SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!
the OP seems pretty cynical. I for one think its a good change and it doesn't exactly require a lot of effort to recycle anything. I plan on recycling every product from WoTC in the future.
I think its really cool that they are doing it but unfortunately I am not aware of anywhere that I can easily recycle such product where I am. Small towns in the middle of nowhere tend to be less supportive of recycling plans and you have to go more out of your way to do such activities.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
My area in California tends to support recycling very well, so I'll definitely be taking advantage of the recyclable nature of these packs. That being said, I also expect to hold onto some of them due to their convenience as storage and mailing tools (akin to how top-loaders are used right now when mailing cards).
Just got to say, you've definitely earned distinction as an MTGS hero

Because he's the hero MTGS deserves, and the one it needs right now. So we'll global him. Because he can take it. Because he's not just our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. An expired rascal.

Ugh. Bad news for people trying to hoard some for future profits.
So what you're saying is "great news" for people to actually open packs and play with the cards, or otherwise get them into circulation? Because I'm all for that. Hoarding sealed product only hurts the people who actually want to play with it by artificially driving up prices.
So we know it was mostly a scheme to increase prices, but how many of you actually plan to recycle them?
It has been suggested that it has to do with the increase in MSRP, but a better theory is the MSRP was raised to better reflect the actual selling price (and thus increase Wizard's cut of the profits).
I am ELATED that they are moving to recyclable material. I will always recycle these packs. It is amazing how much waste there is EVERY FRIDAY for drafts in EVERY MAGIC STORE. The amount of waste that could be converted into recycling is astonishing.
I am a little confused I recycled my plastic wrappers. They aren't as biodegradable as the new ones but I still put plastic in the recycle bin. Or am I the only one that did this? Here in California recycling is huge. Don't ruin the environment.
I'm just astounded by the way this is talked about by Americans here. As if it's a massive chore to just throw it in the recycling bin instead of the rubbish bin. At my LGS they're right next to each other. Recyclable packs just make sense because all the plastic wrappers do is get thrown away. No point making something that can't be recycled if all it does is get thrown away immediately. I guess the state of recycling in the USA is pretty awful.
Obviously they'll have to make the packs so they can't be convincingly repacked for fraud before but they should be able to figure that out.
In some places in the US (particularly rural areas) there is no recycling available or recycling requires you to drive a long distance to a recycling center because it is not picked up.
Still no reason to complain. If recycling is available, recycle.
Unless there is a recycling bin or something in the LGSs where these are being opened, I don't see it happening too much. Recycling is not a bad idea, but the support system for it is too small, I believe, in most parts of the U.S., for it to be well accepted and effective. The truth is, if I were to open some of these, I would not go out of my way to find a recycling bin somewhere to dispose of them, since there is not one in my LGS.
For everyone that thinks this is good, you do realize these are pretty easy to reseal...
For the extra slow, people are going to open packs look at the cards reseal them and sell them on ebay just like people used to look through the pack and see what was in it prior to ice age. This was the one of dumbest thing that they ever could have done

^ This.
And the excess glue on the outside of the packs will make them unusable as a build your own draft cube card holder.

Wizards has damage-controlled that they tested for security and they are confident there are no issues... but are they believable? Who's right? The YouTubers and forum posters saying it's easy, or Wizards who say it's not? I don't trust either, I just need to see a pack for myself to determine I guess. I'm slightly worried about it, though. I have a box coming soon, it should be shrinkwrapped, right? If it's not, do I have a problem on my hands?

Depends from where you get your box. Boxes from reliable sources should be shrinkwrapped. End of story.

Yes. That's a problem.
You will see after your box how easy these are to tamper with and the residual/excess glue on the outside of the packs is noticeable. I have 2 more boxes to open and at a 1/12 excess glue rate, well, you all can do the math

Is the recyclable just a gimmick for MM 2015, or is this the trend going forward?
