Me and a friend of mine were thinking of doing two-headed commander using Ob Nixilis, Unshackled and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed.
"I dare you to cast a tutor or ramp spell. If you do you will lose 10 life and a creature."
"I dare you to cast a noncreature spell. You will lose 6 life."
"We dare you to cast a noncreature tutor or ramp spell. You will lose 16 life and a creature."
then, in some ways, that's even BETTER than them taking the 10 to fetch a land. If they don't want to crack their fetch, they've essentially failed to play a land for the turn, and that's a HUGE tempo loss.
You all make it sound like it's absurdly uncommon to just not need to fetch after a few turns. Most decks don't have any real use for more than a few mana in Modern and many decks don't run fetches. This card will see exactly zero Modern play, even if there was already a reanimator deck this fit into easily.
More mana = more spells per turn, even if your curve tops at 4 or lower.

You will not remember my face, your name, or your journey, but in the end...
You will accede my every command.
Oh, no, I'm not saying it's going to see any modern play. All I'm saying is that if you could land this early, it would be a big tempo loss for fetch lands.
Legacy - Turn one on the play. Drop Underground Sea, Cast a Lotus Petal, then Entomb, put Ob in the Yard, crack the Petal and Reanimate. Hold Daze or Force of Will to protect. Any deck running fetches can easily put in top deck mode.

Ok, So why has no one said this yet? This guy seems pretty useless in all but EDH. And I believe he was designed for this specific reason - Does anyone remember the M14 card Shadowborn apostel??? Ob Nixilis as commander, load the deck with demons, tutors, ramp artifacts, any black ramp you can find, thrumming stone and alot of shadowborn apostels. If you have thrumming and ob out and play a shadowborn and you could get alot of apostels out. Sac 6 of them, Ob gets +6/+6 and you get a new demon. How was he not made specificaly for Shadowborn apostel? That's my question lol. The 10 life and a creature for searching is just a bonus in EDH. Put darksteel plate and lightning greaves on Ob and there's not much to worry about.
^ Try making Teysa your commander and load the deck up with WB-goodies that caters to a handful of powerful demons and then swarm-tactics. There's really NO reason why Ob should be your commander when you can have him in your deck as a surprise to someone breaking a fetch or playing a tutor (which people will eventually) by which you get Ob, a +1/+1 counter on him and they sacrifice a creature and lose 10 life. Oh and btw you get 6 1/1 fliers as well - not accounting whatever other anthem-stuff you add to fuel the fires.
Just to make an example of some of the white-splash goodies:
- Vindicate
- Utter End
- Remembrance
- Cathars' Crusade (works wonderfully with Thrumming Stone)
- Pontiff of Blight (technically a mono-black creature but I think the extort makes it white in color identity)
- Field of Souls
- Leonin Sun Standard (why not keep those Apostles around and pump them up to 5/5's? The flying spirit tokens just aids to make it rather nasty)
- Athreos, God of Passage (Perhaps even a substitute commander if you prefer. At least it's interesting to be able to switch between them. Both are good commanders for the deck. Teysa adds the most utility, Athreos adds the most pressure)
Did I forget to mention that creature-removal is semi-easy with Teysa as commander?
"I dare you to cast a tutor or ramp spell. If you do you will lose 10 life and a creature."
"I dare you to cast a noncreature spell. You will lose 6 life."
"We dare you to cast a noncreature tutor or ramp spell. You will lose 16 life and a creature."
Lovisa Coldeyes the Barbaric Warlord (EDH)
Labyrinth Smackdown (Standard, RR Minotaur Tribal RR)
Jeopardy (Casual)

He's the first creature I want to play when going against green decks that spill out lands from their library.
