I'm feeling an all-in white weenie strategy with this god, with 16 1-drops. Athreos gives an impressive amount of reach and pretty much allows all your durdles to swing in with abandon.

I'm pretty sure your deck could make use of Phalanx Leader and Launch the Fleet in very awesome ways.
Sightless Brawler and Loyal Pegasus are just bad cards. Not being able to attack may not seem like a big draw back with so many one cmcs but they can be no shows many of the times. I'd rather run Spirit of the Labyrinth if you want a 3/1 for 2 mana. The bestow on the brawler is not relevant in such a low curve. Loyal Pegasus is a little better than the brawler because it is a 1cmc instead of 2 and it was flying which is a nice perk. But not being able to attack by yourself means that you can't attack with it until turn 3 if you cast it turn 1. Opponents can also control your attacks if they remove your other creatures. I'd also go zero Brimaz, King of Oreskos. You always want to be casting Atheros, God of Passage on turn 3. I'd rather have more 2 drops orBanisher Priest instead to clear the way for your small troops. Brimaz's tokens aren't relevant to Atheros' ability anyhow. And the Hall of Triumph seems like a better bomb than Brimaz.

Your discredit to Brimaz is unfounded. 4 toughness is nothing to sneeze at in the meta. Also, kill spells are often wasted on him rather than the real win conditions. In modern, he has not found a place, yet. 4 toughness is still a major defense. He dies hard to abrupt decay, but that is to expected early game. Brimaz gives great potential for 3 mana with vigilance. Athreos, god of Passage will make him better as now you can add 3 life loss to your opponent if he does stay in the yard. For UW, that can be back breaking if the have to board wipe 1 Brimaz and 1 Precinct Captain. Are they going to pay six life? Lets us consider modern applications in Pod. Will Jund pay more than 9 life to rid really the get Kiki-Jikki, Restoration Angel, Voice of Resurgence, butt load of mana dorks? It's very unclear currently how good Athreos is in modern, but he needs a certain deck. For Standard play, many a control deck will have nightmares if they don't run Deicide or similar spells.
No, only creatures who "dies" - enter the graveyard will trigger him. Those who has a replacement-effect when they die/enter the graveyard however still will trigger, like Worldspine Wurm. Essentially Athreos asks target opponent "Would you like to pay 3 life to get this wurm shuffled into its owners library or should he rather put it back into his hand?" - note this is only if it is killed on the battlefield for instance with Hero's Downfall and not when discarded or milled.
"Hey, wanna pay 3 life or this token card gets returned to its owners hand, which means it'll be removed from the game/"exiled"?"
- doesn't really pose a threat when one of the choices doesn't have an effect.
Honestly I just wanna throw this jerk in my casual good stuff deck and call it a day. He's gonna be a serious pita for my opponent.
Don't let the Tribute/Punisher aspect of this guy mis-evaluate him. Consider: Making your opponent make decisions a BUNCH of times increases the chance they will eventually make a mistake. The more decisions, the chances only go up. You can win games that way.
His stats are quite obviously pushed. I'm *really* looking forward to trying this guy out--bought one at $22 and no regrets whatsoever.
W/b humans shell with a swiss army sideboard that you can custom to the deck your facing without removing too much of the synergy. Capable of a turn 4 kill, and should have game against most of the meta.
After play testing this card a good deal, maindeck in any version whatsoever of black/white it is VERY underwhelming. The only way it starts to get any real benefit is abusing sac effects with Cartel Aristocrat and Maw of Obzedat + Tokens/creatures.
The one version of this deck that started to get truly interesting is Dega (RWB). To make this guy bonkers, creatures really need haste. If you are going to get a creature back to your hand, you really don't want to lose tempo. This is the shell that I was running that started to do some work with this guy. Problem with the deck is mana, but it really doesn't mind shocking itself or taking 1 from Mana Confluence.
So am i the only person who found a place for Atheros in a bw extortion deck? I mean for one he synergizes with a high priest of penance soooo well, not to mention any extort creature you play getting sent back to your hand? Okay i will gladly recast the card for its extort cost again and do more damage to you by simply casting a card. Oh now i have sanguine bond on the field? Lets just double all that extort dmg. Atheros also makes keeping a crypt ghast on the field that much easier so for every swamp you double your mana. Finally play a gray merchant after you have placed a few underworld connections and a sanguine bond on the field and watch the dmg sky rocket.

Clearly it needs tweaking, but I don't really see what this offers over just rakdos or boros, but it could be interesting.
I'm not sure I like him as a 4 of in a deck that has nearly 0 ways to turn him into a creature. This card has to be played like Thassa, the abilities are secondary to actually making him a 5/4 creature with ease. I also think his ability will only be truly backbreaking to certain control decks, I mean you get them down to 10 or less and then all of a sudden that supreme verdict looks more like a temporary fog.
Hes great. Oversold Cemetery Can help you get things back anyway if they pay the three life and Dark Prophecy gives you additional card advantage that you'd usually miss out on playing little weenies.

tidehollow sculler and something along the lines of Brimaz, king of oreskos or hero of bladehold as a top end.

Tokens! Tokens still trigger 'dies' effects when they die.
Oh but wait, your opponent will always "let it go to your hand" in that case. So i guess whether or not it triggers is kind of a moot point.
LOL
