You need 2 basics to make one of 2 colors and each land is of 2 types.
Plus you get the added bonus when you draw nothing but deuce lands you can say -- Man my mana just deuced all over me -- simple and efficient, everyone will know exactly what you mean.
Here is the scientific reason to call these Tangos: All other popular sets of cards have a 5-letter suffix like shock, check or fetch, therefore the obvious choice should totally be tango.

Because "Crowd" and "Deuce" and several other recommendations that weren't listed in the biased poll totally don't fit that criteria.

Current Decks:
Modern
Modern Warp / UR Control / UR Storm / Naya Breachshift / ElectroBalance
Legacy
Solidarity / Lands / Sneak and Show / Grixis Delver / Reanimator / Belcher / Storm / Dredge
Pros are calling them Battle Lands. Sounds way better then all of the alternatives provided here.

Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.

Hey folks, I'm an editor from our Wiki, where an anonymous editor created an article for these lands last week under the name "Tangoland". Please note that the presence of that article is in no way an endorsement of the name.
I'd like to ask that if you find any useful citations, particularly from first-party WotC sources, or from high-profile blogs or other major coverage of the set, you either reply here, or if you're feeling ambitious, add those citations to the article yourself. However, please refrain from starting an edit war over the name - find citations to prove that it should change. If we find that another name has clearly won the community over, we'll happily move the article to the appropriate location.

Those are an excellent start. For myself, at least, the official article carries a lot of weight, but I'm just one editor, and not an admin capable of moving the article.
I would guess that any possible move will wait until there's a clear preponderance of use of one name or another... which is typically how wikis operate. The article really shouldn't have been started so soon.
I will be referring to them as 'Zendikar Duals' or 'Zen Duals'. I like the idea of calling them 'Doublecheck' lands (or perhaps 'Dualcheck' might be better except for the obvious State Farm "Discount Doublecheck" reference). 'Tango lands' seems a little too cute of a name.
Only around here. Everyone else is calling them Battle lands.

If we are going to go with a clever name, Charm Lands is dramatically better and makes more sense than tango lands. It's all about the syllables. Fewer is always better.

there's another similarity between those nicknames: they're all one syllable. tango fails this criteria.

It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Guys guys guys guys Guys! Let's call them Bronzelands. Both because they come in third (after two basics) AND they come in third (after fetches and shocks).
Epic World! Because seriously! It's the awesome!

Just curious, but why not take a more simplistic approach to the nicknames of these new duals. I know there has been a lot of discussion over the names of these lands but what do they do? Basically I feel they "Mix" with other lands of other colors seamlessly since there is no limitations on color, as well as they are themselves "mixed".
So I submit the following;
BondLands
MixedLands
BlendLands
HybridLands
MergeLands
SyncLands
And my favorite so far, FuseLands
Base, Battle, and Double-check are ok but not great names
Lag, Late, and Slow are all pretty decent
Tango is clearly the best name

There's too much momentum behind the Tango name for it to change though. Which is good - it's a terrible joke name, and I'm a huge fan of bad jokes.
