enough up to deal with the flip (thinking it's just going to be their creatures and no their lands too). I've had a lot of games conceded on the spot and some ver funny moments when they try and tap a land they just played only to be reminded that it has summoning sickness as a creature. Over all of you want to try something new out this is well worth building.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
just a thought what about working with autumnal gloom in the black green blue version? I'm looking at a Blue Green Version right now but adding black is good too.
I think I may make it a goal in my life to try to cast Thing in the Ice and then Æther Snap followed by a cheap cantrip of some sort in commander. Snap kills all planeswalkers, removes all tokens from the game and takes all the counters off of TitI (but it doesn't transform because the spell resolves after TitI's trigger leaves the stack) and then cast a cantrip to transform it and bounce all non-horror creatures. It's a bit involved, but I need more reasons for me to play with my favorite pet cards, Æther Snap.
Maybe I'll also throw in Dark Depths for good measure, to take advantage of the snap synergy.
Simic charm might be another option to look at. Always felt it was good, just never really found a home. What about using other split second cards? Say trickbind to wreck their fetches. No vampire hexmage since you are in BGU? Sacrificing it to remove all counter off titi in response to casting your natural affinity could easily make most player scoop in the earlier game..
Personally I feel that RUG might be better, playing the land destruction route with boom // bust, goblin dark-dweller, fulminator mage and combine with natural affinity and simic charm to hexproof titi..

See this is what I like, people coming up with new ideas rather then rehashing old ones. As for your idea I like it, I had not thought about a boom bust build but it's worth trying out.

Maybe I'll also throw in Dark Depths for good measure, to take advantage of the snap synergy.
TappedOut
Would love to have more input to improve!
See this is what I like, people coming up with new ideas rather then rehashing old ones. As for your idea I like it, I had not thought about a boom bust build but it's worth trying out.
Shadow of doubt can act as pseudo LD for fetches and cantrips.
