Harness by Force cause in late game you can mess too much with this card...
but the quimera is the bomb in the pack.
and Blue is too strong here soo if you get into it you know at least 2 other people will be just cause the evasion guys.
Id take the Supply Line Cranes , as they are very strong white common and the only white card from this booster, so i can easily cut white and let the next guys battle it out for blue.
Being 2/4 is allready fairly usefull against all the 3 power flyer and if you want to you can make it a 3/5 flyer, which also stops the 4 power uncommons.
Yeesh, this pack sure is full of value. Even the whole table is able to pick something decent out of this. Supply Line Cranes seems like the right pick, at the very least to deny any other prospective white decks from getting goodies.
Harness by force will win you the game when you already have board control, when the board is even and possibly when your board is weaker. Too powerful to pass.
EDIT: It does lock you into heavy red, but in my area red is not favoured. So there is plenty of burn cheese to pick later to support this.
msun: Knives scoop ice cream.
Highroller: No they don't, knives don't scoop. Spoons scoop.
msun: Well, knives SHOULD scoop icecream.
Highroller: We have spoons that do it. Moreover, the shape of a knife that would scoop ice cream would make it horrible for performing the functions of a knife.
msun: Highroller, you bring up spoons as though they were the utensil used for scooping ice cream.
Harness By Force, and it's not particularly close. Works as a 3 mana Portent for hyper aggressive red decks, with potential for 6 mana version if game goes longer than it wants. In more midrange/controlling red builds, you can wait til 6-9 mana and just win the game.
I think that Nature's Panoply is the right call. It is a super powerful effect, and there are a ton of ways to get +1/+1 counters on guys in this set. Harness by Force is very powerful, but Red is very weak in limited this block. I just don't think you'll be able to put together a reliable deck in red to take advantage of the card.
Most of the time Harness by Force is nothing more than a harder to cast Threaten. Strive requires another R, which makes it RRR if 2 creatures, RRRR if 3 creatures. And if anyone wanted a Threaten effect there's still Portent of Betrayal in the third pack.
This pack is full of role players and nothing truly stands out TBH. Which is why I went for the safe pick, and a card at a low cmc.
The contenders in this pack are Supply Line Crane, Harness by Force, and Pharika's Chosen. The 1/1 deathtouch is a solid guy for black, although not exciting or particularly first pick-able and black is the worst color in JBT. That leaves us with the white flier and the red Act of Treason. The Crane on it's own can be played as a 3/5 flier for 5, which isn't a huge bomb but is generally a nice beefy guy to put in the air. It also has a lot of added utility with the potential of pumping other creatures. Harness by Force is mediocre in it's 3-mana mode, but the 6-mana mode can really break up boards and create surprise wins. If you are willing to first pick a 3RRR card, it has the highest potential upside.
If you just want to force R/W heroic like a lot of people do, Satyr Hoplite is a secondary option. It's much weaker and less versatile than Supply-Line Crane though and lacks the blowout potential of Harness by Force.

An accurate description of myself:

You're the dude who just lies a lot and makes people hate you and then magically becomes town later, right?
Harness just seems nutty in a decent R/x aggressive build. Turn 6 you probably win the game more often than not, stealing their two best guys and likely making your team largely unblockable. And with it being rare people won't know to play around it.
Plenty of other good playables here, but nothing nearly as game-breaking at the Harness.
If the person on your left is red that's fine, you are passing to them for 2 packs. Yes, they get first crack at the strong BNG red, but that is no worse than having someone on your right getting first look at both packs.
I'd go with the cranes. I'd much rather commit to white early than red; I should be able to cut white very effectively given the utter absence of other white cards in the pack; and of course the cranes are just straight up powerful, pushing what you would expect for uncommon-level power in limited.

Second choice would be Supply-Line Cranes. Probably the best white common.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.

I actually don't like starting JBT with a white pick, because white is so strong in JOU that everyone seems to go that color.
It's got more than 10 different strategies you can choose from.
Comment about it here.
