I gotta go with Atarka, I love the fact that when she enters play she can just straight up destroy all the other Dragonlords except her fellow sister in green!

Honestly surprised that people think Atarka is bad. If any of these Dragons see play in Standard, it will be Atarka followed by Silumgar. Atarka can come out extremely fast in any GR deck and just destroys the board and gives you insane advantage. How anyone can say Atarka is bad in Standard is just beyond me.
My question then becomes, since it won't be missed, why play it to begin with. At best its win more. But hey, if your advertising this with Ugin, Father of Winmore, it makes much more sense...

Oh of course, Ugin is just a trash winmore card and isn't at all a standard powerhouse whose resolving can lock certain decks out of the game...? I think the issue here is that you're just looking to be the pessimist.

I would say Dragonlord Atarka is more like a souped up Inferno Titan. It costs one more mana doesn't have the attack trigger and doesn't hit players but it's a faster clock than Bogardan Hellkite, deals more ETB damage and it is evasive with trample tossed in so it's pretty guaranteed damage will get through if it lives. I think this is an amazing card to combo with Xenagos, God of Revels. Even though it not a 1-hit kill like the Atarka v1 it is 16 damage and it is a much better card on it's own. Not sure if whip decks want to go red for this versus Hornet Queen but I would love to try it
Not pessimistic, I just don't care about standard. When I evaluate a card, standard doesn't even enter into the equation.

Ojutai is pretty medium. It and Dromaka are similar in that they're hard to answer immediately, but Dromaka, you're generally getting more value out of the turn you play it since you get to proactively do things on your turn with it in play while Ojutai either sits there doing nothing but blocking, or exposes itself once you try to do something.
Kolaghan has haste which is very powerful, but you need to reimagine a whole new deck for the card and nothing jumps to mind.
Silumgar is the worst sower of temptation possible. Do not want. Maybe as a sideboard card.
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.
I can go with that. LK, you are the Mace Windu of red mages...cool, tempered logic in deliberation, but capable of just flat kicking tail when the situation warrants it.

Atarka can beat a lot of face. I can see it in a jund whip of erebos deck doing massive work. So, he gets my vote, though honestly, I don't really like any of them, and a few of them seem worse than their already mediocre Fate versios.

Jund Dragons will be a deck but not the one you are imagining.
This is the curve I have right now.
T2 caryatid
T3 Explosive Vegetation
T4 Dragonlord Kolaghan
T5 Atarka, World Render
If not disrupted at all your opponent is dead on the spot.
DL Atarka is good but I'm not sure it is much better than World Render. Most of my games she has gone unanswered and ends the game within 2 turns even if your opponent is at high life totals.
Ojutai was going to be my pick but after seeing Rending Volley there isn't a way to protect her at all. Too many Stormbreath Dragons in the format.
Control decks use black and white removal so Dromoka is just bad.
Sower of Temptation would not see play right now. Silgimar is just a bigger version. Taking a planeswalker is not that relevant right now.
I look at every single one of the new dragons and keep thinking to myself "If only"
If only Ojutai had 5 toughness and could block the most ubiquitous card in Standard right now.
If only Atarka cost one less and was a little smaller.
If only Silumgar had kept hexproof, or didn't say 'till he dies'. I mean he is a Mythic now, but he cost the same as before and they made his body worse for Christ's sake. Bonus points though if you can feign helpless and manage to steal an ult-ready planeswalker.
If only Khologan actually protected himself from duplicated removal spells, or if he also looked at cards in exile...hello delve block. I think he is worse than Butcher of the Horde, and that is barely good enough to see a little bit of standard play.
If only Dromoka had another ability instead of lifelink that actually interacted with control decks. Bad Sigarda is a good assessment imo
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
I think think the only good thing about Dromoka is that opponents can't cast spells on your turn. Otherwise, lifelink is the only other thing you want.
This entire page of posts calling the Dragonlords all trash and unplayable in standard is hilarious in hindsight, after the Pro Tour where Ojutai, Silumgar and Atarka were prominent features in top performing decks and in the top 8.
Yeah it really is. Same thing with Silumgar's Scorn
But when was the last time where such a thing didn't happen? Sphinx's Revelation went from $5 who wants this card? to $30+ format staple.
Pretty sure there where also people who thought that Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Liliana of the Veil were bad. Now there are both ~$90 cards.
But exactly this makes spoiler season so much fun, right?

I was just thinking the same thing! And props to Silumgar for being the only dragonlord to have both his incarnations heavily played.

That's not surprising. He's a boss. Just look at him.

Why do I think this? Honestly just going by the average pricetag.
This is all subject to change as standard does of course. If I were to guess, since we are having some form of giant tentacle monsters that are typically bigger than our dragon friends next block, Silumgar may become the number 1 dragon since he can snatch them out from your opponents lovecraftian fingers.
Not that I see Eldrazi as completely invalidating/outdating our dragons lords as historically, Eldrazi don't fly.
Really? cus she can't target Ojutai.

Atarka ETBs and wraths a lot of board. Yes.
Well then we're arguing different topics. I play standard exclusively at the moment.
