It would be nice to have a playable "X" costing artifact to use with this card. That way you get fuel when you have to ramp, and you get a beater when you have the engine assembled. If every piece is one or the other I fear the deck will be too inconsistent.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm grabbing these up at the prerelease. The way M15 is foreshadowing with artifacts... an "artifact matters" Sub theme could be coming.

Astral Cornucopia - Don't think it's worth it but turn 4 you convoke it for 6CMC....maybe 9CMC in the right deck.
Ensoul Artifact, generator Servant, Scrapyard mongrel, Aeronaut tinkerer, Goblin Kaboomist and Shrapnel Blast all lead me to believe that R/U artifacts could be a serious threat.
As for the artifacts themselves, the best would be: Springleaf Drum, Scuttling Doom engine (Most awesome name for a card EVER), Soul of New Phyrexia,Ornithopter and lets not forget Phyrexian Revoker
