Alright, now that the full set has been released, what do people think is the best color in Limited?
I'm pleasantly surprised with red. A good bit of decent removal, Impetuous Sunchaser at common.
And please, this IS NOT the thread to say that all the colors suck, the set sucks, Mark Rosewater is killing magic, etc. I just want to get a feel for what people think are going to be the defining commons/uncommons to watch out for.
I'll say that the quality of removal in Born of the Gods feels an order of magnitude higher than that of Theros (barring the rare removal spells like Chained to the Rocks and Hero's Downfall). Asphyxiate, Bolt of Keranos, Drown in Sorrow, Bile Blight and Excoriate are all quite a bump in power compared to Vanquish the Foul and Rage of Purphoros. That alone will change the dynamic of Limited a lot, making some super aggressive starts less common, given the higher chances your drop gets taken down right away or shortly after.
Blue has some high power in the air at all rarities and white looks really strong if you get inspired synergy going. Imagine that white and blue
Yep. 100% agree. Blue has great flying creatures, enchantments, and enablers (sorceries/instants). White is solid too and fits like a glove with blue.
That 2drop with inspire that gives an opponent's creature -3/-0 is really good especially if you build around it. A lot of people are going to be sleeping on it...
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
Coming from a control player who pretty much hates red with a passion in constructed environments, I'd say black and red would be the best bet for limited in this set. Both have a healthy amount of efficient removal at common and uncommon, while still retaining aggressively costed low drop creatures.
In conclusion, I'm gonna shoot for black in limited because Bile Blight is too awesome to not run. There are a few cards that if opened can obviously sway my choice though, including but not limited to Kiora, Brimaz, Courser of Kruphix, and possibly Whelming Wave.
White has maybe the most downright unplayables, but also some stupidly good uncommons, is playing into established archetypes, and is building off the best THS base. Blue looks very deep. Powerful commons, lots of playables, and synergizes with an already-good color in THS. Probably my pick at the prerelease. Black seems pretty mediocre. Great uncommon removal, but the commons range from "reasonably playable" to "13th pick chaff". Red gets a lot better with two great removal spells at common. It falls off after that, but they're enough to help prop it up. Green seems middle of the road, without any real first picks at common but lots of consistency.
I guess I'd rank them as follows: Blue, White, Red, Green, and Black, with Blue being pretty far ahead of the pack and Black being pretty far behind.

I will be playing white in this one. I white in the last one (splashed blue) pre release with theros and it did fairly well for me, the best ive ever done at a pre release actually.
White has the good cards that i need for the solid base, and will provide some great support to whatever color im splashing with it.
But honestly ive said this before, people can pretty much justify playing whatever color that they choose for this set, the card pool doesn't look to be leaning to any one particular color from my perspective
I played Blue/Green for Theros and did pretty well. Green was Good in Theros because it has a lot of heavy beater creatures at common, then blue has decent removal, stronger flyers, and Benthic Giant, which was an Allstar in limited. Although Green doesn't look as good in the common/uncommon department this time around, I am thinking that it will be good if you get the right cards in the Theros packs.
Red is pretty well rounded. Blue is pretty well rounded. Green and white are okay when paired with their cards in Theros. Black has solid removal.
Honestly I'll probably be playing whatever colors I get stacked best in. I think I signed up for blue.

Red is quite good too and, depending on your criteria, could be better than blue. It's all hypothetical, though.
