I just hate how Wizards acts like they would've reprinted JTMS every time they explain why they nerfed a card that looks very niche anyway.
It's a fine card. It was created with Standard and EDH mostly in mind where destruction board wipes are what ruins aggressive creature decks. Simple as that.

Gavin Verhay said control decks were using it to finish games in FFL. I wonder what rainbow crack they're on. Is 5C control coming back?
To be fair, he was referring specifically to the 7/7 version of this card. So it was likely a three or four color control deck splashing the last color for a 7/7 indestructible sliver.
The most effective way to stop them from overwhelming you is to destroy them, and now we can't even do that!?
You mean, I HAVE to have an exile effect or they're staying for good? That's Bull!
Slivers are irritating enough, and now we have to contend with this guy and Diffusion Sliver in the same set.
It's not even as hard to cast as you think with Chord of Calling, Manaweft Sliver and Sliver Hive all being standard legal right now. Oh, and Mutavault, How could we forget him?
...
... I think I may be tempted to be one of those irritating players XD.

msun: Knives scoop ice cream.
Highroller: No they don't, knives don't scoop. Spoons scoop.
msun: Well, knives SHOULD scoop icecream.
Highroller: We have spoons that do it. Moreover, the shape of a knife that would scoop ice cream would make it horrible for performing the functions of a knife.
msun: Highroller, you bring up spoons as though they were the utensil used for scooping ice cream.

If I crack one in the sealed tomorrow, I wont be playing him. Unless I get loads of fix.
I think for sealed/ draft it would have been nice to have a cycle of common slivers too though.
Bring back Horned Sliver!
